Thank you for purchasing the s-5 Satellite compact carsafe from
Autosafe International. This guide to installation is designed to
take you through the first key steps ensuring you get the most
from the product and maximise the user and security features.
1) Where to position the s-5 in the vehicle
The first thing to consider is where in your vehicle you would like
the s-5 to live, whilst there are many available places we
recommend three positions:
a. Front passenger foot well
b. Rear passenger foot well
c. Boot (trunk)
When fitting the Autosafe in either the front or rear passenger
footwells, make sure the retaining cable (if fitted around any part
of the lower seat frame), does not impair the functionality of
the seats movement.
3) Three movement prevention options -
(anti slip protection)
Anti slip protection options have been provided with the s-5 these
are as follows:
Option 1 velcro disks
Recommended for standard vehicle carpet.
Two adhesive backed Velcro discs are provided, these can be
stuck to the underside/bottom of the plastic ends of the s-5.
The Velcro is designed to grip the carpet and
prevent movement.
Option 2 rubber discs
Can be used on standard and velour carpet, rubber or wood
surfaces.
Four adhesive backed rubber discs are provided. These can be
stuck to the underside/bottom of the plastic ends of the s-5, one
on each corner. The rubber is designed to provide a resistance
against the surface i.e. carpet, rubber or wood and prevent
movement.
Option 3 carpet clip
Recommended on all installations in the passenger foot well;
Designed to work with both standard and velour carpet.
The s-5 has two pre-drilled locators inside the unit, on the base.
These elliptical holes are designed for the carpet clip to be
inserted and provide a suitable fixing to protect against
movement and slip. A single carpet clip is provided for this
function.
Screw the carpet clip into the carpet or floor mat in to a position
of your choice.
Note - to determine where this position should be,
first position the s-5 where it is to be used most often, then from
the inside of the s-5 mark the location on the carpet through one
of the elliptical holes (suggest using chalk as a marker).
Now remove the s-5 and screw the carpet clip in the carpet,
pressing firmly until finger tight. Once this carpet clip is installed,
position the s-5 down on to the clip so that the end of the clip is
protruding inside the s-5 through the elliptical hole. Simply turn the
top of the clip to position the s-5 down.
Note - by using movement prevention option 3 only, the s-5
satellite can be rotated 90 degrees thus enabling the product to
be manoeuvred/swung freely and possibly under the passenger
seat and removed from view.
Security Note: The carpet clip does not replace the security
cable. The clip is designed to prevent movement and slip. Whilst
the clip will aid the security system it does not provide adequate
security alone and must be used in conjunction with the security
cable and suitable chassis fixing point (Please read instruction
section “Choosing Which Security Cable to use” above).

2) Fitting the cable
The security cable is an integral part of the security
system within the s-5 you now need to identify a suitable
fixing for the security cable to loop around. Fixings within
vehicles can vary, typical recommended fixings include:
Front or rear passenger foot well = Passenger seat base
or posts. Boot (Truck) = Rear seat hinge or chassis
mounted luggage loop.
Inside your s-5 you will find a security cable, 80cm long.
