Install guard to transmission brackets

Muffler Guard

1. Remove (2) existing muffler mounting screws at

front of engine and bolt that matches rear tab

(Fig. 1).

Note: Save hardware for use when installing

muffler guard.

2. Place muffler guard over muffler and secure with

previously removed muffler hardware (Fig. 1).

Installation

Install Rear Guard

1. Remove existing transmission indicator

mounting hardware (Fig. 2).

Note: Save hardware for use when installing

rear guard.

2. Place rear guard between transmission indicator

and transmission mounting brackets, and along

lower edges of traction unit.

3. Secure with previously removed transmission

indicator mounting hardware and (2) 3/8–16 x

3/4” (19 mm) bolts and (2) 3/8-16 locknuts

supplied (Fig. 2).

4. Align transmission indicator to shift lever. Refer

to mower Operator’s Manual for procedure.

5. Place PTO rod through rear guard and connect to

bellcrank with hairpin cotter (Fig. 2).

Install Belt Guards

1. Remove bolts securing belt side plate (Fig. 3).

Note: Save hardware for use when installing

belt guards.

2. Place bolts through belt guard and slide spacer

over lower bolt (Fig. 3).

3. Align belt guard over traction drive belt and

slide front bolt through spacer inside traction

idler arm (Fig. 3).

4. Secure to frame with previously removed

locknut (Fig. 3).

5. Repeat mounting procedure for other side.
