5. Fitting and Changing the Hose and Gas Cylinder
• Beforettingtheregulatortoagascontainer,ensurethatthesealontheregulatorisinpositionandingoodcondition.
Thisshouldbedoneoneveryconnection.
• Ensurethatthegascontaineristtedorchangedoutdoors,awayfromanysourceofignition,suchasnakedamesorelectricresand
awayfromotherpeople.
• Makingsurethatthegascontaineriskeptupright,screwtheregulatorontothegascontaineruntilitisfullyengaged.Donotovertighten.
• Ifthereisaleakonyourappliance(smellofgas),takeimmediatelyintoaame-freelocationwheretheleakmaybedetectedand
stopped.
Ifyouwishtocheckforleaksonyourappliance,doitoutsideusingsoapywateronly,whichisappliedtothejoints.Aformationof
bubbles
willindicateagasleak.
• Checkthatalltheconnectionsaresecurelyttedandre-checkwithsoapywater.Ifyoucannotrectifythegasleak,donotusethe
appliance.ContactyourlocalCADACstockistforassistance.
• WhenchangingagascontainerclosethecylindervalveandthentheapplianceValve(seeFigs.1and2).Makingsuretheameis
extinguished,unscrewtheregulator.Re-tafullgascontainerfollowingthesameprecautionsasdescribedabove.
6. Using the Appliance
• Thisappliancemustbeusedoutdoorsonly!
• Wheninuse,protectfromwindforoptimumperformance.
• Donotmovetheunitwhilsthot.Theuseofprotectiveglovesis
recommended.
• CAUTION:Accessiblepartsmaybecomeveryhot.Keepyoung

• Topackaway,lettheunitcool.Aftercleaning,

Placethepot/domeatthebottomofthebag.
Next,placethepotstandupsidedownintothepot.
PlacetheFatPanoverthePotandPotStandupsidedown.Then
placetheapplianceupsidedownoverthefatpan.PlacetheGrid
andFlatPanintotheirseparateholderslocatedinthelidofthebag,
andzipthemclosed.

• KeeptheapplianceinitsCarryBagwhennotinuse,asthiswill
preventtheingressofdirtorinsectswhichmayaffectthegasow.
• Whenattemptingtolighttheappliance,makesurethatthegas
supplyfromthecylinderisopenpriortoturningonthegassupplyto
theappliance.

Usingthecontrolknob
Thecontrolknobisttedwithtwopositivestoppositions,oneat
low,andoneatIgnite/High.Thislimitstheadjustmentofthe
ametobetweenthesetwopoints.
LightingupusingthePiezoIgniter
• Tolightuptheapplianceusingthepiezoigniter,pushinandturnthecontrolknobinananti-clockwisedirectionuntilyouheara
click.Ifthegasdoesnotigniteontherstspark,pushin,andturnthecontrolknobfullyclockwise.Tryagain,bypushinginand
turningthecontrolknobanti-clockwiseuntilyouhearaclick.

• Thereareveavailablecookingoptions(the5thisanoptionalaccessory)withyourSafariChef2appliance.Theseare:
Barbecuing:Thiscookingoptionisidealforfat-freebarbecuingofchicken,sausages,chops,kebabs,shorvegetables.
Forthistypeofcooking,placetheFatPanontotheheatshield.PlacetheBBQGridontothelocatorsoftheFatPan.

Ifthegashasnotignitedinthersttwotothreesecondsyoushouldclosethecontrolvalvebypushinginthecontrolknob,and
turningitfullyclockwise.Waitapproximatelythirtysecondstoletanyaccumulatedgaswithintheburnerpanassemblyescape.
Repeattheaboveprocessifnecessaryuntiltheameignites.Theameshouldnormallylightupwithintherstoneortwoseconds.
LightingupusingaBBQlighter
• Whenstartingcold,theappliancemaybelitfromthetoppriortottingthedesiredcookingsurfaceontothefatpan.Whenlightingup
ahotappliancehowever,itisrecommendedthatthisbedonebystickingbarbecuelighterthroughoneoftheVentHolesunderneath
theBurner,untilitisinlinewiththeburner(DONOTplacetheBBQlighterthroughthelargeholedirectlyunderneaththeburner).
IgnitetheBBQlighter.WhilsttheBBQlighterislit,pushinandturnthecontrolknobanti-clockwisetolighttheburner.
• Usethecontrolknobtoadjusttheameintensitytothedesiredlevelbyturningtheknobclockwisetodecreasetheameandanti-
clockwisetoincreasetheame.
• Whennotinusedisconnecttheappliancefromthegassupply.
• WARNING:Donotuseanycookingsurfacesonahighamesettingformorethan10minutesasthiscandamagethenon-stick
