instruct
the customer on the operation, safety and maintenance regulations governing the machine.
A confirmation is required to verify that the machine and operating instructions have been handed over correctly.

For the purposes of product liability law, every farmer is an entrepreneur.
In the terms of product liability law, damage to property is any damage arising due to the machine, but not to the machine, and

excess (500 euros) exists for this liability.
Corporate damage to property within the terms of the product liability law is excluded from this liability.

Remove the screws (3) and the associated
pipe to open the hatch.

a. Pin the upper link (2) in the slot with hatch closed
(1) or in the hole (4).
First attachment without feeler wheel:
If the hatch (1) isn't screwed together with
the slot, then fix the hatch (1) in the slot
using screw (3) and the associated pipe.
Note: Lock hydraulic lower linkage (4)
so that the implement cannot swivel
out sidewards.
2. Push in support stands front (5) and back (6) and secure
with linchpins.

4. Detach cardan shaft
Before initial use check the cardan shaft
and adapt if necessary (see chapter
"Adapting the cardan shaft" in Supplement
B.
5. Connect hydraulic hoses

6. Connect electric cable for lighting (optional)
7. Lay rope in the tractor cabin.

PARKING THE IMPLEMENT
Parking HIT 8.81 / 8.91
The implement can be parked from both working position
and transport position.
Tipping hazard
Park the implement on flat, firm ground. If
the ground is soft, the support stand area
is to be enlarged using suitable means (e.g.
wooden planks).
1. Lock pivoting headstock locking device in position (B)
for transport using locking pin.

PARKING THE IMPLEMENT

Cleaning of machine parts
Be advised! Do not use a high pressure cleaner to clean
bearings and hydraulic parts.
- Danger of rust!
- After cleaning, lubricate the implement according to the
lubrication plan and perform a brief test run.
- Cleaning with too high pressure may damage the paint.
Parking in the open
• Clean piston rods and preserve using grease for longer
periods parked outside.

Winter storage
- Thoroughly clean the machine beforehand.
- Put up protection against weather.
- Protect exposed parts from rust.
- Lubricate all lubrication points according to plan.
- Park implement with rotors swivelled up.

- Use support stand (5).
- Secure support stand properly.

Do not use the jockey
wheel to park the

4. Secure the slot.
With the feeler wheel option, the upper linkage bolt
is fitted in the slot: Secure the slot using the flap (4)
during road transport. This will prevent the machine
from inadvertently moving in a longitudinal direction.
Driving on public roads
Safety information!
Switching from working to transport
position and vice versa is only to be carried
out on even, firm ground.
• Only transport the machine in the transport position!
• Observe the statutory regulations for your country/state.
Supplement C contains information on attaching a
lighting system, valid for Germany.
• Driving on public roads may only be undertaken as
described in the chapter "Transport position".
Transport position
Switch off pto for safety reasons and wait
for rotors to come to a standstill.
Ensure that the swivel range is clear and
that no-one is standing in the danger area.
Be advised!
Observe the order of operation.
1. Moving to the transport position from the
working position
1. Lower lifting gear. The machine must stand on the
centre wheel pair on the ground.
2. Swivel rotor up
With Hydrolift:
Pull the rope and simultaneously swing up the rotors
by actuating the control valve (ST).
Without Hydrolift:
The outer rotors are swivelled into transport position
by actuating the control valve (ST).

1. Set the control valve (ST) to "Raise". The chassis moves
very slightly. The outer rotors are then swivelled up to
transport position and the chassis swivelled down.
The hydraulic transport safeguard (1) locks automatically!

Safety information!
Switching from working to transport
position and vice versa is only to be carried
out on even, firm ground.
Ensure that the swivel range is clear and
that no-one is standing in the danger area.
Be advised!
Observe the order of operation.
When changing to working position (Z position):
Attention!
Only reposition locking pin (1) with
machine raised.
1. Unlock pivoting headstock.
Secure pivoting headstock in working position (A) using
pin (1).

2. Release slotted hole.
If the slotted hole was locked during transport, release
it using the swing valve (2) to enable the machine to
adapt better to the ground.
3. Lower machine. Lower the entire machine to the ground
using the tractor's lifting gear.
The machine must stand on the ground on the centre
wheel pair and still be in the transport position.
4. Release hydraulic transport securing device. Pull rope
(S) this releases the hydraulic transport securing device.
5. Lower rotors. Set tractor control unit (ST) to "Lower"
The rotors are swivelled down to working position.

1. Release hydraulic transport securing device. Pull rope
(S) this releases the hydraulic transport securing device.
2. Set tractor control valve (ST) to "Lower" The chassis
is pushed back slightly, the rotors are lowered and the
chassis raised.

OPERATION
General guidelines on working with the
machine
- Any work on the rotors may only be performed with the
p.t.o. switched off and at standstill.
- Select the driving speed that ensures all the fodder is
picked up cleanly.
- If overloaded, change down a gear on the tractor
- Raise HIT 8.81 / HIT 8.91 with the lifting gear prior to
travelling through narrow curves, and reversing.
Caution!
HIT 8.81 and HIT 8.91 swivel automatically
to middle position (M) when raised and
are locked in this position.
Ensure that the implement swivelling in
does not endanger anybody and does not
impact solid obstacles.
The lock is released automatically when
the machine is lowered.
Working on slopes
Caution! for HIT 8.81 / HIT 8.91
If the implement is raised using the lifting gear during a
curve, then the implement automatically swivels to middle
position. This can lead to hazardous situations on slopes,
due to the machine's inertia (tipping, slipping, material
breakage, etc.).
The damping struts (D) ensure that the swivelling procedure
is not jerky, but slow and continuous.
Damping struts (only HIT 8.81 / HIT 8.91)
Adjusting the damping value:
How hard or soft the damping struts react can be adjusted
here.
1. Change the damping setting with the countered screw
(1).
Note: The behaviour of both damping
struts should be as equal as possible.
Note: The damping struts are not included
in the programme for Hit 4.54 T.

Setting the strut lengths:
Adjust the strut length so that there is approx. 1 mm
clearance between the heart and the centre bolt on each
side when the combination is fully impacted.
Working instructions:
1. Jack-knife the combination completely
2. Check the lateral play of the centre bolt on the inside
of the curve (1). Play should be about 1 mm.

3. Change the lengths of the damping struts:
a. Straighten the combination
b. Remove pins from rear end of cylinder rod
c. Extend cylinder rod
If the cylinder rod cannot be
extended, reduce the damping
value. (Refer to "Setting the damping
value") After successful length
change, the damping value must
be restored.
d. Adjust the length of the cylinder rod using the
adjusting screw
e. Refit the cylinder rod
f. Jack-knife the combination - check the play - repeat
procedure until play is correctly set.
g. Repeat for the other damping struts

Hydrolift (optional for HIT 8.81 / 8.91)

If the tractor's hydraulics cannot raise the machine high
enough (position H1), then the Hydrolift option can be
retrofitted.
When switching to headland position (turning
manoeuvre in the field):
- Firstly, swivel the outside rotors up to the end stop (H2)
using the control valve (ST). The machine must still be
standing on the ground on the centre wheel pair.

- Only then can the complete machine be raised using
the tractor's lifting gear.

When changing to working position (tedding
position):
- Firstly, lower the whole machine to the ground using the
tractor's lifting gear. The machine must be standing on
the ground on the centre wheel pair, the outside rotors
are still swivelled up (H2)
- Only then can the outside rotors swivel down to the
working position using the tractor's control valve (ST).
Setting the rotor angle
The rotor angle can be set via the hole pattern below the
rotor bell. There are three positions: flat, medium and steep.
To adjust the machine inclination, insert the hole pattern
(see fig.) on all rotors accordingly.
1. Raise the implement using the tractor lifting device.
2. Pull the linchpin out of the pin
3. Pull the pin out of the hole pattern.
4. Insert the pin in the required hole pattern.
5. Secure the pin with the linchpin.
6. Lower the rotor into working position.

Setting the working height (HIT 8.81 / HIT
8.91)
Without feeler wheel:
- Set the length of the upper linkage so that the rotors
slant forward and the front spring tines have a ground
clearance of approx. 1-3 cm to a level asphalt surface.
(See Chapter "Setting the rotor incline").
With feeler wheel (optional)
1. Setting the required rotor slope
2. Open the slot locking mechanism (1)

3. Establish the desired ground clearance using the
tractor's lifting gear. Under normal conditions, the front
tine ground clearance should be 1-3 cm above a flat
asphalt surface.
4. Pin feeler wheel at ground level
5. Lower the lower linkage completely so that the machine
travels on the feeler wheel.
6. Set the upper linkage length so that when the feeler wheel
is on the ground and the lower linkage is completely
lowered, the upper linkage bolt is in the middle of the
slot.

Setting the tine angle
The tine position can be changed by turning the tine
holder (80).
• Position "S1"
Standard setting (factory setting)
• Position "S2"
For difficult conditions e.g. very dense, heavy fodder.
The spreading effect is increased in this tine position.

- Check the setting of the upper linkage (9) frequently
during work.
Setting the working height (HIT 8.91 T)
without feeler wheel:
- Set distance to ground. Setting 1 - 3 cm distance to
ground using the tractor's hydraulic system
with feeler wheel (optional)
1. Setting floating position using the tractor's hydraulic
system
2. Set feeler wheel to required length, and lock and secure
with linchpin. The three positions shown are located
on the outer panel (1, 2, 3). Given that the inner disc is
provided with 5 holes, increments of about 8° can be set
by always inserting the pin through the next completely
free hole.

Field boundaries - edge tedders
(optional)
Two possibilities for setting:
1. Setting running wheels mechanically (not HIT
8.91 T)
There are 3 positions for the running wheels: 20° left /
neutral / 20° right. The running wheels can be adjusted
centrally using lever (2).
1. Release spring-loaded bolt (2)
2. Place lever (3) in required position
3. Allow bolt (2) to click into place.

2. Hydraulic adjustment of the running wheels
There are 3 positions for the running wheels: 20° left /
neutral / 20° right. The running wheels can be adjusted
centrally from the tractor using the second double-acting
control unit.
- Set control unit to "raise" to move the running wheels
to the left
- Set control unit to "lower" to move the running wheels
to the right.
Field edges can be cleared by swivelling the running wheels.
Fence tedding display for the hydraulic tedding
system:
Here the current position of the tedding system can be read
from the tractor. The neutral position is marked, see figure.
The indicator (1) at the arm shows the neutral position.

Note!
Before folding, swivel the machine into
transport or headland position in neutral,
to prevent any damage to the machine.
Instruction (HIT 8.81 / HIT 8.91)
The tilting axles also allow boundary tedding with three-point
implements. The swivel range (9) is used to the maximum
in this working position.
Therefore the machine must be raised when taking a bend
away from the field edge or at the end of the field.
Be advised!
With this, the machine returns to middle
position.
