安全注意事项(Safety Precautions)
该引擎不是玩具,其不当使用会造成严重伤害或死亡的发生!请您仔细阅读并对整个操作
手册熟悉。学习引擎的应用,防止可能的危害。
This engine is a sophisticated Hobby Product and not a toy. It must be operated with
caution and common sense and requires some basic mechanical ability.Its improper use
may cause serious injury or death! It is essential to read and become familiar with this entire
instruction manual, and LEARN the engine's applications and limitations in order to operate
correctly and prevent possible hazards.
一.特别警告(Specific warnings):
1, 运转引擎时,必须让小孩及其他所有观看人员远离你的引擎,至少6到7米
2, 要将引擎牢固地安装在一个坚实的试车台架上或直接在飞机上磨合

它部分去停止旋翼的转动。更不能向运转中的内燃机扔什么东西去停止它。
7, 在任何情况下,不能在高压电线或电源线下面或附近放飞模型飞机
a) Start the engine on a flat surface free of stones or other debris. Mount the engine on
aircraft grade plywood of suitable strength and firmly fixed to a rigid structure.
b) Use the correct size of propeller for your engine; check the propeller before each
flight. Never use one with nicks, scratches, cracks or any damage.
c) Be sure that your hands and body are not in the plane/axis of propeller rotation when
the engine is being started or is running.
d) Make carburetor adjustments from behind the propeller. Never tune the carburetor
whilst the engine is running! Stop the engine. Tune the carburetor and start the
engine again. Repeat this procedure until the carburetor is properly tuned.
e) To stop the engine, use the throttle linkage to shut off the air by closing the throttle
valve completely or press the fuel line or disconnect the tubing from the carburetor to
interrupt the fuel supply. Disconnecting the power supply to the electronic ignition unit
will also safely stop the engine. Never use your hands, fingers or other parts of the
body to stop the rotating propeller. Do not throw any object into a running propeller in
order to stop it!
f) Under no circumstances should you fly at or near high-voltage power lines/wires or
over buildings or houses.

11 汽油机加燃油的地方或燃油储存地,不能吸烟或有明火及火花。
12 汽油机排出的废气含有一氧化碳,为避免吸入,决不能在封闭的室内或通风不良的地
方运转汽油机。
13 严禁使用纯汽油(不加二冲程汽油机油)做燃料。
14 醉酒的人、神志不清的人、孕妇不能使用该机。
15 确保所有观看模型表演的人在螺旋桨的后面,以免被螺旋桨意外飞出伤及观众。
16 穿戴适当的服装,不要披挂多余衣物、领带以及首饰等物品,以避免被螺旋桨缠绕,
成意外。
17 当汽油机启动后,人必须停留在转动的螺旋桨面之后;绝对不能站在旁边或前面!
a) We recommend wearing safety glasses when starting or running the engine.
b) The engine requires adequate airflow and efficient cooling to run reliably. Please
design large enough cooling vents on your model that will allow sufficient cooling of
the engine.
c) Fix the propeller correctly and check the tightness of the propeller nut prior to each
flight. Pay attention to maintain the balance of the propeller and make regular
inspections.
d) In order to avoid fire, keep engine away from buildings and other equipment for at
least 1 m distance during operation to ensure adequate ventilation.
e) Do not operate the engine near loose gravel or sand or any other loose objects.

f) Be familiar with how to shut down the engine under an emergency situation.
Personnel who are not familiar with the engine should not be involved with its
operation.
g) Keep inflammable items such as gasoline and matches far away from the running
engine.
h) Gasoline is highly flammable therefore when mixing or handling fuel it should done in
a well ventilated area, and make sure the engine is stopped when filling the model
with fuel.
i) Do not overfill the fuel tank. Make sure that the fuel tank cap is tightly closed. Wipe up
any spilt excess gasoline fuel before attempting to start the engine and do not create
any sparks or light any matches at this time. (do not smoke cigarettes whilst operating
your gasoline engine)
j) Be sure that the place where you fill or store fuel is well away from sparks, heat or
anything that could ignite the fuel.
k) The running engine produces harmful carbon monoxide fumes. In order to avoid
inhalation, never run the engine in an enclosed or poorly ventilated area or indoors.
l) Never use the pure gasoline (without add 2-stroke gasoline engine oil) for fuel.
m) Do not operate this engine if you are pregnant or under the influence of any drugs or
alcohol.
n) Ensure that all spectators/bystanders are behind the propeller, in order to avoid being
accidentally by a flying propeller.
o) Wear appropriate clothing when operating your engine. Avoid wearing neckties and
jewellery or any other loose objects that may become entangled in the propeller,
causing an accident.
p) When the engine starts, people must remain behind the Propeller plane/axis. Do not
stand beside or in front of it.

1. Be sure that your model has a specially designed solid engine installation that is
suitable for the power that this engine will deliver.
2,正确地固定发动机.
2. Mount the engine in a secure manner using socket head bolts of a minimum diameter
of 5mm. Nylock (anti vibration) nuts are preferred, as is the use of washers under the
head of the bolt and under the nut. These bolts and nuts should be checked after the first
flight and then regularly after every 10 flights approximately.

3. Mount the electronic ignition system to avoid overheating (away from the muffler), use
the correct switch and battery and regulator (if applicable) for your ignition. (Refer to
ignition instructions below)

4. Use the appropriate fuel tank (suggested 500cc to 750cc with gasoline stopper fitted),
gasoline friendly tubing and connect it according to the tank manufacturer’s instructions.
The RL58 uses a ‘pumper carburetor so the tank position is not critical. The use of spring
retaining clips on the fuel lines is recommended as many brands of gasoline fuel tubing
soften and expand with use and may become unattached causing the engine to stop at
an inopportune time.
引擎启动前准备(Preparation Before Starting the Engine)
1,检查引擎的固定是否牢固 Check the engine is firmly mounted
2,检查螺旋桨是否安全 Check the safety and tightness of the propeller
3,检查油路开关是否全部打开 Check the fuel line is not restricted
4,检查点火电池的电量 Check the power of the ignition battery
5,检查点火器是否点火 Check whether the ignition switch is on
6,确保引擎表面没有燃油 Ensure there is no excess fuel on the engine’s or model’s surface

引擎的启动(Starting the Engine)
1) 关闭风门,转动螺旋桨,直至油料进入化油器
2) 此时打开点火电源。
3) 用力转动螺旋桨,(最好使用启动棒)直到发动机发出爆炸声,发动机会运转 1-2 秒而自动
熄火。(首次启动或长时间不用可能需要转动多次螺旋桨)
4) 打开风门,油门开至怠速或比怠速稍大一点,启动发动机,进入正常工作状态。
5) 热车启动:打开风门,油门开至怠速或比怠速稍大一点,直接启动发动机。
Starting the Engine
a) With the ignition off, throttle set to full speed, close the choke and rotate the propeller
(anti clockwise from the front) until the fuel appears at the carburetor fuel nipple.
b) Turn on the ignition.
c) Flip the propeller firmly in an anti clockwise direction (looking from the front). We
recommend the use of a start-up stick and/or a leather glove. The engine will make
popping sound and run for 1-2 seconds. For the first time use or if the engine hasn’t been
used for a while, you may need to flip the propeller up to 10 times.
d) Open the choke, set throttle valve at the idle position or at a position slightly open from
idle, then start up the engine again as above ( 3)
e) If the engine is still warm from prior operation you can start the engine as per (4).
引擎的磨合(Engine break in)
1,磨合期内,建议使用 20-251 的油料
2,当发动机运行在怠速状态(绝对不要超过 4000 转),感觉转速不稳定时,小小的加一下油
门。运行 30 分钟后熄火检查,并使引擎自然冷却。重复以上过程,直至引擎累计磨合 2
小时。
3,现在可以飞行了,但请注意以下几点
·不要让引擎转速超过 7000
·让引擎处于良好的冷却环境中
·熟悉一下你的引擎和飞机飞行航线吧!
·引擎累计运行 20 小时后才算磨合完成
Engine break in
1During the engine break in period, it is recommended to use a fuel mixture of 25-30:1.
2After the engine starts, run it at a fast smooth idle speed (no more than 4000 rpm ) After
30 minutes running, stop the engine and then check the mounting and the tightness of
the propeller. Let the engine cool down naturally. Repeat the above process until the
engine has an accumulated break in of 2 hours.
3Now you are ready to fly, but please pay attention to the following points:
a) Do not let the engine speed exceed 7,000 rpm
b) Check that the engine is getting adequate cooling
c) After an accumulated running time of 20 hours, your engine can be considered to
be completely run in.
d) Please familiarize yourself with your engine operation and the safe operation of
your aircraft.

化油器功能及调整(Function and adjustment of the carburetor)

本化油器是 Walbro 特配真空泵膜式双针化油器,顺时针转动(3)怠速调节螺丝将增大怠速转速,
同时要配合(4)低速油针一起调整,顺时针转动低速油针减少油量(一般是把油针拧到底再
退回 1.25 圈);高速油针 5(退回 1.5 圈);最好使用转速表来调整,使发动机达到最高转速,
加减速顺畅为最佳。
The RL58 Walbro carburetor comes pre-adjusted to a basic setting. This setting should be
maintained during the initial break-in runs. The standard carburetor settings are as follows:
The high-speed needle valve is set to about 2 1/3 turns out from the fully closed position.
The low speed or idle needle valve is set to about 4 turns out from the fully closed position.
Red Lion uses a high quality, ultra reliable Walbro carburetor which is a special-needle
carburetor with a vacuum pump diaphragm.
1) Start and warm the engine at a low throttle setting and after 15-20 seconds move the
throttle to the fully open position. The engine should accelerate smoothly. We suggest the
use of a tachometer to set the maximum speed. Turning the high speed needle clockwise
will make the engine run leaner and generally faster. But, if the setting is too lean, the engine
will run too hot and rpm and power will be reduced. Typically you should adjust the high
speed needle valve clockwise to obtain maximum RPM, then turn the needle anti-clockwise
5 degrees back. Note that these adjustments should be made with the engine stopped.
It is very dangerous to make carburetor adjustments when the engine is running.
2) Setting a suitable idle speed involves a combination of the idle speed screw and the low
speed needle valve. You are looking for a reliable low speed idle that makes landing your

model easier and keeps the engine running reliably, and allows smooth acceleration to full
power. If your engine transitions from idle to full speed smoothly and quickly you do not need
to adjust the low speed needle valve. Simply turning the Idle speed adjusting screw
clockwise will increases the idle speed or turning it anti clockwise will reduce the idle speed.
If the engine does not smoothly increase RPM from idle please note the following. If the
engine stops or hesitates due to lack of fuel when you increase the throttle, the engine is too
lean and you need to open the low speed needle valve (anti clockwise). If the engine coughs
and splutters and may blow excess fuel from the muffler as you increase the power, then the
engine is too rich. You should turn the low speed needle valve clockwise. Please use small
adjustments (5 degrees per time). Note that these adjustments should be made with the
engine stopped. It is very dangerous to make carburetor adjustments when the
engine is running.
The low speed needle valve is set to about 1 1/4 turns from the fully closed position
The High-Speed needle valve (see 5) is about 1 1/2 turns from the fully closed position.
For the best performance the engine should accelerate and decelerate smoothly and idle
reliably. Please follow the instructions above and make the necessary adjustments to
achieve this.

Caution for adjustment of the high speed needle:
A lean gas mixture will result in the engine overheating and burning of the spark plug. Please
pay attention to the color of your spark plug when you adjust the high speed needle. A yellow
color is the right color for proper gas mixing at the ignition point.
引擎的保养及问题诊断(Engine Maintenance and Troubleshooting Guide)
·引擎不要长时间低速运行,否则可能导致火花塞严重积炭
Do not run the engine at an idle speed for too long, or spark plug might become
carbonized and reduce the engines performance.
·保持引擎表面清洁,保证散热良好
Be sure to keep the engine surfaces clean to ensure good heat dissipation.
·每次飞行后需要注意的:
检查引擎是不是过热。火花塞燃烧是否正常。所有螺丝螺母是否松动。所有管线是否正常。
特别注意:在一定周期内清洁化油器里面的燃油滤网,否则将引起油针调节失灵,引擎工作
不稳定等情况。
After each flying session you should note that:
·Check the engine has not overheated
·Check all screws and nuts are tight.

·Check the spark plug and replace if necessary.
·Check the fuel lines.
·Clean the fuel filter inside the carburetor periodically (approximately every 20 flights)
or irregularities may occur with the needle adjustment and the engine may work
unreliably.
如果打算长时间不用,请清洗引擎后放置在干燥处倒置引擎,请取下火花塞放置。请防止昆

If you plan to not use the engine for a long time, please clean the engine and place it in a dry
place in an upside-down position having removed the spark plug.
Please prevent foreign matter, dust and moisture from entering into the engine by plugging
the carburetor and spark plug hole with cotton cloth (or similar)
Please drain the fuel tank in the model of all gasoline at the end of each flying session.
问题诊断(Troubleshooting Guide)
If the engine does not start please check:
·Whether enough fuel has been drawn into the carburetor (if the plug is dry it means not
enough fuel is getting to the engine). Is the fuel tank full ? Has the clunk fallen off the
pickup line ? Is there a kink in the fuel line from the tank to the carburetor?
·Are you using the right ratio of fuel mix ?
·Is there too much fuel inside the cylinder ? If the motor is flooded, invert the engine and
remove the spark plug and drain excess fuel.
·Whether the ignition is working correctly ? Is the power supply for the electronic ignition
charged? Is it turned on?
·That the plug cap from the electronic ignition is firmly seated on the top of the spark plug.
·Faulty spark plug ? If in doubt, please replace it.
You hear an abnormal sound when the engine is running, please check:
·One of the mounting screws is loose or not.
·Is the muffler loose ?
·That the crankshaft bearings are OK. Check for sideways ‘play’ in the crankshaft by trying
to deflect the propeller sideways.
·Have any unknown objects slipped into the inside of the engine via the carburetor?
Engine Power rapidly declines please check:
·Carburetor is correctly adjusted
·Ignition timing is correct
·The piston ring and cylinder have been scored by the entry of foreign matter
·Overheating issues
无法启动请检查:是否进油?油料是否正常?是否汽缸内油太多?点火器是否点火?点火时间是否
正常?

Red Lion engines are guaranteed against faulty workmanship and manufacturing defects for
a period of 2 years from the original date of purchase.
This warranty is limited to the original purchaser of the engine and is not transferable.
Warranty repairs will not cover:
• Normal engine wear
• Damage due to insufficient maintenance
• Damage related to over-revving of engine due to small prop size or unreasonable use
• Rusted bearings
• Crash damage
• Damage due to use of improper fuel and/or spark plug
• Damage due to lean runs, such as rusted bearings, seized connecting rod or piston, etc.
• Damage caused by foreign objects (dirt or broken spark plug filaments)
• Damage caused by unreasonable mounting or running conditions (dust, insufficient cooling,
improper mounting, improper propeller size,or lack of balancing, etc.)
• Damage due to improper disassembly
• Modifications of any kind
• Repair or replacement and any warranty coverage is Red Lion’s sole decision
