General Warning
Risk of bodily injury!
Never use this device to look directly at the sun or
in the direct proximity of the sun. This will result in
a risk of blindness.
Do not place the device, particularly the lenses, in direct
sunlight. The concentration of light could cause a fi re.
Do not disassemble the device. In the event of a defect, please
contact your dealer. The dealer will contact the Service Centre
and can send the device in to be repaired, if necessary.
Do not expose the device to high temperatures.
This device contains electronic components which operate via
a power source (power supply and/or batteries). Do not let
children use the device while unattended. Only use the device
as described in the manual, or you run the risk of an electric
shock.
Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Make sure you in-
sert the batteries correctly. Empty or damaged batteries could
cause burns if they come into contact with the skin. If neces-
sary, wear adequate gloves for protection.
Do not expose the device to high temperatures. Use only
the recommended batteries. Do not short-circuit the device
or batteries, or throw them into a fi re. Excessive heat or im-
proper handling could trigger a short-circuit, fi res or even
explosions.
Use only the recommended batteries. Always replace weak
or empty batteries with a new, complete set of batteries at full
capacity. Do not use batteries from different brands or with
different capacities. The batteries should be removed from the
unit if it has not been used for a long time.
Privacy PROTECTION!
The range fi nder is intended only for private use.
Please heed the privacy of other people. Do not
use it to look into apartments, for example.
Parts Overview (Fig. 1)
1. Scope eyepiece (with distance display)
2. Scope objective (also laser emission objective)
3. Laser reception objective
4. Mode button (MODE)
5. Trigger button (ON/MEASURE)
6. Battery compartement with cover
7. Dust cap
Usage
Your range fi nder combines the functions of a common telescope
and a laser distance-measuring instrument. It can measure the
distance of any object in the fi eld of view, and it displays the
distance directly. Because of its small volume and light weight, it
can be carried conveniently. It only needs a 9V battery, which is
convenient to buy and to change.
9
EN
Range fi nders can be widely used in sports and activities like golf
and hunting to measure the distance, of buildings or electrical
wire poles, as well as to measure the general terrain.
Fig. 1 shows the shape of the range fi nder.
Inserting the battery
Slide the battery compartment cover (Fig. 1, 6) out using your
thumb, and raise it up. Insert the 9V compound battery into the
compartment, padded corners fi rst.
NOTE:
Make sure when inserting the battery that
the polarity is correct (+/–) as shown on
the compartment cover.
i
After inserting the battery, press the cover down again,
and slide it back to its original position against the direction of
the arrow on the cover.
Operation
1. Look through the eyepiece (Fig. 1, 1). As this device has a
xed focus system, there is no need to focus manually.
2. Depress the function button (Fig. 1, 5) for about 3 seconds
to turn the device on. Now when you look into the eyepiece
(Fig. 1, 1), the function symbols appear in the lens coverage
(Fig. 2).
3. To measure distance, aim the central circle (Fig. 2, 1) at the
object, and then press the function button (Fig. 1, 5) briefl y.
The distance of the object will be shown at the top of the func-
tion display.
4. When turning on the device, the measurement unit last used
(M, for metres, or Y, for yards) (Fig. 2, 2/3) will appear. This
can be changed by pressing the mode button and holding it
down after turning the range fi nder on. The measurement unit
in the display will then change.
5. The power will be switched off automatically after approxi-
mately 15 seconds if the distance-measuring instrument is
not used.
NOTE:
Distance measuring with the range fi nder is affec-
ted by the characteristics of the object (i.e. color,
surface fi nish, size and shape), the angle of the
emitted laser beam to the target and the lighting
conditions (e.g. the visibility due to the weather).
i
If the object is large, the color of the object is bright (highly re-
ective), the surface is smooth and shiny and the laser beam is
perpendicular to the surface of the object, the maximum range
is increased. Conversely, if these conditions are not met, the
maximum range is decreased.
Measurement precision may be infl uenced by grass, leaves,
twigs and other debris covering the object.
10
Display System (Fig. 2)
1. Symbol for aim (Fig. 2, 1): The inner circle should be aimed
at the object to be measured.
2. Distance display (Fig. 2, 4): The distance is indicated with
three digits. If ‘- - - -’ is shown, no distance can be measured.
3. Distance unit: M, for metres (Fig. 2, 2); or Y, for yards (Fig.
2, 3)
Troubleshooting
If the range fi nder ceases to function due to incorrect opera-
tion, remove the battery compartment cover (Fig. 1, 6) to cut the
electric current. Then replace the cover, and see if the device
functions normally. If not, consult the dealer. Devices which be-
come defective during the warranty period can be returned to
the dealer where the device was bought.

NOTES on cleaning
• Separate the device from the power supply before cleaning by
removing the plug or batteries.
Clean the eyepieces and lenses only with a soft, lint-free cloth,
like a microfi bre cloth. Do not apply excess pressure to the
cloth to avoid scratching the lenses.
To remove more stubborn dirt, moisten the cleaning cloth with
an eyeglass-cleaning solution, and wipe the lenses gently.
• Protect the device from dust and moisture. Store it in the sup-
plied bag or transportation packaging. The batteries should be
removed from the unit if it has not been used for a long time.
11
EN
The mode button (MODE) and the trigger button (ON/MEAS-
URE) should not be pressed at the same time; this may cause
the unit to malfunction.
DISPOSAL
Dispose of the packaging materials properly, according
to their type, such as paper or cardboard. Contact your
local waste-disposal service or environmental authority
for information on the proper disposal.
Do not dispose of electronic devices in the household
garbage.
As per Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parlia-
ment on waste electrical and electronic equipment and
its adaptation into German law, used electronic devices
must be collected separately and recycled in an environ-
mentally friendly manner.
In accordance with the regulations concerning batteries and re-
chargeable batteries, disposing of them in the normal household
waste is explicitly forbidden. Please pay attention to dispose of
your used batteries as required by law - at a local collection point
or in the retail market (a disposal in domestic waste violates the
Battery Directive).
Batteries that contain toxins are marked with a sign and a
chemical symbol.
