PROPER USE
The device is used to charge the following battery types:
Lead-acid batteries with liquid electrolyte•
Lead-acid batteries with calcium board•
SLA (Sealed Lead Acid) batteries, factory-charged and fully sealed•
GEL batteries with gelatinous electrolyte•
AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) batteries, in which the electrolyte is bonded to a glass mat•
Thedevicecanalsobeusedasapowersource.ThesettingsspeciedintheDirectionsfor
Use must always be respected in order to prevent device damage. The device is intended
solely for indoor use and must be protected from wet and moisture. The device as a whole
mustnotbemodiedorconverted.ThesafetyprecautionsintheseDirectionsforUsemustbe
strictlyobserved.ReadthroughtheDirectionsforUsecarefullyandkeepthemsafeforfuture

The symbol with the lightning strike inside the triangle indicates a health
hazard, e.g. from electric shock.
The symbol with the exclamation mark inside the triangle indicates par-
ticular hazards during handling, operation or control.
This symbol denotes information provided to improve understanding of the procedures. Î
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Before using the device for the rst time, read through the Directions for
Use. They contain information that is important to correct operation. Dam-
age caused by failing to observe these Directions for Use will invalidate
the warranty/guarantee! We accept no liability for consequential damage!
Neither do we accept liability for property damage or physical injury
caused by improper handling or failing to observe the safety precautions.
Such cases invalidate the warranty/guarantee.
General safety precautions
For reasons of safety and approval (CE), unauthorised conversions and/or •
modicationstothedevicearenotpermitted.
The device may only be operated at a mains voltage of 230V~/50Hz. •
The device is designed to Safety Class I.•
Thedeviceisnotatoy.Itmustbekeptoutofchildren'sreach.Exercise•
extreme caution in the presence of children! Children are capable of inserting
objects through the housing openings and into the device. This destroys the
deviceandputslifeatriskfromelectricshock!
The device must be installed, operated and stored out of the reach of children.
Children are able to alter settings or short-circuit the battery and this can
cause an explosion. Mortal danger!
The device is suitable exclusively for charging lead-acid batteries, lead-acid •
batteries with calcium board, SLA batteries, GEL batteries or AGM batter-
ies. Never try to charge other rechargeable (e.g. NiCd, NiMH, LiPo) or even
ordinarybatteries!Thisposesariskofreandexplosion!
Maintenance,settingandrepairactivitiesarereservedforqualiedpersons/•
authorisedworkshops.Thedeviceaccommodatesnocomponentsthatcanbe
adjusted or maintained by yourself.
Inschools,trainingfacilities,DIYandself-helpworkshops,operationofthe•
device must be responsibly supervised by trained personnel.
Donotleavethepackagingmateriallyingaround.Thiscouldbecomea•
dangerous toy for children!
Handlethedevicewithcare.Itcanbedamagedbyknocksandblowsorbeing•
dropped, even from a low height.
Ifyounoticeanydamage,donotcontinuetousethecharger.Takeittoan
approvedworkshopordisposeofitinanenvironmentallycompatiblemanner.
Operation
The device may only be operated in dry, indoor rooms. It must not become •
damporwet,otherwisethereisariskofpotentiallyfatalelectricshock!
Neveroperatethedevicewithwethands.Thisposestheriskofapotentially•
fatalelectricshock!
Thedevicemayonlybeconnectedtoamainssocketwithsafetycontact.•
Donotliftthedevicebythemainsleadanduseitonlyforitsintended•
purpose.
If the mains lead becomes damaged, remove the plug immediately. Never use •
the device with a damaged mains lead.
Donotpullonthemainsleadtoremoveitfromthedeviceorfromthesocket.•
Avoid direct sunlight, intense heat and cold temperatures (for operating •
temperature,refertotheTechnicalSpecication).Keepthedeviceawayfrom
dust and dirt. The same applies for the attached battery.
Chooseanadequatelylarge,stableandatlocationforthedeviceandbat-•
tery.Neverplacethedeviceandbatteryonammablesurfaces(e.g.carpet).
Alwaysuseasuitablere-proofandheat-proofbase.
Neveroperatethedeviceinsideavehicle.Likewise,thedevicemustnotbe•
operatednearammablematerialsorgases.
Neveroperatethedeviceunattended.Despitetheextensiveanddiverse•
range of safety circuits, it is not possible to rule out all malfunctions or prob-
lems during the charging operation.
Operate the device only in a moderate climate, never in a tropical climate.•
Ensureadequateventilationduringoperation.Thedeviceisttedwithacool-•
ing fan for heat control. This fan switches on and off automatically in order to
regulate the internal temperature of the device. Never cover the device or the
attached battery. Never charge the battery in containers or in poorly ventilated
rooms.Explosivegasescandevelopduringthechargingoperation!Keep
thedeviceandbatteryawayfromignitionsourcesandnakedames.Donot
smokewhilehandlingthedeviceorbattery!Thereisariskofexplosion!
Place the device as far away from the battery as possible (as far as the •
chargercableonthedevicewillallow).Donotplacethedeviceonornearthe
battery!
Never use the device if it has been moved from a cold to a warm room. This •
temperature difference causes condensation which can not only lead to mal-
function,butalsoposestheriskofapotentiallyfatalelectricshock!
Wait until the device (and the battery) have reached room temperature before
connectingtothemainsvoltageandswitchingon.Thiscantakeseveral
hours!
AlwaysmakesuretheDIPswitchesaresetcorrectlyforthemodeinwhich•
you are operating the device and for the battery type to be charged. Failure to
dosoposesariskofreandexplosion!
Battery information
Observe all the safety precautions and charging instructions issued by the bat-•
terymanufacturer.Ifthebatteryisrellable,observetherelevantinformation
issued by the battery manufacturer.
Batteriescontainaggressive,corrosiveacids.Preventuidscontainedinthe•
batterycomingintocontactwiththeskinandeyes!Neverdismantlebatteries!
Wash the affected areas with plenty of soap and water. If acid has come into
contactwithyoureyes,ushimmediatelyunderowing,clearandcoldwater!
Thenseekmedicalattentionwithoutdelay!
If acid has come into contact with your clothing, wash out immediately with
plenty of soap and water!
For safety reasons, suitable protective clothing and safety goggles must be •
worn when handling batteries.
Neverwearrings,necklaces,watchesorotherjewellerywhenhandlingbat-•
teriesorchargers.Ashortcircuitorcontactwiththebatterycanposeariskof
burning and explosion!
Batteries must not be short-circuited or disposed of by burning. This poses a •
riskofreandexplosion!
Dependingonwherethebatteryisinstalled,itmaybenecessarytoremove•
the battery before it can be charged.
Ensure correct polarity when connecting a battery to the device (red terminal •
onthedevice=plus/+,blackterminalonthedevice=minus/-).
Never charge batteries with a cell short circuit. •
Neverchargefrozenbatteries.Ifthebatteryuid(electrolyte)isfrozen,allow•
the battery to thaw out completely in a warm room before charging. This can
takeseveralhours,dependingonthebattery.
