Before using this unit please read these operating instructions carefully. Take special
care to follow th warnings indicated on the unit itself as well as the safety suggestions
listed below. Keep them handy for future reference.
Power source The unit should be connected to power supply only of the type
described in the operating instructions or as marked on the unit.
Water and Moisture Do not use this unit near water.
Heat Do not install the unit near heat sources such as radiators, stoves, heat
registers, or other appliances that produce heat.
Ventilation The unit should be situated so that its location or position does not
interfere with its proper ventilation.
Foreign material Care should be taken so that objects do not fall into liquids or not
spilled into the unit.
Surface Place the unit on a flat, level surface.
Damage Requiring Service - The unit should be serviced by qualified service
personnel when:
- The power cord or the plug has been damaged: or
- Object have fallen or liquid has been spilled into the unit: or
- The unit has been exposed to rain: or
- The unit dos not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change

Before making any connections, disconnect the ground
terminal from the battery to avoid a short circuit.

Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the Sentinel 5 Black & White RearView Monitor.
This system promotes and prevents backing-up and parking accidents, by
allowing you to view or check on the traffic behind your vehicle, or when rounding
corners (blind spot prevention).
This monitor is suitable for waste trucks, RV campers, vans & cars and should
be used in combination with the Sentinel RearView cameras. An added benefit of
this monitor is compatibility with the Sentinel Electric Shutter camera, which has
a motorized visor to protect the cameras lens when its not in use.

1. Day/Night Switch
Normally this switch should be in the out position ( DAY)
When you view the picture at night or in a tunnel, etc, depress the switch to
reduce the picture brightness ( NIGHT)
2. Camera Selector
Depress the camera selector ( CA 1) to select the camera connected to CA 1
Press the camera selector ( CA 2) to select the camera connected to CA 2
3. MIR/NOR Switch
When the switch is in NOR ( ) position, the picture will be normally displayed.
When the switch is in MIR ( ) position, the picture will be reversed.
4. Contrast Control
Adjust the contrast control for the desired overall best picture
Turn clockwise to increase the picture contrast and counterclockwise to decrease it.
5. Brightness Control
Adjust the brightness control for the best overall picture or display brightness
Turn clockwise to increase the picture brightness and counterclockwise to decrease
it
6. Audio Control
Adjust the audio volume for the desired level
Turn clockwise to increase the audio volume and counterclockwise to decrease it
7. Power Switch
Press the power switch ( ON) to turn the monitor ON
Press the power switch again to turn the monitor OFF ( STAND BY). The
monitor is in the standby condition.

8. Power Connector
Insert the supplied power cable connector firmly until it is locked
To remove the power connector, press in the clip and pull out the connector, while
holding the clip down
9. Video Output Connector
Connect video to a second monitor or to a VCR/DVR
10. Audio Output Connector
Connects audio to a second monitor or VCR/DVR
11. Camera Input Connector
There are two mini DIN type connections for the video camera inputs
Connect the black and white video camera to the monitor with the supplied cable

Monitor Installation
Install the monitor on a surface which will support more than 4 kg (10 lbs) of weight
Install the monitor away from any speaker mounted in the vehicle so that the picture
is not distorted by the speakers magnetic field
Do not install the unit in an extremely hot or humid place (radiator, air duct, etc) or
in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust, mechanical vibration or shock.
The monitor is not waterproof
(A) Attach the supplied mounting bracket to the ceiling or floor
(B) Adjust the angle of the monitor and fasten the screws firmly
(C) Install the sunshield

Note: The Red wire with the fuse holder should be connected to car or
trucks ACC Terminal, the Green wire to reverse gear relay, and the Black

Connections
Connect the RED wire to the (10V32V DC) power terminal, which is
energized with the ignition key.
Connect the BLACK wire to the metal point of the vehicle or the negative
battery post.
Connect the GREEN wire to the switched power output terminal of the “R”
(reverse) gear.

Operating Instructions
When you turn the ignition key to the Accessory or ON position, power is
supplied to the monitor and the monitor is in standby (If the Power button
is not pushed in)
When you push the power button you can view the picture from the
camera manually
When the system is in stand-by, and you shift the gear into
reverse, the monitor will automatically display the picture on Camera 1
Care & Maintenance
If your vehicle has been parked in direct sunlight resulting in a
considerable rise in temperature inside the vehicle, allow the unit to
cool before operating
Clean the unit with a slightly damp soft cloth.Use a mild household
detergent. Never use strong solvents such as a thinner or benzine as
they might damage the finish of the unit.
