Tools Required:
Electric or battery operated drill
3
32 dia. drill bit
#2 Phillips screwdriver
Wire cutter
Locking C-clamp or spring clamp
Instructions
1. Remove the existing fusible link and allow the
damper blades to close. While doing this check that
the blades operate smoothly and go to their closed
position.
2. Insert the drill guide (Figure 1) between the spring
and the damper center bar. Using the notches at the
center of the drill guide, align the center of the drill
guide with the spring. Open the damper blades to
allow the drill guide to settle onto the damper center
bar.
Secure the blades in the open position. The blades
can be held open using a clamp or by reinstalling the
fusible link. (Figure 2) (Note; If the drill guide does not
fit over the damper center bar, the tabs on the guide
can be bent outward, equally on both sides, until it
fits over the center bar.)
3. Using the two small holes in the drill guide, drill two
3
32 diameter holes through the damper center bar.
(Figure 3) Release the damper blades and remove the
drill guide.
4. Using a wire cutter, cut off the fusible link wires near
the rivet head. They are no longer needed. (Figure 4)
5. Install the volume controller onto the damper center
bar using the (2) #10 screws provided. Tighten the
screws but be careful not to strip out the screw holes.
(Figure 5 & 6)
Note: Do not use longer screws since longer screws will
interfere with the operation of the blades.
