H1_Filtr_Bpas Function Block
Overview
The H1_Filtr_Bpas function block monitors the output of an H1 Filter Bypass Sensor that
is installed on an H1 integral filter.
T Bypass conditions can cause pump and system damage. The bypass sensor warns of
bypass conditions that may require immediate attention. The bypass sensor is not
designed to alert users that the filter is approaching the end of its normal service life. Do
not use the bypass sensor to indicate when normal filter replacement is required.
Always follow a filter replacement schedule to maximize pump life and to avoid
damaging bypass conditions.
T If a bypass condition occurs on a new pump, check for ferrous (magnetic) materials
inside the bypass sensor.
The H1 Filter Bypass Sensor outputs resistance based on the position of a bypass spool
valve. The bypass spool valve controls when oil starts bypassing the filter. The bypass
sensor changes resistance levels before the bypass spool valve allows oil to bypass the
filter. This resistance change gives an advanced warning of a bypass condition.
When the filter is not bypassing, the bypass sensor outputs a resistance of 408–612 Ω.
When the filter is about to bypass, or is actually bypassing, the bypass sensor outputs a
resistance of 98–147 Ω.
The H1_Filtr_Bpas function block indicates the bypass spool position with a Boolean
output of T or F.
When 408–612 Ω, the resistance from the bypass sensor indicates that the filter is not
bypassing, the function block outputs a F signal.
When 98–147 Ω, the resistance from the bypass sensor indicates that the filter is
about to bypass or is actually bypassing, the function block outputs a T signal.
See About Function Block Connections on page 7 for an overview of this function block’s
connections and signals.

H1_Filtr_Bpas Function Block Inputs
Input Type Range Description
Input —— —— Inputs a resistance value that indicates the position of a bypass sensor.
Outputs
H1_Filtr_Bpas Function Block Outputs
Output Type Range Description
Fault U16 —— Reports function block faults.
All fault conditions set the Bypass signal to true, regardless of the resistance value input by the bypass switch.
The Fault signal uses the standard bitwise scheme described in the Basic Function Block Library User’s Manual.
Bypass BOOL —— Outputs a T or F value based on the resistance value input by a bypass switch.
T = Resistance from the bypass switch is 98–147 Ω. The filter is about to bypass or is actually bypassing.
F = Resistance from the bypass switch is 408–612 Ω. The filter is not bypassing.

A delayed fault gets reported if the detected fault condition persists for a specified delay time. A delayed fault cannot be cleared until the fault
condition remains undetected for the delay time.

About Function Block Connections
Function Block Connections
Item Description
1 Resistance value from bypass switch.
2 Reports function block faults.
3 T = Filter is bypassing or about to bypass.
F = Filter is not bypassing.
About the Relationship between Function Block Input and Output Signals
The following plot shows the relationship between the resistance values applied to the
H1_Filtr_Bpas function block’s Input signal and its Fault and Bypass signal outputs.
When the resistance at the Input is:
At or below 60Ω, the Fault signal indicates a short-circuit fault. This fault sets the
Bypass output to true, regardless of the bypass spool position.
Between 62 and 97Ω, the Fault signal indicates an out-of-range fault. This fault sets
the Bypass output to true, regardless of the bypass spool position.
Between 98 and 147Ω, the Fault signal indicates normal operation. A Bypass output
of true at these resistance values indicates that the filter is about to bypass or is
actually bypassing.
Between 148 and 407Ω, the Fault signal indicates an out-of-range fault. This fault sets
the Bypass output to true, regardless of the bypass spool position.

Between 408 and 612Ω, the Fault signal indicates normal operation. A Bypass output
of false at these resistance values indicates that filter is not bypassing.
Between 613 and 1020Ω, the Fault signal indicates an out-of-range fault. This fault
sets the Bypass output to true, regardless of the bypass spool position.
At or above 1021Ω, the Fault signal indicates an open-circuit fault. This fault sets the
Bypass signal to true, regardless of the bypass spool position.

MC Controller—Input Configuration
If you have an SC controller, see SC Controller—Input Configuration on page 10.
You route the resistance from a bypass switch through an AnIn to the Input on the
H1_Filtr_Bpas function block.
You must change the configuration of the AnIn to accept a resistance input.
T The AnIn that you use must be identified for use as an Analog Input. Do not select an
AnIn used for Sensor Power or as an AnIn/CAN Shld.
How to Configure an AnIn
1. In the GUIDE template, enter the Inputs page.
2. Enter the AnIn page that inputs the resistance value.
3. Make the changes that are shown in the preceding figure.

SC Controller—Input Configuration
If you have an MC controller, see MC Controller—Input Configuration on page 9.
You route the resistance from a bypass switch through an MFIn to the Input on the
H1_Filtr_Bpas function block.
You must change the configuration of the MFIn to accept a resistance input.
T The MFIn that you use must be configurable for use as a Resistance input.
How to Configure a MFIn
1. In the GUIDE template, enter the Inputs page.
2. Enter the MFIn page that inputs the resistance value.
3. Make the changes that are shown in the preceding figure.
