III. IMPORTANT INFORMATION
The default password (PIN) for the SE847 Secure is 112233. It is strongly recommended
that you change this PIN immediately upon first use [see “V. How to Change the
Password (PIN)”].
After ten consecutive, unsuccessful attempts to unlock the device, all stored data will be
erased and the PIN will be reset to 112233, effectively returning the device to a factory
new state. It is critical that you remember your PIN – if lost or forgotten, there is no
way to retrieve your data.
Encryption is done automatically and in real time when storing files to the device. When
the drive is unplugged from a system, it automatically locks itself and the PIN is required
to access again.
The SE847 Secure supports Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux operating systems.
A rechargeable battery allows the keypad of the SE847 Secure to operate without
another power source. The battery charges while plugged into a computer’s USB port
while the computer is on. In the event that the battery is discharged, you may still
unlock the device by inserting it into a computer first and then entering the PIN (see
“VII. Unlocking the SE847 Secure Without Battery”).
IV. How to Unlock the SE847 Secure
1. Press the unlock key. The red indicator will flash once, then the red and green
indicators will flash simultaneously.
2. Using the keypad, enter the PIN. If this is the first time using the SE847 Secure, the PIN
will be 112233 (it is strongly recommended that this PIN is changed immediately to a
unique PIN after unlocking).
3. Press the unlock key. The green indicator will begin flashing – the drive is now unlocked
(if the red indicator flashes, you have entered the PIN incorrectly). You have 30 seconds
