Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationofthe
equipment,operatorcontrols,andthesafetysigns.
Alloperatorsandmechanicsshouldbetrained.

Donotoperatemachinebarefootedorwhile
wearingsandals.Alwayswearsubstantial,
slip-resistantfootwearandlongpants.
Wearappropriateclothingincludinghardhat,
safetyglasses,andhearingprotection.Long
hair,looseclothing,orjewelrymaygettangledin
movingparts.
Donotpullmachinebackwardunlessabsolutely
necessary.Alwayslookdownandbehindbefore
andwhilemovingbackward.
Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturns
andcrossingroadsandsidewalks.
Materialmayricochetbacktowardtheoperator.
Donotoperateovergravelsurfaces.
Checkthattheoperatorspresencecontrols,
safetyswitches,andshieldsareattachedand
functioningproperly.Donotoperateunlessthey
arefunctioningproperly.
Neverleavearunningmachineunattended.
Shutofftheengineandwaituntilthebladecomes
toacompletestop,andremovethesparkplug
wirebeforecleaningoruncloggingthemachine.
Operatemachineonlyindaylightorgoodarticial
light.
Donotoperatemachinewhileundertheinuence
ofalcoholordrugs.
Neveroperatemachineinwetgrass.Alwaysbe
sureofyourfooting;walk;neverrun.
Neverraisethedeckwiththeenginerunning.
Ifthemachineshouldstarttovibrateabnormally,
shutofftheengineandcheckforthecause
immediately.Vibrationisgenerallyawarningof
trouble.
Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachine
intoatrailerortruck.
SlopeOperation
Slopesareamajorfactorrelatedtoslipandfall
accidents,whichcanresultinsevereinjury.Operation
onallslopesrequireextracaution.Ifyoufeeluneasy
onaslope,donotmowit.
Mowacrossthefaceofslopes;neverupand
down.Exerciseextremecautionwhenchanging
directiononslopes.
Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks,orother
hiddenobjects.Uneventerraincouldcauseaslip
andfallaccident.T allgrasscanhideobstacles.
Donotmowonwetgrassorexcessivelysteep
slopes.Poorfootingcouldcauseaslipandfall
accident.
Donotmowneardrop-offs,ditches,or
embankments.Youcouldloseyourfootingor
balance.
Whenusingthemachine,alwayskeepbothhands
onthehandlebar.
Whencuttingsteepslopesfromthetopofthe
slopeandalongerreachisneeded,nevertiethe

machinetoarope,usetheextendedhandlebar
kitoption.
Children
Tragicaccidentscanoccuriftheoperatorisnot
alerttothepresenceofchildren.Childrenareoften
attractedtothemachineandthemowingactivity.
Neverassumethatchildrenwillremainwhereyou

Keepchildrenoutofthemowingareaandunder

Bealertandturnmachineoffifachildentersthe

Useonlyanapprovedgasolinecontainer.
Neverremovegascaporaddfuelwiththeengine
running.Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.
Neverrefuelordrainthemachineindoors.
Neverstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlightsuchas
onawaterheateroronotherappliances.
Neverllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruck
ortrailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplace
containersonthegroundawayfromyourvehicle
beforelling.
Removegas-poweredequipmentfromthetruck
ortrailerandrefuelitontheground.Ifthisis
notpossible,thenrefuelsuchequipmentwitha
portablecontainer,ratherthanfromagasoline
dispensernozzle.
Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefuel
tankorcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfueling
iscomplete.Donotuseanozzlelock-opendevice.
Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothing
immediately.
Neveroverllfueltank.Replacegascapand
tightensecurely.
WARNING
Exhaustcontainscarbonmonoxide,an
odorless,deadlypoisonthatcankillyou.
Donotruntheengineindoorsorinan
enclosedarea.

Neveroperatemachineinaclosedarea.
Keepallnutsandboltstighttobesurethe
equipmentisinsafeworkingcondition.
Nevertamperwithsafetydevices.Checktheir
properoperationregularly.
Keepmachinefreeofgrass,leaves,orother
debrisbuildup.Cleanupoilorfuelspillageand
removeanyfuel-soakeddebris.Allowmachineto
coolbeforestoringinanenclosedspace.
Nevermakeanyadjustmentsorrepairswiththe
enginerunning.Disconnectthesparkplugwire
andgroundagainstenginetopreventunintended
starting.
Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingor
overspeedtheengine.
Maintainorreplacesafetyandinstructionlabels,
asnecessary.
Ifgasolineisspilled,donotattempttostartthe
enginebutmovethemachineawayfromthe
areaofspillageandavoidcreatinganysourceof
ignitionuntilthegasolinevaporhasdissipated.
Replacefaultysilencers.
Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethat
theblade,boltsandspacersarenotwornor
damaged.Replaceawornordamagedblade.
Stopthebladeifthemachinehastobetiltedfor
transportationwhencrossingsurfacesotherthan
grass,andwhentransportingthemachinetoand
fromtheareatobemowed.
Neverpickuporcarryamachinewhiletheengine
isrunning.
Shutofftheengineanddisconnectthesparkplug
wire,makesurethatallmovingpartshavecome
toacompletestop:

Beforechecking,cleaning,orworkingonthe
machine.
Afterstrikingaforeignobject.Inspectthe
machinefordamageandmakerepairsbefore
restartingandoperatingthemachine.

Ensuretheengineandthefueltankareempty
offuelbeforerotatingthemachinebeyonda45
degreeangle.
Usecarewhencheckingtheblades.Wrapthe
bladeorweargloves,andusecautionwhen
servicingthem.
Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.If
possible,donotmakeadjustmentswiththeengine
running.
Shutoffthefuelwhilestoringortransportingthe
machine.Donotfuelnearopenames,anddo
notdrainfuelindoors.
Parkthemachineonlevelground.Neverallow
untrainedpersonneltoservicethemachine.
Allowtheenginetocoolbeforestoringinany
enclosure.
Replacewornordamagedpartsforsafety.
Ifthefueltankhastobedrained,thisshouldbe
doneoutdoors.Thedrainedfuelshouldbestored
inacontainerspecicallydesignedforfuelstorage
oritshouldbedisposedofcarefully.
Starttheenginecarefullyaccordingtothe
OperatorsManualandwithfeetawayfromthe
cuttingelements.
Alwayswearearprotection.
Whentiltingthemachinetostarttheengine,do
nottiltitmorethanabsolutelynecessaryandlift
onlythepartwhichisawayfromtheoperator.

Beforeoperatingthemachineonaslope,
completeasitesurveytomeasurethe
slopewhereyouwilloperatethemachine.
Donotoperatethe4-cycleHondaengine
onthismachineonslopesgreaterthan45°.
Cleartheareaofsticks,stones,wire,branches,
andotherdebristhatthebladecouldhit.
Avoidstrikingsolidobjectswiththeblade.Never
deliberatelymowoveranyobject.
Ifthemachinestrikesanobjectorstartstovibrate,
immediatelyshutofftheengine,disconnect
thewirefromthesparkplug,andexaminethe
machinefordamage.
Forbestperformance,installanewbladebefore
thecuttingseasonbegins.
ReplacethebladewhennecessarywithaT oro
replacementblade.

Partsscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenancearewarranted
fortheperiodoftimeuptothescheduledreplacementtimeforthatpart.
Partsreplacedunderthiswarrantyarecoveredforthedurationofthe
originalproductwarrantyandbecomethepropertyofT oro.T orowillmake
thenaldecisionwhethertorepairanyexistingpartorassemblyorreplace
it.Toromayuseremanufacturedpartsforwarrantyrepairs.
DeepCycleandLithium-IonBatteryWarranty:
DeepcycleandLithium-Ionbatterieshaveaspeciedtotalnumberof
kilowatt-hourstheycandeliverduringtheirlifetime.Operating,recharging,
andmaintenancetechniquescanextendorreducetotalbatterylife.Asthe
batteriesinthisproductareconsumed,theamountofusefulworkbetween
chargingintervalswillslowlydecreaseuntilthebatteryiscompletelyworn
out.Replacementofwornoutbatteries,duetonormalconsumption,
istheresponsibilityoftheproductowner.Batteryreplacementmaybe
requiredduringthenormalproductwarrantyperiodatowner’sexpense.

referencedbelow,ifapplicable,thereisnootherexpresswarranty.All
impliedwarrantiesofmerchantabilityandtnessforusearelimitedto
