ToaccesstheAxisproduct,youmustsetthepasswordforthedefaultadministratoruserroot.ThisisdoneintheCongureRoot

Passworddialog,whichopenswhentheproductisaccessedforthersttime.

Topreventnetworkeavesdropping,therootpasswordcanbesetviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,whichrequiresanHTTPS

certicate.HTTPS(HypertextTransferProtocoloverSSL)isaprotocolusedtoencrypttrafcbetweenwebbrowsersandservers.The

HTTPScerticateensuresencryptedexchangeofinformation.SeeHTTPSonpage39.

Thedefaultadministratorusernamerootispermanentandcannotbedeleted.Ifthepasswordforrootislost,theproductmustbe

resettothefactorydefaultsettings.SeeHowtoresettofactorydefaultsettingsonpage50.

TosetthepasswordviaastandardHTTPconnection,enteritdirectlyinthedialog.

TosetthepasswordviaanencryptedHTTPSconnection,followthesesteps:

1.ClickUseHTTPS.

Atemporarycerticate(validforoneyear)iscreated,enablingencryptionofalltrafctoandfromtheproduct,andthe

passwordcannowbesetsecurely.

2.Enterapasswordandthenre-enterittoconrmthespelling.

3.ClickOK.Thepasswordhasnowbeencongured.

TheliveviewwindowintheproductprovidesaccesstoH.264andMotionJPEGvideostreams,andtothelistofavailablestream

proles.Otherapplicationsandclientscanaccessvideostreamsdirectly,withoutgoingviatheliveviewwindow.

H.264can,withoutcompromisingimagequality,reducethesizeofadigitalvideolebymorethan80%comparedwiththeMotion

JPEGformatandasmuchas50%morethantheMPEG-4standard.Thismeansthatmuchlessnetworkbandwidthandstoragespace

arerequiredforavideole.Orseenanotherway,muchhighervideoqualitycanbeachievedforagivenbitrate.

Decidingwhichcombinationofprotocolsandmethodstousedependsonyourviewingrequirements,andonthepropertiesof

Thismethod(RTPoverUDP)shouldbeusedforlivemulticastvideo.Thevideostreamisalways

up-to-date,evenifsomeframesaredropped.

Multicastingprovidesthemostefcientusageofbandwidthwhentherearelargenumbersof

clientsviewingsimultaneously.Amulticastcannothowever,passanetworkrouterunlessthe

routerisconguredtoallowthis.ItisnotpossibletomulticastovertheInternet,forexample.

Notealsothatallmulticastviewerscountasoneunicastviewerinthemaximumtotalof10

simultaneousconnections.

AXISMediaControlnegotiateswiththeAxisproducttodeterminethetransportprotocoltouse.Theorderofpriority,listedinthe

AMCControlPanel,canbechangedandtheoptionsdisabled,tosuitspecicrequirements.

thebitrateaccordingtothecomplexity,usingupmorebandwidthforincreasedactivityinthescene,andlessforlowersceneactivity.

Variablebitrateissuitableifthereisasurplusinbandwidth,wheretheincreasedbitratemaynotbeanissue.

Ifyouhavelimitedbandwidth,werecommendMaximumbitrate(MBR).MBRallowsyoutosetatargetbitratetocontrolthe

bandwidthconsumption.Thetargetvaluelimitsthebitrate,butitmaintainsaexibilitytobeabletoprioritizeacontinuousvideo

stream.Consequently,theframeratemightneedtogodownandtheimagequalitymightdecrease.Topartlycompensateforthis,

LocalContrastappliescontrasttoaspecicareaoftheimage.Usetheslidertoadjustthecontrast,whereahighervalueproduces

animagewithhighcontrastbetweenthedarkandlightareasandissuitableforsceneswithwidedynamicrange.

UsetheNoisereductionslidertoadjustthenoisereductionlevel.Ahighervalueproducesanimagewithlittlenoise,butatthe

expenseofdetailsintheimage.Noisereductionmayincreasetheamountofmotionblur.

Videoinput

•ThevaluesintheOffsetAdjustmentseldsaffectthehorizontalandverticalsynchronizationfortheimage.Thiscan

beusedtoeliminateanyblackbordersurroundingtheimage.Highvalues,bothnegativeandpositivecanputthe

imageoutofsync.

•De-interlacing-isusedtoimprovevideostreamimagequalityfromanalogdevices.Selectanyofthefollowingoptions

•Theimagewidthandheight,inpixels,mustbeexactlydivisiblebyfour.

•Theimagecannotbelargerthanthemaximumimageresolution.

•Ifyoucombineatextoverlaywithandimageoverlay,thetextoverlayalwaystakespresidenceovertheoverlayimagein

height.Atextoverlayalwaysstretchesacrossthewholevideoimagewhichmeansyoucannotshrinktheoverlaystripto
