finger
pads,
and rubber boots are
easily
removed
and
present
a choking

is a lraining
device
that attaches
to the neck
of a
guitar
to help
you
overcome
the frustrations
of learning
to
play'
By eliminating the initial
demands
learning
chórd
forms, the
ChordBuddy
allows
you
t,c focus on
the basics
of rhythm
and
strumming.
So,
within
a few m¡nutes of clamp¡ng
it
to
your
guitar,
you
can begin
to experience

joy
of making

tab
removal
system, the

Read this
section
to
learn how to
properly
install ChordBuddy
2.1
lnspection
Before
installing
ChordBuddy,
you
should
inspect
your
ChordBuddy
to ¡nsure
none
of its component
parts
became
dislodged
during shipping.
.
Ensure
tabs
are
properly
seated
in
the ChordBuddy
base.
Each
tab should
be fully
inserted
into
the
base
-
tab stops against
the base and
rounded
portion
öf eacn
taO exlending
past
backside
of base.
Additionally,
ensure
tabs are
perpendicular
to
the base and
individual tabs do
not touch
each
other.

Ensure
rubber
boots are
properly
seated
on the feet
of each tab.
ChordBuddys
are shipped
with rubber
boots
installed for a
"standard"
string
height
guitar.
Your
guitar
may
require a
different configuration
(see
section 3.0).

To install
the
ChordBuddy
on
your
guitar:
.
Set
the fixed
side bracket
on
the
guitar
neck at
approximately
a
30 degree
angle,
at the
first fret
just
behind
the nut, and
the
inside ridge
resting
on the
edge of the
fingerboard
between
the
nut and the
first
fret'
.
Rotate
the Chord-Buddy
Oow-n towards
the fingerboard,
until the
clamping
side bracket
slips
over
the side
of the
guitar
neck
and the inside
ridge
is resting
on the
edge of
the fingerboard.

Ensure
the inside
ridgesäf
both
the-fixed
and clamping
side brackets
are up
against the
nut
(slide
forward
or
backwards, as necessary)
and
flat against
the
fingerboard
(rotate
up or
down as
necessary).

that all

firmly
seated
into

to ensure
that none of
the tab feet are
touching
the strings
when
the tabs are

properly

Trouble
Shooting
Read this
section
to
learn how to
elim¡nate
string-buzzing
noises.
lmportant:
ChordBuddy
is designed
to teach
the
formation and
strumming
of
chords.
As such,
playi
produce
as
clear of
a tone
as could
be achieved
by individually
fingering
the
string
at the
desired
fret.
ng individual

When
playing
chords,
ensure
you
press
straight
down
on
center of
appropriate
tab
finger.pad.
Depressing
finger
pads
at an
angle
and/or
off-centeicañ
cause
unequal
d¡stribution
of
pressure
on strings,
result¡ng
in string
buzzing/deadening.
Stringbuzzinganddeadsoundingstringscanoccurif(1)thereisunintendedcontactw¡thastring,or(2)astringisnotproperlyfretted.
lfyouencounter
string
buzz
or dead
sounding
string(s),
perform
the
following
steps:
First, slowly
strum
all six
strings,
without depressing
any finger
pads
on the
ChordBuddy
tabs
(unfretted)
to
isolate the
affected
string(s). A
buzzing or
dead sounáing
unfretted
strin! is usually a
iesult
oieither
(t)
an
improperly
positioned
ChordBuddy,
(2)
an
improperly
seated
rubber boot,
or
(3)
the
inside
ridges of the
side brackets
are contacting
the first and/or
sixth strings.

Ensure the inside
ridges
of both
the fixed
and clamping
side brackets
are up
against the nut and flat

Ensure that ihe ChordBuddy
is sitting
at a 30 degree
angle

the fret board.

Buddy is not
properly positioned,
loosen
thumbscrew
and adjust as
necessary.
Re-tighten
thumbscrew.

seated
rubbei
boot
-
While
the ChordBuddy
is
installed on
the
guitar,
inspect
the tab
feet above the
affected string to
enåure
tfre rubber boots
are
not
touching
the
string.
lf a rubber
boot is touching
the
string,
first ensure
the
boot
is
properly
seated.
lf
the
rubber boot
is
properly
seated and
still touching the
strlng,
you
may
have to
remove the
boot
all together.
.
lnside
ridges
are cohtacting
the first and/oi
sixth
strings
-
lf this occurs,
then
remove
the
ChordBuddy
from
the
guitar
and install an
additional
rubber
pad
on the
inside of both
the fixed-side
and clamping-side
brackets.
lf
you
encounter
a
buzz¡ng or
dead sounding
str¡ng only
when strumming
a fretted string
(you
depress
one of
the ChordBuddy
tabs),
one or more of the
ta6
feet of that
tab are
nót
properly
fretting the string.
this
problem
can
occur
if
(1)
the tab
is
not being
fully depressed,
(2)
the
finger button
is
not
properly
pressed, (3)
the tab
is not
þroperly
positioned,
or
(4)
a rubber þoot
is
not
properly
seated
or
is not
the
proper
size,

The tab
is not being
fully depressed
-
Forming
a chord
with a ChordBuddy
requires
you
to
provide
suffìcient
downward
pressure
on the
finger
button of the
tãb to-ensúre
the tab
feet fret the
strings at
the
proper
frets.
Too little
pressure
will
result in
a string not being
properly
fretted
and will buzz
when strummed.
Too much
pressure
will cause
your
fingers to
quickly
tire,
reduce the
life of the
rubber boots, and may
damage
the
ChordBuddy
tab. Experiment
with how
much
pressure
is
required to
produce
a
"olean"
sounding
chord.

The
finger button
is nót
properiy
pressed
-
When
playing
chords,
ensure
you
press
straight
d-own
on center
of appropriate tab
finger
pad.
Depress-ing
finger
pads
'at
an añgle
and/or
off-center
can
cause unequal
distribution
of
pressure
on
strings, resulting in string
buzzing/deaden
ing.

The tab
is not

tabs
were designed
with a
slight amount
of
lateral
play
to allow
for minor adjustability
in setting up tnä
Chorci
Buddy on
your guitar.
Check
to ensure
that all of
the tabs are
firmly inserted
into the
base. As such,
examine the
placement
of the tab
feet over the
strings to
ensure lhey
are
making appropriate
contact
with the
string
when the tab
is depressed.
