ret ro fit of the muf fler and header pipes have been ac com plished in ac cor dance with the ini t ial

re lease of Serv ice Bul le tin M20- 257.

IN TRO DUC TION: Moo ney Air craft Cor po ra tion (MAC) has rea son to be lieve there is a pos si bil ity a prob lem

may ex ist which can cause cracks in the ex haust head ers or muf fler end caps. The

FAA has is sued a Pri or ity Let ter AD to the field for man da tory com pli ance of an ex haust

sys tem in spec tion at 5 flight hour in ter vals. MAC has is sued ret ro fit in struc tion 940095- 501-1,

which in con junc tion with ret ro fit draw ing 940095- 501, will re place the en tire ex haust

sys tem with an im proved de sign.

IN STRUC TIONS: MAC rec om mends that af ter every five (5) flight hours the en tire ex haust sys t em be

visu ally in spected for cracks by an A & P me chanic (or ap pro pri ately li censed me chanic)

in ac cor dance with the M20R Serv ice and Main te nance Man ual, Sec tion 5 and Sec tion 81

(Sec tion 78 in later S & M manu als will con tain the ex haust sys tem in for ma tion). If any

cracks are found, call Moo ney Prod uct Sup port De part ment, (210) 896- 6000, ext. 219,

for fur ther in struc tions. If no cracks are found, con tinue the in spec tions un til MAC Prod uct

Sup port De part ment con tacts you for fol low up ac tion.

When Ret ro fit Kit In struc tions, 940095- 501-1, have been com plied with, the 5 flight hour

in spec tions are no longer re quired.

WAR RANTY: Ex haust sys tem in spec tions and the sub se quent re place ment of the ex haust sys tem will

be ac com plished at no main te nance ex pense to M20R air craft own ers.
