What are WaterWipes made from?
WaterWipes are made from 99.9% water and a drop of fruit extract (contains trace of
benzalkonium chloride).
Our wipe material is a blend of 80% polyester and 20% viscose, which makes 20% of our wipe
biodegradable. We are currently working on making our wipes 100% biodegradable - and have a
commitment to do this by the end of 2020.
Why should I use WaterWipes on my new born baby’s skin?
When a baby is born, its skin is much thinner than an adult’s. Because of this, Midwife, Margaret

Are WaterWipes biodegradable?
At WaterWipes we pride ourselves on making the world’s purest baby wipe for newborn and
sensitive skin. We fully understand that we also have responsibility to help protect the planet
your little one will inherit. We made a commitment to having a 100% biodegradable solution
without compromising on the purity of our product in 2020 and we are really, really close.
The terms flushable and biodegradable are often used interchangeably, but they are very
different. No wipes, including biodegradable wipes, should be flushed. Often, even flushable
wipes take time to break down in our sewer systems. Disposing of wipes with the household
rubbish is the best way to help protect our environment.
My WaterWipes feel slightly dry, what can I do about this?
Because WaterWipes don’t use chemicals to "bind" the liquid to the wipes, the water can
sometimes migrate to the bottom of the pack. To remedy this, with the sticker properly resealed,
turn your pack of WaterWipes upside down and then gently squeeze and massage the pack for a
few seconds. This will quickly redistribute the water more evenly throughout the pack, and get
the wipes back to the same consistent wetness that they had when they were made in our
cleanroom process.
If you are storing your wipes for some time, we recommend you the packs label-side down
before use.
Are WaterWipes flushable?
No. We recommend you do not flush WaterWipes.
My Midwife recommends cotton wool and water for the first few weeks. Can I use WaterWipes
instead?
Yes. When a baby is born, its skin is much thinner than an adult’s and therefore more delicate.
Because of this, Midwife Margaret Merrigan Feenan recommends you use cotton wool and water
OR WaterWipes.
How do WaterWipes clean?
WaterWipes contain water and a drop of fruit extract. Water is nature’s natural cleanser and
moisturiser which is why Midwife Margaret Merrigan Feenan recommends cotton wool and
water OR WaterWipes. Fruit extract also helps to maintain good skin condition.
Do WaterWipes have an expiry date?
Like all wipes, WaterWipes have an expiry date. We recommend opening within fifteen months
of the production date and using the pack within one month of opening. The production date and
expiry date is printed on the back of the pack.
My baby has diaper rash can I still use WaterWipes?
Yes. WaterWipes do not contain ingredients that could further irritate your baby’s delicate skin.
WaterWipes are not a cure for diaper rash but importantly they don’t contain the ingredients
that can cause or exacerbate diaper rash.
Can I use WaterWipes on my baby’s face?
Yes. WaterWipes contain 99.9% water and a drop of fruit extract. Many people used
WaterWipes between bathing times as they are more gentle on a baby’s skin.
Can I put WaterWipes in a wipe warmer/wipe dispenser?
No. We do not recommend that WaterWipes are removed from their pack and transferred to any
another container, nor should the pack be over-warmed. WaterWipes do not contain any
chemicals or preservatives like other wipes. They are a fresh natural product and should be
stored in a cool dry place. We recommend WaterWipes are used within 4 weeks of opening.
