The following safety precautions must be observed at all times. Please read them carefully.
TRAINING
1) Read the instructions carefully. Get familiar with the controls and proper use of the equipment. Learn how to
stop the motor quickly.
2) Only use the lawnmower for the purpose for which it was designed, i.e. for cutting and collecting grass.
Any other use can be hazardous, causing damage to the machine. Examples of improper use may include, but
are not limited to:
– transport of people, children or animals on the machine
– being transported by the machine
– using the machine to tow or push loads
– using the machine for leaf or debris collection
– using the machine to trim hedges, or for cutting vegetation other than grass
– use of the machine by more than one person
– using the blade on surfaces other than grass
3) Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to use the lawnmower. Local regulations may
restrict the age of the operator.
4) Never use the lawnmower:
When people, especially children, or pets are nearby
– If the operator has taken medicine or substances that can aect his ability to react and concentrate
5) Remember that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their
property.
PRELIMINARY OPERATIONS
1) Whilst mowing, always wear sturdy footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the lawnmower when barefoot or
wearing open sandals. Avoid wearing clothing that is loose tting or has hanging cords or ties.
2) Thoroughly inspect the entire work area and remove anything that could be thrown by the machine or damage
the cutting unit or motor (stones, branches, iron wire, bones, etc.).
3) Before use, always inspect generally and in particular to see that the blade, screws and cutting unit are not
worn or damaged. Replace damaged or worn blades and screws in their entirety to preserve balance. Replace
damaged or unreadable labels.
4) Before use check the supply and extension cord for signs of damage or ageing. If the cord becomes damaged
during use, disconnect the cord from the supply immediately. DO NOT TOUCH THE CORD BEFORE
DISCONNECTING THE SUPPLY. Do not use the machine if the cord is damaged or worn.
OPERATION
1) Mow only in daylight or good articial light.
2) Avoid mowing wet grass or when it is raining.
3) Make sure you have a steady foothold on slopes.
4) Never run, always walk; do not let the lawnmower pull you.
5) Always mow transversely on slopes and never up and down.
6) Be extremely carefully when changing directions on slopes.
7) Never mow on overly steep slopes.
8) Be extremely careful when pulling the lawnmower towards you.
9) Immobilise the blade if the lawnmower must be inclined for transport, when moving over surfaces other than grass
and when the lawnmower is transported from or to an area that must be cut.
10) Never operate the lawnmower with damaged guards or without the grass collector or discharge guards.
11) Start up the motor carefully according to the instructions, keeping feet away from the blade.
12) Do not incline the lawnmower when starting the motor, unless necessary for start up. In this event, do not incline
it more than is absolutely necessary and only lift the part that is far from the operator. Always ensure that both
hands are in the working position before lowering the lawnmower again.
13) Do not start the machine when standing in front of the discharge opening.
14) Never place your hands and feet near or under rotating parts. Keep away from the discharge opening.
15) Do not lift or transport the lawnmower when the motor is running.
16) Stop the machine and remove plug from the socket. Make sure that all moving parts have come to a complete
stop:
– when transporting the machine;
– whenever you leave the machine;
– before clearing blockages or unclogging the chute;
6
– before checking, cleaning or working on the machine;
after striking a foreign object. Inspect the machine for damage and make repairs before restarting and
operating the machine;
If the machine starts to vibrate abnormally (check immediately):
– inspect for damage;
– replace or repair any damaged parts at a Mounteld authorised service dealer;
– check for and tighten any loose parts.
17) Stop the motor:
– whenever you remove or reattach the grass collector;
– whenever you adjust the cutting height.
18) When mowing, always keep a safe distance from the rotary blade, given by the length of the handle.
19) WARNING - If something breaks or an accident occurs during mowing, turn o the motor immediately and
move the machine away to prevent further damage; if an accident occurs with injuries or third parties are
injured, carry out the rst aid measures most suitable for the situation immediately and contact the medical
authorities for any necessary health care. Carefully remove any debris that might cause damage or harm to
persons or animals should it not be seen.
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1) Keep all nuts and screws tight to be sure the machine is always in a safe working condition. Routine maintenance
is essential for safety and for maintaining a high performance level.
2) Check the discharge guards and the grass collector frequently for wear or deterioration.
3) Be careful during adjustment of the machine to prevent entrapment of the ngers between moving blades and
xed parts of the machine.
4) Always allow the machine to cool down before storing.
5) When servicing the blades be aware that, even though the power source is switched o, the blades can still be
moved.
6) For safety reasons, never use the machine when it has worn or damaged parts. Parts must be replaced and not
repaired. Use original spare parts. Parts that are not of the same quality can damage the equipment and impair
your safety.
7) To reduce re hazards, keep the lawnmower and in particular, the motor, free of grass, leaves, or excessive
grease. Never leave containers with cut grass inside a storage area.
TRANSPORTATION AND HANDLING
1) Whenever the machine is to be handled, raised, transported or tilted you must:
– wear strong working gloves.
– grasp the machine at the points that oer a safe grip, taking account of the weight and its distribution.
– use an appropriate number of people for the weight of the machine and the characteristics of the vehicle or the
place where it is to be placed or collected.
2) During transport, fasten the machine securely with ropes or chains.
HOW TO START MOWING
Carefully remove the mower from the carton and read these Operating Instructions. An Owner’s Manual for the
engine is also included. Please read this before starting the engine.
WARNING - Unpacking and completing the assembly should be done on a at and stable surface,
with enough space for handling the machine and its packaging, always making use of any suitable
equipment.
Disposal of the packaging should be done in accordance with the local regulations in force.
HANDLE ASSEMBLY
Assemble the lower right (Fig.5.A) and left (Fig.5.B) parts of the handle onto the screws (Fig.5.C) protruding from
the chassis.
Fasten the knobs (Fig.5.E) using the supplied nuts and bolts (Fig.5.D).
Tighten the knobs until the plastic piece holding the screw in position snaps (Fig.5.F).
Fasten the top of the handle (Fig.5.G) to the bottom parts using the knobs (Fig.5.H) and the supplied nuts
and bolts (Fig.5.I) as shown, using one of the two holes provided for adjusting the height of the handle to the
operator's stature.
Fit the cable clamp (Fig.5.J) in the indicated position and clamp the cable (Fig.5.K) holding it in place along the
inside of the machine.

GRASS COLLECTOR
Fit the cloth base by fastening the plastic bars onto the frame (it may help to use a screwdriver as shown in the
drawing) and hook the handle in place (Figure 6).
To t the grass collector onto the mower, lift the rear safety deector ap and hook the collector onto the pegs.
STARTING YOUR MOWER
Read and understand the Safety Precautions before using your mower.
The motor is controlled by a dual-action switch to prevent accidental start ups. Press the button (A) and pull the
lever (B) for start up. The motor will automatically stop when the lever (B) is released (Figure 7).

Whilst mowing, make sure the electric cable is always behind you and on the side of the lawn that has already
been cut. The appearance of the lawn will improve if you alternate cutting in both directions at the same height.
When the grass collector is too full, grass collection is no longer ecient and the sound of the lawnmower
changes.

ADJUSTING THE HEIGHT OF CUT
Lower or raise the chassis to cut the grass at dierent heights.
Do this when the cutting blade is stationary.
To adjust the cutting height:
1. Tilt the machine on one side.
2. Use both hands to position the wheel axle in one of the grooves on the inside of the chassis.
3. The height must be the same for both axes.
Do not tilt the wheel axle during this operation, so that it slots simultaneously
into one of the grooves provided.

MAINTENANCE
BEFORE EACH USE
Always ensure that the mower is in a safe working condition.
Inspect the cutter blade for damage; check safety devices and guards; check that all nuts, bolts and screws are
secure.
Always make sure the air intakes are free of debris.
CUTTER BLADE
Examine the cutter blade regularly for wear or damage.
A slightly worn blade can be re-sharpened by your local authorised Mounteld service dealer.
If the blade is damaged it should be replaced. Replacement blade kits are available from your local authorised
Mounteld service dealer.
If in doubt refer to your local authorised Mounteld service dealer, or telephone 0800 121 6585.
STORAGE
A little time spent on your mower after use will ensure many years of reliable mowing.
To access the underside of the cutter deck, ensure that the mower is disconnected from the mains supply. Lift the
front wheels by lowering the handle until it rests on the ground.
AFTER EACH USE
Remove any grass pulp from the underside of the cutter deck using a non-metallic instrument such as a piece of
wood. Take care not to damage the paintwork.
Examine the cutter blade for any damage. A damaged blade may upset the balance of your mower and cause
excessive vibration. If in doubt refer to your authorised Mounteld service dealer.
Inspect the grass collector and clean it if necessary. If the mesh becomes clogged airow will be reduced and impair
grass collection.
STORAGE
When the machine is to be stored away:
Wait for the motor to cool.
Clean the machine thoroughly.
Check the machine for any damage. If necessary, contact the authorised Mounteld service dealer.
Store the machine:
In a dry place.
Protected from inclement weather.
Covered with a sheet where possible.
In a place where children cannot get to it.
Making sure that keys or tools used for maintenance are removed.
