6. Before using
6.1 Activating the battery
Remove the strip from the battery compartment (4) on the
bottom of the bathroom scale. The scale is now ready for
use.
7. Getting started
7.1 Switching on the bathroom scale / measuring weight
The bathroom scale must be calibrated before first use or after having been
moved to ensure that it can determine one's weight precisely. To do so, step
briefly on to the scale surface (2), step off it again and wait until the bathroom
scale switches off automatically. The bathroom scale is now calibrated.
Due to the Step-On-Power function, the bathroom scale is switched on automatically when you step
on the scale surface (2) and starts to measure your weight immediately.
In its original state, the bathroom scale is set to the “kg” unit of weight. To change the unit of weight,
press the “Button for Setting the Weight Unit” (3). The selected unit of weight is then indicated on the
LC display (1).
Stand on the scale surface (2) of the bathroom scale so that your weight is evenly distributed. Remain
as still as possible during the weighing process as the measurement result may be distorted otherwise.
The measurement result is indicated on the LC display (1) during the weighing process. The
measurement is complete when the display flashes three times.
A solid surface is required to measure weight correctly. Thus always place the
bathroom scale on a solid, horizontal floor covering and never on carpet. This
can distort the measurement result.
SilverCrest SPWE 180 A1
US-EN - 11
To obtain comparable measurement results, you should always weigh yourself if
possible at the same time of day (preferably in the morning). Always weigh
yourself if possible under the same conditions: on an empty stomach, after having
gone to the toilet and naked.
Please note that values for the stone unit of weight are not represented as decimal
values. The display is divided into two segments by a colon. Whole numbers are
displayed only in the “st” unit of weight to the left of the colon. The remaining
weight is displayed in the “lb” unit of weight to the right of the colon.
Example: “6: 8.0 st” is shown on the display. This corresponds to 6 st and 8 lb.
7.2 Auto power off
The bathroom scale has an automatic switch-off function (Auto Power Off function).
The bathroom scale switches off automatically approx. 15 seconds after stepping off the scale
surface (2).
The bathroom scale also switches off automatically approx. 15 seconds after the weight
measurement if you do not step off the scale surface (2).
7.3 Replacing the battery
Replace the battery when it is empty. To replace the CR2032 lithium
battery, remove the cover of the battery compartment (4) at the rear
of the bathroom scale by inserting a finger into the recess on the side
of the battery compartment (4). Then lift the cover of the battery
compartment (4) upwards and remove it.
To remove the battery, slide it down a bit (see the direction of the
arrow in the illustration). You can then remove the battery from the
holder.
Then insert a new CR2032 lithium battery. Always pay attention to
the polarity. It is indicated in the battery compartment (4), and the +
symbol on the CR2032 lithium battery must be visible, as shown in
the adjoining illustration.
Next, replace the battery compartment cover on the battery
compartment (4). The bathroom scale is now ready to use.
SilverCrest SPWE 180 A1

8. Troubleshooting
8.1 Nothing is indicated on the LC display
The CR2032 lithium battery is dead. Replace the CR2032 lithium battery with another of the
same type. Please note the instructions in the “Replacing the battery” section.
The CR2032 lithium battery is inserted incorrectly. Please note the instructions in the “Replacing
the battery” section.
8.2 “Lo” is indicated on the LC display, and the scale switches off
The CR2032 lithium battery is almost empty. Replace the CR2032 lithium battery with another
of the same type. Please note the instructions in the “Replacing the battery” section.
8.3 “Err” is indicated on the LC display
No weight can be determined as you are not standing still on the scale surface. Try to reduce
movements to a minimum during weighing.
8.4 “O-Ld” is indicated on the LC display
The weight exceeds the maximum weight of 180 kg / 396 lb. You should step off the scale
surface (2) immediately to avoid any damage to the bathroom scale.
9. Maintenance / cleaning
Maintenance work is necessary if the bathroom scale was damaged, for example, if the device
housing is damaged, liquids or objects have gotten inside the bathroom scale or if it was subjected
to rain or moisture. Maintenance work is also necessary if it is not operating correctly or has been
dropped. If you see smoke, hear unusual noises or smell odors, remove the battery from the bathroom
scale immediately. In these cases, do not use the bathroom scale again before it has been checked
by an expert. Only let qualified technicians perform maintenance work. Never open the housing of
the bathroom scale. Clean it only with a clean, dry cloth; never use aggressive liquids.
10. Environmental information and disposal specifications
10.1 Disposing of the packaging
Sort the packaging, before you dispose of it. Dispose of paperboard and cardboard
with the recycled paper service and wrappings with appropriate collection service.
SilverCrest SPWE 180 A1
US-EN - 13
10.2 Disposing of used devices
Do not dispose of used devices in household trash! If you are not going to use the bathroom scale
anymore, dispose of it in accordance with the applicable regulations in your state or country. This
ensures that used devices are recycled professionally and that there are no negative consequences
for the environment.
Make sure that disposal conforms to the local regulations and the EPA recommendations
(www.epa.gov).
10.3 Disposing of batteries
Remove the battery from the device before it is scrapped. Even used cells may cause injury. Keep
environmental protection in mind. Used batteries do not belong in household trash. You must drop
them off at a collection point for used batteries. Keep in mind that batteries may only be deposited
in the collection bin for used device batteries when discharged or if, in the case of batteries that are
only partially discharged, you have taken measures to prevent short circuits.
