2 DESCRIPTION
The MD2400 repeater panel is integrated into a synthetic housing. The dimensions are 253x327x54mm
(H x B x W).
The MD2400 repeater panel duplicates the information reported on the MD2400 operator console and
thus offers the possibility to provide this information at different locations in the building.
The operating front of the MD2400 repeater panel is equipped as standard with an LCD (4x40
characters), a number of general visual indications (LED for fire alarm and failure), a number of control
buttons (Silence, Test LED, Reset, Evacuation Delayed and scroll buttons), a key switch for setting the
2 control levels and with a key switch for evacuation.
Communication between the MD2400 fire detection control panel and the MD2400 repeater panel is
serially by means of an RS485 signal.
Up to eight (8) MD2400 repeater panels can be connected to an MD2400 fire detection control panel.

3 ANNOUNCEMENTS AND CONTROLS
3.1 ANNOUNCEMENTS ON THE REPEATER PANEL
3.1.1 THE REPEATER PANEL IS AT REST
No alarm or fault indicator has been activated. All LEDs are off and the built-in buzzer is not
activated.
The LCD will display the standard screen (see “4. Display information).
The MD2400 repeater panel is in rest as long as the MD2400 fire detection control panel is in
the quiescent position.
3.1.2 ANNOUNCEMENTS IN CASE OF A FAILURE
The built-in buzzer is activated.
The yellow LEDFAULT” lights up.
The name of the group to which the detector belongs, together with the detector name and
the message sequence number, appear on the LCD. The detector name is a description of a
maximum of 28 characters related to the location of the fire detector. The sequence number
indicates the chronology of the reported failure.
Alarm announcements have priority over fault announcements. If one or more alarms are
already on the LCD, an incoming fault message will initially be suppressed. With the help of the
scroll buttons and ”, the information relating to the fault messages can still be displayed
on the LCD.
General failures, such as a siren error, a power failure, a loop error and a printer error are
reported in the same way.
3.1.3 ANNOUNCEMENTS IN CASE OF A FIRE ALARM
The built-in buzzer is activated.
The red LED ALARM” lights up.
The name of the group to which the detector belongs, together with the detector name and
the message sequence number, appear on the LCD.
The red LED EVACUATION” lights up as soon as the set delay time has elapsed.
If the Yellow LED “EVAC. DELAYEDlights up, the delay function is active. In this case, a specific
relay (usually used to control a telephone transmitter to report the fire alarm to the fire
brigade) is only activated for a set time after the fire alarm has been triggered. The delay
function is only activated during presence (permanent presence).
If the delay function is deactivated (yellow LED “EVAC. DELAYED is switched off), then this relay
is activated immediately after each fire alarm (if this relay is connected to a telephone
transmitter, the fire brigade is called immediately). The delay function is deactivated for the
duration of the absence (no permanent presence).

3.2 CONTROLS ON THE REPEATER PANEL
3.2.1 KEY SWITCH OPERATION
Placing the key switch “Operation” in positon “0” partially locks the operation of the MD2400
repeater panel. In the locked position, only the green control buttons SILENCE”, “TEST LED”
and the scroll buttons and are available.
In the unlocked position (key switch “Operation” is in the “1” position), the orange control
buttons “RESET” and “EVAC. DELAYED” are also available and the yellow LED “Operation
lights up.
3.2.2 GREEN CONTROL BUTTON “SILENCE”
The acoustic signal is switched off by means of the green SILENCE” control button. This button
is always available.
The “SILENCE” function can be set as a local operation or as a general operation using a selector
switch (switch 6 on the soldering side of the front PCB):
o GENERAL OPERATION (Default switch 6 = OFF)
When operated, the built-in warning buzzers stops on all MD2400 operator
consoles and repeater panels. The relay contacts connected to the silent
function switch back to the resting position.
The yellow LED “Silence” lights up. This LED will switch off in case of a new
message or after Reset”.
o LOCAL OPERATION (switch 6 = ON)
When the “SILENCE” button is pressed, only the built-in warning buzzer of the
respective MD2400 repeater panel stops. The warning buzzers of the other
MD2400 operator consoles and repeater panels continue to be activated. The
relay contacts connected to the silent function do not switch back to the
resting position.
Only the yellow LED “Silence” of the respective MD2400 repeater panel lights
up. This LED is switched off in case of a new message or after “Reset”.
To stop the other warning buzzers and to switch back to the resting position
of the relay contacts linked to the silence function (general silence), either the
“Silence” button of an MD2400 operator console or the Silence” button of an
MD2400 repeater panel with a general operation of the silence function must
be operated.
3.2.3 GREEN CONTROL BUTTON TEST LED”
This control button is available at any time.
Control function for the built-in buzzer and for the LED on the operating front of the MD2400
repeater panel.
3.2.4 ORANGE CONTROL BUTTON “RESET”
The control button “RESET” is only available if the key switch “OPERATION is set to position
“1” (the yellow “Operation” LED lights up).
After pressing this button, all messages and controls on the MD2400 operator consoles and
MD2400 repeater panels are deleted.
3.2.5 ORANGE CONTROL BUTTON “EVAC. DELAYED
The control button “EVAC. DELAYED” is only available if the key switch “OPERATION” is set to
position “1” (the yellow “Operation” LED lights up).

This button activates or deactivates the delay function (see also “3.1.3. Announcements in the
event of a fire alarm”).
3.2.6 KEY SWITCH EVACUATION
The key switch “EVACUATION” is always available regardless of the position of the key switch
“OPERATION”.
After operating the key switch “EVACUATION” on the MD2400 repeater panel, the red LED
“Evacuation” will light up and the system will immediately switch to evacuation (the red LED
“Evacuation” on the MD2400 operator consoles and repeater panels and the programmed
outputs during evacuation will be activated immediately).
3.2.7 SCROLL BUTTONS ” AND “
These control buttons are available at any time.
If several messages are present on the MD2400 fire detection control panel, these buttons
allow you to request the intermediate messages on the LCD.
In the quiescent state, the software version number, the address of the repeater panel and
the setting of the “Silence” function (general or local) can be retrieved using the scroll button
.

4 DISPLAY INFORMATION
The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) consists of 4 lines of text, each with 40 characters. In its quiescent
position, the LCD displays the standard screen below.
The top text line shows the programmed name for the control panel as soon as the connection
between the MD2400 fire detection control panel and the MD2400 repeater panel has been
established. If there is no connection, the upper text line will contain the “Limotec” brand name of the
system. The date and time are also shown on the top text line.
The second text line indicates the type of fire detection control panel with which the repeater panel is
connected.
The lower text line shows “In operation – No messages”. The scroll key “ can be used to request the
software version number, the address of the repeater panel (software version <x.xx> address: <x>) and
the setting of the “Silence” function (general or local).
The LCD is divided into a number of fields. As soon as a message is present on the MD2400 fire
detection control panel, the LCD takes the form described below.
Line 1
Line 2
Line 3
Line 4
Fields a and a’ always contain information relating to the nature of the message (fire alarm fault
pre-alarm).
Fields b and b’ show the name of the group to which the detector belongs.
Fields c and c’ show the name of the detector.
Fields d and d’ show the sequence number of the alarm, fault or pre-alarm.

If there is only one message on the system, the two upper text lines and the two lower text lines
contain identical information.
If several messages occur simultaneously on the MD2400 fire detection control panel, the two upper
lines of text contain the information relating to the first message that occurred, while the two lower
lines of text display the information relating to the last message that occurred. With the help of the
scroll keys, all intermediate information can be displayed on the 2 upper text lines.
The alarm information always has priority over the fault information. That is why all alarms are shown
first, followed by the pre-alarms (with a new sequence of numbers (box d)) and then the faults (again
with a separate numbering for the order).
The LCD is equipped with a backlight, which lights up automatically when you receive a message or
when you press a button on the operator front of the MD2400 repeater panel. The backlight will turn
off automatically after 180 seconds in case of an alarm or fault message and after 30 seconds in all
other situations.
