5
Danger to life, risk of
poisoning!
due to combustion gases when using
the device at the same time as a
fireplace depending on the air in the
room.
Toxic combustion gases (carbon
monoxide) can be drawn into the living
room from the chimney or the
extraction duct.
Fireplaces depending on room air (e.g.
gas, oil, wood or coal-fired heaters,
continuous-flow water heaters,
instantaneous water heaters) draw in
air from the room in which they are
installed and discharge the exhaust
fumes to the outside via an exhaust
system (e.g. chimney).
When used for exhaust air operation,
the cooktop extractor draws in air from
the room it is installed in and from
neighbouring rooms. If there is
insufficient air, an underpressure will
occur. Toxic gases could be drawn out
of the chimney or extraction ducting
and back into the room.
A sufficient supply of fresh air must
therefore always be ensured.
When using the cooktop extractor and
fireplaces at the same time, the
underpressure in the room in which the
fireplace is installed may not exceed 4
Pa (4 x 10-5 bar). A safety-related
device (e.g. window contact switch,
minimum pressure controller) ensuring
that a safe supply of fresh air is
guaranteed must always be used. The
exhaust air may not be ducted into a
chimney that is used for exhaust gases
of devices operated with gas or other
combustibles. This must be checked
and approved by an authorised person
(e.g. chimney sweeper).
If the cooktop extractor is only used
in air circulation mode, the device can
be operated without any restrictions.
The integrated cooktop extractor
may not be used with other cooktops.
As far as the design of the exhaust
air line is concerned, the official
regulations must be observed.
Use
Information for persons with heart
pacemakers, hearing aids and metallic
implants:
Induction cooktops create a high-
frequency electromagnetic field in the
area of the cooking zones. Under
unfavourable conditions, heart
pacemakers, hearing aids or metallic
implants may be negatively influenced
or start to malfunction when in the
immediate vicinity of the cooking
zones.
A negative influence on the proper
functioning of the heart pacemaker is
improbable.
However, if you have any doubt,
please contact the manufacturer of the
heart peacemaker or consult your
doctor.

is not working, switch the device off.
Fire hazard!
Do not place any inflammable
objects on the cooktop.
Burn hazard!
Do not leave any objects made of
metal (e.g. pot cover, extractor cover,
knives, forks and cooking tops) on the
cooktop. These objects can heat up
very fast and may cause burns.
Prevent liquid meals from boiling
over.
Do not touch the hot hobs with a
device connection cable. This could
cause damage to the cable insulations
and the cooktop.
Fire hazard!
Do not leave the cooktop unattended
when it is switched on!
Empty cooking pots can cause
damage to the glass ceramic.
Overheated oil or fat can easily ignite.
Fire hazard! Do not leave oil or fat to
heat up unattended. If oil catches fire,
do not use water to put the fire out.
Suffocate the fire, for example by using
a lid.
Risk of injury!
Always keep the hob and and the
base of the pot dry. If there are liquids
between the base of the pot and the
hob, a steam pressure can be built up
that could discharge very suddenly.
Danger of electric shock!
If there are any cracks, fissures or
fractures in the glass ceramic, switch
the device off immediately and
disconnect it from the mains (fuse
box).
Do not store any small objects or
paper below the device as they could
be sucked in and cause damage to the
fan or impair the proper functioning of
the cooling.
Risk of explosion!
Aluminium foil or any other
inflammable materials (sprays) may
not be stored close to the cooktop.
Do not place any hot pots or pans in
the area of the operating panel. This
can cause damage to the electronics
located underneath the panel.
Do not place any hot pots or pans on
the extractor cover and do not touch
the edge of the extractor opening with
the hot pots or pans. This could cause
damage to the plastic parts.
Do not use the cooktop extractor
without the stainless steel grease filter
and without the extractor cover. This
enables you to prevent fat and dirt
deposits from accumulating in the
device and objects from being
accidentally sucked in.
Do not leave any objects in the
immediate vicinity of the cooktop
extractor. They may be sucked due to
the air flow. This may cause damage to
the device.
7
Fire hazard!
Clean or replace the filters at regular
intervals. Fire hazard due to fat
deposits in the stainless steel fat filter.
Fire hazard!
Do not carry out any work involving
an open flame (e.g. flambéing) when
the cooktop extractor is switched on.
Fire hazard due to sucked in kitchen
fat.
Do not use a steam cleaner for
cleaning. The steam may reach live
parts and cause a short-circuit.
Avoiding damage to the cooktop
Make sure that the base of the
cooking utensils as well as the cooking
zone are clean and dry.
Always lift the cooking utensils off
the cooktop, do not drag them over the
surface. Avoid scratches and abrasion
on the surface.
Do not use the cooktop surface as
kitchen worktop. Hard and pointed
objects may cause damage to the
surface.
Make sure that no foods or drinks
containing sugar or salt are spilled on
the hot cooking zones. This could
cause damage to the surface. If foods
or drinks containing sugar are spilled
on the hot cooking zone nevertheless,
remove them immediately.
Make sure to prevent food from
boiling over.
Noises
The following noises may occur in the
cooking utensils, depending on the
material and the finish of the base,
when using induction cooktops:
A humming may occur when using a
high power level. It decreases or
disappears if the power level is
decreased.
A crackling or whistling sound may
occur when using cooking utensils
whose base is made of different
materials (e. g. sandwich base).
Clicking sounds may occur during
electronic switching procedures
especially at low power levels.
In order to increase the service life of
the electronic system, the device is
equipped with a cooling fan. If the
device is used intensively, the fan will
switch on and you will hear a buzzing
sound. The cooling fan may also
continue running after the device has
been switched off.

Operating the cooktop
Function of induction cooktops
An induction coil is located underneath an
induction cooktop. If the cooking zone is
switched on, this coil creates a magnetic field
that acts directly on the base of the pot thus
heating it up. The cooking zone is only
indirectly heated up by the heat emitted by the
pot. Induction cooking zones only work if
cooking utensils featuring a magnetisable base
are placed on them (see chapter on cooking
utensils).
The induction automatically takes into account
the size of the used cooking utensils which
means it will only be active in the area covered
by the pot base.
The cooking zone does not work
- if it is switched on without or with
unsuitable cooking utensils. Cooking
utensils featuring a magnetisable base
are required.
- if the base diameter of the cooking
utensils is too small.
- if the cooking utensils are removed
from a switched on cooking zone.
When using cooking utensils that are
unsuitable or too small, will be shown in the
cooking zone display.
Cooking utensils
The cooking vessel used for the induction
cooktop must be made of metal, feature
magnetic properties and possess a sufficient
bottom surface.
Suitable cooking utensils are made of:
- stainless steel with a magnetisable
base
- enamelled steel
- cast iron
Unsuitable cooking utensils are made of:
- stainless steel with a non-
magnetisable base
- aluminium, copper
- glass/ceramic, stoneware
You can determine the suitability of the
cooking utensils as follows:
Make sure that the cooking utensils bear the
sign indicating that they are suitable for use
with induced current or carry out the magnet
test. If a magnet sticks to the base of the
utensils, they are normally induction
compatible.
The base of the cooking utensils must not
have any sharp grooves or sharp edges.
Make sure to only use cooking vessels with
a flat base. The base of the cooking utensils
should not show any sign of curvature. Due to
an incorrect temperature monitoring caused by
the air gap between the cooking utensils and
the temperature sensor underneath the hob,
the curvature can cause the cooking utensils to
overheat.
The cooking utensils must be placed directly
on the glass ceramic. Do not use trivets or the
like.
The pot diameter should be at least:
Front cooking zone 120 mm
Rear cooking zone 90 mm
Tips on energy saving
In the following, you will find some important
tips on how to use your new induction cooktop
and the cooking utensils in an energy-saving
and efficient manner.
When purchasing pots, be sure to note that it
is the upper pot diameter that is frequently
indicated. In most cases, this diameter is
bigger than that of the pot base.
Due to the closed cooking chamber and the
overpressure, pressure cookers are especially
time and energy saving. Due to the short
cooking time, vitamins are preserved.
Make sure that there is always a sufficient
amount of liquid in the pressure cooker, since
the cooking zone and the pot could be
damaged due to overheating when using an
empty pot.
If possible, always close the cooking pots
using a suitable lid.
The correct pot should be used for the
respective amount of food. A big pot that is
barely filled requires a lot of energy.

level for an unusually long period of time (see
table), it will switch off automatically and the
corresponding residual heat display will
appear.
If you want to put the cooking zone back into
operation, switch it back on normally.

Cooking zone overtemperature protection
The induction coils and cooling elements of the
electronic system are each equipped with an
overheat protection. Before the induction coils
and/or cooling elements overheat, the overheat
protection will initiate one of the following
measures:
- A switched on power setting will be
disabled.
The indicator will switch to .
- The set power level is reduced.
- The cooking zones switch off
automatically.
At the display, an will appear.
Permanent pressing of buttons
The cooktop will switch off automatically if one
or more of the sensor keys are covered for
more than approx. 10 seconds, e.g. due to
finger contact or by objects placed on them.
- The error message will be
displayed.
- After a few seconds, the cooktop will
switch off.
Clean the operating panel and/or remove the
objects.
You can now put the cooktop back into
operation.
17
Cleaning and maintenance
Always switch the device off before carrying
out any cleaning or maintenance work. Switch
off the fuse.
Let the device cool down before cleaning it.
Do not use a steam cleaner for cleaning. The
steam may reach live parts and cause a short-
circuit.
During and after the cleaning, make sure
that none of the cooking zones is inadvertently
switched on.
Clean the device after every use. Dry the
device after every wet cleaning, as this will
reduce limescale residues.
Important! Do not use any aggressive
cleaning agents such as coarse abrasives,
scratching scouring pads, rust and stain
removers etc.
Glass ceramic cooktop
Cleaning after use
Always clean the entire cooktop if it is dirty –
the best would be after every use. Use a damp
cloth and a small amount of dishwashing
detergent for cleaning. Afterwards, rub the
cooktop dry using a clean cloth so that no
dishwasher detergent residues remain on the
surface.
Weekly maintenance
Thoroughly clean and maintain the entire
cooktop once a week using commercially
available glass ceramic cleaning agents.
The instructions of the respective manufacturer
must always be adhered to.
When applied, the cleaning agents will create a
protective film that has a water and dirt
repellent effect. All of the soiling will remain on
the film and can then be removed more easily.
Use a clean cloth to rub the surface dry
afterwards. No cleaning agent residues may
remain on the surface, as they will have an
aggressive effect when heated up which could
affect the surface.
Special soiling
Heavy soiling and stains (limescale stains,
pearly shimmering stains) are best to be
removed if the cooktop is still hand-warm. Use
commercially available cleaning agents for this
purpose.
Boiled over foods are to be softened using a
damp cloth first before removing the residual
dirt using a special glass scraper for glass
ceramic cooktops.
Burned-in sugar and melted plastic are to be
immediately removed – while still being hot –
using a glass scraper.
Grains of sand that may fall onto the cooking
surface when peeling potatoes or cleaning
salad can cause scratches when being moved
around. Therefore, make sure that no grains of
sand remain on the surface.
Changes in the colour of the cooktop do not
affect the functionality and stability of the glass
ceramic. These changes in colour are not
caused by damages to the cooktop, but by
residues that were not removed and have
therefore been burnt into the surface.
Glossy spots are caused by the abrasion of
the pot base, especially when using cooking
utensils with aluminium bases, or by unsuitable
cleaning agents. They are very hard to remove
with commercially available cleaning agents.
The cleaning may have to be repeated several
times. Due to the use of aggressive cleaning
agents and the abrasion caused by the pot
bases, the decor will become abraded over
time and dark stains will occur.
Cooktop extractor
Clean the surfaces of the exhaust air system
using a soft, damp cloth, detergent or a mild
window cleaning agent. Soften dried dirt
residues using a damp cloth. Do not scratch!
Cleaning the air inlet nozzle
Cleaning the stainless steel fat filter
The air inlet nozzle and the stainless steel fat
filter take up the greasy components of the
kitchen vapour. Clean these parts at least once
a week. When preparing foods that contain a
lot of fat, the parts must be cleaned after every
use.
Do not use any aggressive, acidic or alkaline
cleaning agents.
The air inlet nozzle and the stainless steel fat
filter can be cleaned in the dishwashing
machine or by hand.
Only clean the stainless steel surfaces in the
polishing direction and by using suitable
cleaning agents.
Clean the air inlet nozzle and the stainless
steel fat filter in the dishwashing machine at a
temperature of max. 55 °.
EN
18
Do not clean heavily soiled stainless steel fat
filters along with dishes in the dishwashing
machine.
If the filter is washed by hand, use a brush
for cleaning and rinse the filter thoroughly
afterwards.
Installing and removing the air inlet nozzle
The air inlet nozzle must always be installed
during operation.
Removing the air inlet nozzle
Switch off the cooktop extractor.
Grab the air inlet nozzle in the access
opening in the middle with your hand and
remove it by pulling it out upwards.
Installing the air inlet nozzle
Insert the air inlet nozzle into the centre of
the exhaust air opening and let it lock into
place by slightly pushing it down.
Removing the stainless steel fat filter
Switch off the cooktop extractor.
Remove the air inlet nozzle.
In order to remove the stainless steel fat
filter, hold it at the handle and pull it out of
the suction opening.
Installing the stainless steel fat filter
In order to insert the stainless steel fat filter,
hold it at the handle and insert it into the
suction opening. Here, the stainless steel
fat filter must rest on the lower housing
base. Locking the filter is not required.
Cleaning the air guiding housing
Carry out a basic cleaning of the lower air
guiding housing every 6 months and when
changing the activated carbon filters at the
latest. The surfaces can take up greasy
components and limescale residues of the
kitchen vapour.
Opening the air guiding housing
Always switch the device off before opening
it. Switch off the fuse.
Risk of injury due to still moving fan wheel.
At first, open both locks on the rear side.
Hold the housing base with your other hand
when doing so.
Then, open both front locks and remove the
housing base.
19
Closing the air guiding housing
Hold the housing base using both hands
and position the base in such a way that the
locking latches at the housing base are
aligned with the retainer hooks at the
housing.
Now, insert the housing base at the sealing
groove of the air guiding housing.
Push the housing base upwards and let the
locks lock into place by pushing at the
cover.
Replacing the activated carbon filter
For air circulation operation, an activated
carbon filter must be installed in addition to the
stainless steel fat filter. It will bind the odorous
substances occurring during cooking.
The activated carbon filter must always be
replaced if the odorous substances are no
longer sufficiently bound or if the required
extraction rate is no longer provided. At the
latest, it should be replaced once the filter
service indicator is shown at the fan display.
You can purchase the activated carbon filter
BAKF at your specialist dealer or on the BORA
online service website, under
www.boragmbh.com/service/basic
The used activated carbon filter can be
disposed of with the household waste.
Removing the activated carbon filter
Switch off the cooktop extractor.
Open the lock in the middle first before
opening the external locks and fold down
the cover until it locks into place.
Push the filter retainer to the back. Hold the
activated carbon filter with your other hand
when doing so.
Pull down the activated carbon filter in order
to remove it.
Inserting the activated carbon filter
Switch off the cooktop extractor.
In order to insert the activated carbon filter,
position it in such a way that the directional
arrow is pointing to the rear and is visible
from below.
Slide the activated carbon filter into the
housing and push it upwards.
Slide the activated carbon filter over the
retainer so that the activated carbon filter
locks into place.
Fold the cover upwards and let the locks
lock into place by pushing at the cover.
