Yournewgasbarbecueisnoexception.Byfollowingthese
cleaningproceduresonatimelybasis,yourbarbecuewill

Cleaning the Cooking Surface
Aftercooking,turnburnercontrolto‘OFF’andletbarbecue
coolbeforeattemptingtocleanthecookingsurface.Before
rstuseandperiodically,itissuggestedthatyouwashthe
cookingsurfaceinamildsoapandwarmwatersolution.
Care of Cooking Surface
Useandcareofthecookingsurfaceisimportant.Donot
usepansonthecookingsurface.Donotoverheatthe
cooking surface with the hood down or no food on the
cooking surface.
Cleaning the Drip Tray
Toavoidfatorgreasedrippingfromthebarbecueremove
andemptythedriptrayaftereachuse.Waituntilthedrip
trayiscooltotouchbeforedisposingofcontents.
Thedriptrayshouldbewashedperiodicallyinamild
detergent and warm water solution.
General Cleaning of Painted Surface
WhencleaningyourBBQuseamilddishsoapcombined
withwarmwaterandamicroberclothtocleanthesurface.
ThenrinseyourBBQwithcleanwater.
Note:Neverusesteelwooloranyhardcleaningpadonany
paintedandstainlesssteelsurface,asitcancausesurface
damage.
Ifnotinuse,turnothegasfromthesource.Aftercleaning
andwhenitisdry,spraysomecanolaoiloverthewhole
BBQsurfaceandwipeotheexcesswithmicrobercloth
toenhancethesurfaceprotection.ThencovertheBBQwith
aBBQcoverandstoreitinadryplace.
CARE & MAINTENANCE CARE AND CLEANING OF
STAINLESS STEEL
Stainlesssteelpartsofthisappliancearemadefrom304
&430gradestainlesssteel.Topreservetheappearance
and corrosion resistance of the stainless steel material
regularcleaningisrequired.Althoughstainlesssteel
does not rust in the same manner as steel it can still
exhibit‘corrosion’blemishesthatlooksimilartorustand
detractfromtheappliancesappearance.Unlikesteel,
thecorrosionofstainlesssteelismostlyconnedtothe
surfaceandinmostcasescanberemovedbycleaning,
returning the surface to almost like new.
Themostcommonformofcorrosionthataects
stainlesssteeliswhatisknownas‘TeaStaining”.This
showsupasbrownspotsonthesurface,hencethe
confusion with rusting. This is most common in coastal
areasbutdependingontheenvironmentcanalso
occurininlandareas.Ifthe‘TeaStaining’marksarenot
regularly cleaned from the material surface they can
penetrationintothematerialandbecomeverydicultto
remove,theapplicationofametalpolishwouldthenbe
required.
Iftheapplianceislocatednearswimmingpoolscareful
attentiontocleaningisrequired.Poolchemicalscontain
chlorideswhichcanaectthestainlesssteel.Thisalso
appliestosaltwaterpoolsastheycontainsalt,namely
sodium chloride.
Theuseofbleachescontainingchlorineshouldnotbe
usedtocleanthestainlesssteelsurfaces.Iftheresidues
arenotcompletedrinsedawaytheycancauseheavy
pittingofthematerial.Pittingcorrosioneatsdeepinto
thesurfaceandisnoteasilyremoved.Heavypolishingis
required.
ROUTINE CARE
Aftereachuseallowtheappliancetocoolthenwipe
overwithasoft,damp,soapycloth.(DONOTUSE
CLEANERSCONTAININGCHLORIDE).Finallywipe
overwithsoft,dampcloth.Besuretowipeofood
particlesandcookingresidues,somemarinatesand
oilscanbeacidandthereforeattackthemetalsurface.
Also,cookingresiduesthatarenotremovedaftereach
usebakeintothesurfacesduringsubsequentusesand
becomemorediculttoremove.
Thereareanumberofproprietystainlesssteelcleaners
availablethatcanbesafelyusedonthisappliance.Read
thedirectionscarefullybeforeusing
DONOTUSESTEELWOOLasparticlescanbecome
embeddedinthesurfaceandthenrustresultinginsmall
brownspecsonthesurface.Ifscouringisrequiredto
removestubborncookingresiduesuseasoftnylonpad
(non-abrasive).
DONOTUSEABRASIVECLEANINGCOMPOUNDS,
usecreamtype.Iftheapplianceisusedonanirregular
basisitisadvisedtostillcleanregularlyandkeepit
coveredfromtheelements,eitherbyusingapurpose
BBQcoverorunderacoveredporch.Dirtanddust
containcorrosiveparticlesfromtheenvironmentthat
can attack the surface. Stainless steel surfaces retain
theirbestresistancetocorrosionwhenkeepclean.Even
iftheapplianceisprotectedwithapurposeBBQcover
check regularly, condensation underneath the cover may
becorrosiveduetothelocalenvironmentandcause
damage to the metal surface.
