Computer requirements
Pentium® III 1.2 GHz processor
512 MB of RAM (1 GB recommended)
350 MB of free hard disk space for minimum installation (900 MB for full
installation with Gallery collections)
X Window System™ version 11 release 6 (X11R6) or later (must support XRender
and Xinerama™)
glibc 2.3.3 (gcc 3.4.2) or later
libstdc++6 or later
GNOME™ 2.8.0+ (recommended)
Linux distributions tested
Guadalinex V6 at kernel version 2.6.28-16-generic
LLurex 9.09 at kernel version 2.6.27-17-generic

NOTE
Only the kernels above are supported. All other distributions, including 64-bit
Linux, aren’t supported.
Autopackage
The SMART Notebook software 10 installer uses the Autopackage system. You need
your root password to install SMART Notebook software 10 and the Autopackage
system. For more information about Autopackage, go to www.autopackage.org
.

Software installation
Before you install SMART Notebook, you must obtain a product key.
To obtain a product key 1. Go to smarttech.com/NB10ProductKey/
.
2. Type your SMART product’s serial number, choose your organization type, and
then click Continue.
3. Complete the customer information form.
SMART e-mails you a product key.
4. Continue the download and installation procedures while you wait for the e-mail.
During the installation, use the product key you receive from SMART to activate
your software.
NOTES
You can activate every copy of SMART Notebook software 10 in your school
using the same product key.
Until you activate the software, you have only a 30-day trial version.
To download SMART
Notebook software 10
1. Go to:
www2.smarttech.com/st/en-US/Support/Downloads/SBS/NBS10Linux.htm
2. Under the SMART Notebook software 10 full download heading, click Download.
3. Fill out the Download software form, and then click Start download.
The Download Confirmation page appears, and then the File Download dialog
box appears.
4. Click Save.
The Save As dialog box appears.
5. Browse to where you want to save the file, and then click Save.
The Download complete dialog box appears.
6. Click Close.
To install SMART
Notebook software 10
1. Browse to where you saved the file, and then double-click SMART Notebook
Software With Drivers 10.tar.gz.
Your file compression program opens.
2. Decompress SMART Notebook Software With Drivers 10.tar.gz, and then
browse to the decompressed folder.

3. If you have Autopackage installed on your computer, double-click SMART
Notebook Software With Drivers 10.package, and then follow the on-screen
installation instructions.
OR
If you don’t have Autopackage installed on your computer, make the .package file
executable and run it on terminal. This installs Autopackage and then
the software.
NOTE
For instructions on installing software with Autopackage, go to:
www.autopackage.org/howtoinstall.html
When the installation finishes, you can access SMART Notebook software 10 through
the Applications menu in the GNOME window manager.
If SMART Notebook software 10 doesn’t appear in the Applications Menu, the version
or distribution of Linux doesn’t support menu installation. You can use the command
line to start SMART Notebook software 10 by typing notebook on terminal, or you can
browse to /opt/SMART Technologies/SMART Notebook/bin, and then double-click
notebook.
