3. ALWAYS keep bystanders, children and visitors away while operating a power tool.
Distra_ons can cause you to lose control.
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
I. Double insulated toolsare equipped with a polarized plug (one blade iswider than
the other.) This plug will fit in a poladzed outlet onlyone way. Ifthe plug does not fit
fully in the outlet, reveres the plug. If itstilldoes not fit, contact a qualified electdolan
to install a polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
2. Double insulation[] eliminates the need for the three-wire grounded powercord and
grounded power supply system. Applicable onlyto Class II (double insulated) tools.
3. Before plugging in the tool, BE SURE that the outlet voltage supplied is withinthe
voltage marked on the tool's data plate. DO NOT usa "AC only" rated toolswith a DC
power supply.
4. ALWAYS avoid body contact with grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges
and refrigerators,There is an increased dsk of electdc shock ifyour bodyis grounded.
5. Ifoperating the power tool in damp locationsis unavoidable, ALWAYS use a Ground
FaultCircuit Interrupter to supply power toyour tool. ALWAYS wear electrician's rubber
gloves and footwear in damp conditions.
6. DO NOT expose power tools to rainor wet conditions.Water entedng a powertool will
increase the dsk of electric shock.
7. DO NOT abuse the cord. NEVER use the cord to carry the tools or pullthe plug from
the outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts, Replace
damaged cords immediately. Damaged cords increase the dsk ofelectdc shock.
8. When operating a power tool outside,ALWAYS use an outdoor extension cord marked
"W-A"or "W". These cordsare rated for outdooruseand reducethe risk ofelectricshock.
NOTE: The extension cord must have adequate wire size AWG (American Wire Gauge)

GENERAL CUTTING TIPS
1. Place the best sideof the material face down and secure itin a benchvise or clamp it
down.
2. Draw your cuttinglinesor designson the side facing you.
3. Place frontedge of saw foot on the material tobe cutand line up the bladewithyour
cutting line.
4. Hold saw firmly and turn iton.
5. Press down (to keepsaw foot flat againstthe workpiece) as you slowlypushthe saw in
the directionof the cut.
6. Gradually buildup the bladespeed, cuttingas close to the lineas possible(unlessyou
want to leave enough room forfinishedsanding).
7. As you cut, you may need to reposition the vise or clamps to keepthe workpieoestable.
8. DO NOT force the saw because the blade teeth may rub and wear withoutcutting
which may result in breakingthe blade.
9. ALWAYS let the saw do mostof the work.
10. ALWAYS cutslowlywhen following curves, sothe b_adecan cut throughcrossgrain.
This will providean accurate cutand willpreventthe blade from wandering.
17
CUTTING METAL
When cutting metal ALWAYS clamp downthe metalworkpiece. Be extremely carefulto
move the saw very slowlyas you cut. Use slowerspeeds (Position1,2 or 3 on the Variable
Speed Dial). DO NOT twist, bendor force the blade. If the saw jumpsor bouncesas you cut,
change to a blade with finerteeth. Ifthe blade beginsto clogwhen cuttingsoftmetal, change
to a blade with coarser teeth.
For easier cutting, lubricatethe blade with a stickof cuttingwax (if available) or cuttingoil
when cutting steel. Thin metal should be sandwiched between two pieces of wood or
tightly clamped on a single piece of wood (wood on top of the metal). Draw the cut lines or
design on the top piece of wood.
When cutting aluminum extrusion or angle iron, clamp the work in a bench vise and saw
close to the vise jaws.
When sawing tubing with a diameter larger than the blade isdeep, cutthrough the wall of
the tubing and then insert the blade into the cut, rotating the tube as you saw.
1.When cutting metals, a suitable cooling / cutting oil must be used.
2. Spread the oil onto the blade or workpiece at regular intervals during cutting in order to
reduce wear or overheating the blade.
Z_ WARNING: To avoidaccidents, ALWAYS disconnect the tool from the power source
BEFORE making any adjustments or attaching accessories.
,/K WARNING: The use of attachments or accessories that are not recommended
might be dangerous.
I
CUTTING WITH A STRAIGHTEDGE (Fig. 15)
1.ALWAYS use a rough-cut blade whenever
possible.
2. Mark the line-of-cut,then positionthe
straightedgeparallel tocut lineand at the
same distanceas between the blade and
the side edge of the saw foot.
OR
3. Mark the side edge of the saw foot and then
clamp the straightedgeon the mark and
parallelto the cut.
4. As you cut, keepthe saw foot edge flush
againstthe straightedge and flat on the
