2. Validity
JO BEAU Wood chipper-shredder model R300.
Number and serial number are detailed on the marker plate.
3. Precautions Prior to Use
The JO BEAU wood chipper-shredder has been constructed strictly and solely for
the purpose of shredding all freshly-chopped timber such as : oak, beech, birch,
ash, pine, spruce associates, bamboo, ivy, etc.
PLEASE NOTE: Do NOT feed the roots of trees and hedges, any type of
metal, stone, plastics, or timber etc. with a diameter
wider than 8 cm into the machine!!!
4. Description of the JO BEAU R300 Wood Chipper-Shredder.
The JO BEAU wood chipper-shredder is a machine for shredding loppings and
trimmed branches and twigs. The rotor blade drum holding 2 30cm length cutter
blades is driven by the cardan shaft of a garden tractor with a minimum 18 pk
motor. The shredded material is extracted through the ejector pipe as a result of
the centrifugal force. Because of the action of the cutting angle of the cutter
blades which have been ground at 30° and the position of the bottom blade,
branches and twigs are automatically pulled in, thereby rendering a feeder system
superfluous. The wide opening (300 x 150 mm) where the cutter blades are
positioned means lateral branches barely pose a problem, which in turn avoids
you from having to trim these separately first before feeding them into the
shredder!

Operating the JO BEAU R300 Wood Chipper-Shredder
1. Safety regulations and technical observations
The machine should not be operated by anyone under the age of 18
The machine should only be operated by persons who are familiar with the
operation, functions and user manual of the machine
The machine should always be set up and positioned in a stable and safe
manner, with the hand brake activated whenever possible
Whilst operating the machine, the wearing of gloves, ear protectors, safety
goggles and overalls is compulsory!!! (no loose-fitting garments)
When working indoors, provide plenty of ventilation and adequate lighting
conditions to avoid any risk of asphyxiation and injuries
Only one person should operate the machine - preferably the same person at all
times
NEVER place your hands or any such like into the inlet funnel - most certainly not
beyond the original position of the protective rubber flaps!!!
Only remove sections of wood which have ended up inside the inlet funnel in a
transverse position after you have switched off the motor and the rotor blade drum
has come to a halt before removing, or use another heavy branch to extricate
Never abandon the machine whilst in operation
In order to replace the blade and the bottom blade, the motor must be switched
off first, with the dead man's handle either disconnected or the contact in zero
position (0)
After the machine has been in operation for about 1 hour, check whether all bolts
and/or screws are securely tightened. If not, use the right-sized wrench key to
secure them into place or make an appointment to have this done by your dealer
4
Strictly use orginal JO BEAU spare parts, and if required, have your machine
serviced and/or repaired in timely fashion in case of any defects. Only when
these requisites are duly observed does your machine enjoy the warranty offered
within the 12 months following the date of purchase. At the same time, this
makes you fully compliant with CE safety regulations!!!
The machine can only be repaired at the hands of an authorised JO BEAU dealer
As the loppings are being chipped, the shredders produce a noise in excess of 90
dB (A) (sanctioned under due statutory regulations) which is why anyone
operating the machine is required to wear ear protectors
2. Putting the macine into operation
First make sure that the machine is set up in as even and as stable a manner as
possible. Please observe the danger zone at all times. This means that, when you
are actually shredding, you need to make sure no one is able to get injured as a
result of wood chips which are sent flying around.
Danger zone : 12 m - 45°

3. Operating the wood chipper-shredder
Start the motor of the tractor and allow it to warm up first. Engage the cardan with
the motor running at half throttle. Then push the motor to full throttle.
Feed the branches into the inlet funnel as you let go of them. The branches and
twigs should be pulled into the inlet funnel by themselves as it were. If this is not the
case, the blades may be unduly worn or they may be improperly aligned. Lateral
branches that are wider than 3cm in diameter must be trimmed first and fed into the
funnel separately.
PLEASE
OBSERVE
THE
FOLLOWING!!!
IF ANYTHING UNTOWARD OCCURS
,
NEVER HESITATE TO SWITCH OFF THE MOTOR OR IF
AVAILABLE
,
TO USE THE EMERGENCY STOP
.
The ejector pipe should always be firmly secured onto the machine, preventing the
chipped material from being flung out and being propelled upward so that no one
gets injured.
At all times, make sure that the inlet funnel is tightly secured with the 2 bolts and nuts
supplied!!!
4. Transport
When the machine is being shifted, make sure the cardan is duly switched off.
Various maintenance and check points of the shredder
Checks and servicing operations must be performed with the motor and driving gear
fully switched off.
Cleaning the shredder: never spray onto the ball bearings or the V-belts using a high-
pressure cleaner. Doing so may cause water to infiltrate the bearings (causing the
warranty to be forfeited).
Before storing your machine away, make sure that it is been properly cleaned and
serviced. Use oil to protect the blades, the rotor blade drum and the bearings against
corrosion.
