ADJUSTMENTS

Compression damping adjuster
Adjust by turning the knob/ allen screw
on the piggy-back reservoir;
Low speed (1a): Use a 3 mm allen key.
High speed (1b): Hexagon screw.
Use a 12 mm spanner.
Rebound damping adjuster
Adjust by turning the slotted screw
on the black knob. Use a screwdriver.
Handtighten only.
Spring preload adjuster
Adjust by turning the adjustment ring on
the shock absorber tube.
Use the C-spanners provided in this kit.
NOTE!
When delivered the Öhlins shock absorber
is dialed to recommended settings for the
specific brand and make of the vehicle. If you
have changed the setting, reset according to
the following:
The adjusters have a normal right hand thread.
Turn clockwise to fully closed. Turn counter
clockwise to open and count the clicks until you
reach the recommended number.
CAUTION!
Do not use force, delicate sealing surfaces can
be damaged. Handtighten only.

that is not approved by the vehicle
manufacturer, may affect the vehicle’s

referred to when installing the Öhlins
shock absorber.
3. Please study and make certain you fully
understand the mounting instructions and
the owner’s manual before handling this
Öhlins shock absorber. If you have any
questions regarding proper installation
procedures, contact an Öhlins dealer.

NOTE!
During storage and transportation, especially
at high ambient temperature, the oil and
grease used for assembling may run out in-
side the packing and damage the expanded
polystyrene packing material. This is not
unusual and is in no way detrimental to the
shock absorber.
NOTE!
Öhlins products are subject to continuous
improvement and development. Therefore,
although these instructions include the most
up-to-date information available at the time
of printing, there may be minor differences
between your Öhlins shock absorber and this
manual. Please consult your Öhlins dealer if
you have any questions regarding the con-
tents of this manual.
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING!
1. It is advisable to have an Öhlins dealer
install the shock absorber.
2. Follow the instructions in the vehicle
service manual when changing the shock
absorber.
3. When working on a raised vehicle, make
sure that it is securely supported to prevent
it from tipping over.

Raise the car so that the rear wheels are off
the ground.

Remove the top mount and the rubber
mountings from the original shock absorber.
Install the top mount and the bushings to the
Öhlins shock absorbers.
CAUTION!
Do not use an impact wrench when removing
the top mount from the shock absorber. It may
cause the piston nut to come loose from the
piston shaft.

Release the spring preload before installing
the Öhlins shock absorbers to the vehicle.

Remove the rear wheels.

Remove the lower and the upper attachments
and remove the original shock absorbers.
NOTE!
Compress the shock absorber when removing
it.

Install the Öhlins shock absorbers. The
reservoirs should be pointing towards
the rear end of the vehicle, and the lower
bracket offset towards the wheel.

Set the spring preload once the shock
absorbers are installed to the vehicle.

NOTE!
Make sure that all bolts are tightened to
the correct torque and that nothing fouls or
restricts movement of the suspension when it
is being fully compressed or extended.
