Introduction
Intended use
The XORAYA DATACUBE-N3 is a fast read-out station for XORAYA RSUs (Removable Storage
Units). A terminal or PC can be used to access the contents of the storage medium.
The DATACUBE-N3 is designed for industrial areas and must not be used in residential areas.
You may only operate the DATACUBE-N3 within the scope of the technical specifications pro-
vided in this user manual. Additionally, the use in hazardous areas is not allowed.
The data lines may be extended up to a maximum of 30 m if they are sufficiently shielded. In
case of optical signal lines, the maximum length depends on the used transceivers and ca-
bles.

Read this user manual completely before using the device for the first time.
General safety instructions
The DATACUBE-N3 is only intended for use by qualified personnel.
CAUTION
Electric shock due to damaged components
Damages to the D
ATACUBE
-N3 or the power cord can result in electric
shock.
Check all components regularly for damages.
Only connect the DATACUBE-N3 if all components are undamaged.
CAUTION
Device damage due to vibrations, dirt or liquids
Excessive vibrations, dirt or liquids may result in malfunction or destruction
of the DATACUBE-N3.
Avoid exposing the DATACUBE-N3 to excessive vibrations, dirt or liq-
uids.
Keep the DATACUBE-N3 clean, especially plugs and sockets to en-
sure a reliable contact.
Never open the DATACUBE-N3.
CAUTION
Device damage due to electrostatic discharge
Electronic components can be destroyed by electrostatic discharge.
Avoid touching connectors and connector pins.
Never reach into the slot for the XORAYA RSU.

Installation
Mounting
CAUTION
Device damage due to overheating
Overheating may result in malfunction or destruction of the D
ATACUBE
-N3.
Do not operate the DATACUBE-N3 in the vicinity of heat sources.
Ensure adequate air circulation.
Do not cover the air vents of the DATACUBE-N3 with other objects.
Notes on 19-inch rack mounting:
Due to the weight of the DATACUBE-N3, two people should perform the installation.
Use either the optionally available telescopic rails or a custom and safe fixing method.
The mounting brackets at the sides of the front panel serve as an additional fixation.
They are not suited as the sole means of mounting.

XORAYA RSUs
CAUTION
Burning hazard due to hot surfaces
Continuous operation can strongly heat up housing and handle of the stor-
age medium XORAYA RSU. As a result, when removing the medium, it can
burn the skin on the hands.
Wear temperature-resistant ESD gloves when in contact with the XO-
RAYA RSU.

CAUTION
Risk of injury due to sharp edges or falling down
Sharp edges can cause cuts. Due to the weight of the X
ORAYA
RSU, foot in-
juries are likely to occur when it falls down.
Wear temperature-resistant ESD gloves when in contact with the XO-
RAYA RSU.
Handle the XORAYA RSU with special care.
Insert the XORAYA RSU carefully with both hands into the slot.
Slowly push the XORAYA RSU until the stop is reached.
PC/Switch
When using the 40GbE LAN ports (K):
Pay attention to the correct orientation of the QSFP+ transceiver module and carefully
push it in until it locks in place.
Connect PC or switch via a standard network cable to one of the ports (J-K).
Ensure proper connector seating.
Power supply
CAUTION
Device damage due to wrong power supply
A wrong power supply can result in damage or destruction of the D
ATACUBE
-
N3.
Use the provided power cord.
Only connect the DATACUBE-N3 to power sources that meet the tech-
nical specifications.
Use the provided power cord to connect input (E) to a suitable power source.
