7 Area of use
7
1 Area of use
The Ski watch AA5-SKI-3A/3B/3C/3D has a navigation
system. When using the satellite network, which surrounds the
earth, the position of the user can be determined. This is
possible at any time and anywhere in the world.
The Ski watch is Setup for use as a global position
determination system.
The Ski watch primarily serves for distance measurement,
speed measurement and height measurement, using the
US American satellite network, and is particularly suited
to sports such as skiing, running and cycling.
The Ski watch cannot be used for demanding applications
such as paragliding, parachute jumping or gliding.
The Ski watch is conceived for private purposes and is not
suitable for commercial purposes.
The Ski watch can also be used as a training aid to measure
and display your heart rate. The Ski watch is not a medical
device.
Usage other than the one described in this instruction manual,
is not permitted and can lead to damages and injuries. No
liability will be accepted for damages that arise from improper
use. You can find further information and explanations in the
instruction manual.
All details stated are only nominal values. Subject to technical
changes.

2 Safety
2.1 Safety information
Please read this chapter carefully and follow all of the
instructions stated. This will guarantee reliable operation and
longevity of your Ski watch.
Hazards for children and individuals needing
assistance
This Ski watch is not intended for use by children or
individuals with limited physical, sensory or
emotional capacities or limited experience and / or
knowledge unless they are supervised by an
individual responsible for their safety or receive
instructions from the latter as to how the Ski watch
should be used and have understood the dangers
arising from it. Children should be supervised in
order to ensure that they do not play with the Ski
watch. Cleaning and user maintenance may not be
performed by children without supervision. For
more information, please visit:
www.produktservice.info
Please keep the packaging and the instruction manual in a safe
place, in order to be able to pass them on to the new owner, if
you sell the Ski watch.
9 Safety
9
Do not operate the Ski watch while driving a vehicle, for
safety reasons. Stop, or let a passenger carry out the
settings. It is dangerous to take your eyes off the road and
can lead to an accident, in which you or others could be
injured.
Never open the casing of the Ski watch or the chest strap,
they do not contain any parts to be maintained (this
excludes opening the battery compartment of the chest
strap, to change the battery, see point 10. "Battery change
chest strap").
Do not place any objects on the Ski watch and do not
exert any pressure on the display; the display may break.
Do not touch the display with sharp objects.
Like most GPS products, the use of this product depends
on satellites, which are operated by the US American
government. If there are changes in the satellite network,
this can influence the performance and precision of this
Ski watch.
Important: Always consult with your doctor, before you start
a regular training programme. The Ski watch is not a medical
device, it is a training aid to measure and display your heart
rate. Wearers of pacemakers may only use devices for heart
rate measurement on agreement with your doctor.
Information: The chest strap can contain latex components.
In rare cases, allergic reactions to this material and in some
circumstances relatively serious skin irritations and redness,
10 Safety
10
can occur. Therefore, even if you only notice slight redness,
please stop using the chest strap immediately. In this case we
would recommend that you visit a dermatologist.
2.2 Electromagnetic compatibility
Very strong magnetic fields (e.g. transformers) must be
avoided otherwise variations in the time measurement and
position determination can occur. The non-adherence to these
instructions can lead to disturbances or damage to your Ski
watch.
2.3 Battery operation
Your Ski watch is operated with a lithium polymer battery,
which can not be replaced. The chest strap is operated with a
3 V battery type CR2032.
2.4 Rechargeable batteries
Below you will find some information about handling
rechargeable batteries:
The rechargeable battery of the Ski watch can not be
replaced and must not be removed.
Keep the Ski watch away from heat sources or
environments with high temperatures, e.g. direct sunlight
in a vehicle.
Do not drill through or burn the Ski watch.
Only charge the rechargeable battery of the Ski watch via
the USB cable provided. If the rechargeable battery is
11 Safety
11
charged in another way, it can lead to overheating,
explosion or fire.
Do not charge the rechargeable battery of the Ski watch
near heat sources or in the car in the case of strong
sunlight. The high temperature will lead to the battery
being damaged and can lead to overheating, explosion and
fire.
Non-adherence to these instructions can lead to the shortening
of the operational life of the built-in rechargeable battery or
damages to the Ski watch.
2.5 Batteries
Below, you will find some information about dealing with
batteries:
Warning! Danger of explosion if the battery is replaced
incorrectly. Only replace with the same or equivalent
battery type.
Batteries may not be charged or reactivated by other
means, taken apart, thrown into fire or short circuited.
Always keep batteries out of the reach of children.
Batteries can be life threatening if swallowed. Therefore,
keep the batteries and chest strap out of the reach of small
children. If a battery is swallowed, medical assistance
should be obtained immediately.
Never expose the batteries to excessive heat such as
sunshine, fire or similar! There is an increased risk of
leakage. Non-adherence to these instructions can lead to
12 Safety
12
damage and sometimes even explosion of the batteries
and thereby to fire.
Remove the battery from the chest strap when not being
used for long periods of time.
Remove a drained battery from the chest strap promptly,
otherwise it can leak. In this case avoid contact with skin,
eyes and mucous membranes. Rinse any areas affected by
battery acid immediately with plenty of clear water and
seek medical assistance immediately. If necessary, clean
the battery contacts and also the counter contacts in the
device. Keep the instruction manual for reference about
battery details. The non-adherence with these instructions
can lead to damage to the chest strap and in some cases,
lead to the battery exploding.
WARNING: To prevent battery leakage
Be sure to insert batteries correctly and always follow battery
manufacturer’s instruction. Never mix old and new batteries
(replace all batteries at the same time). Never mix Alkaline,
standard or re-chargeable batteries. Use only batteries of the
same or equivalent types as recommended. Do not recharge
non-rechargeable batteries. Always remove exhausted or dead
batteries from the product, do not dispose of batteries in fire,
battery may explode or leak. Do not short circuit the supply
terminals. Remove batteries from product before extended
storage.

Do not press the any buttons when the watch is wet. Water can
get into the casing via the buttons and damage the watch
mechanism. Salt and thermal water can lead to corrosion of
metal parts.
Please note that in the case of extreme differences in
temperature (e.g. from the sauna to the pool, from sunbathing
to the sea), waterproofing can no longer be guaranteed. Due
to the temperature differences, condensation can form and
therefore the watch mechanism can be damaged.
3.3 Shocks and vibrations
The Ski watch is protected against impacts that can occur
during normal wear on the arm.
16 Maintenance
16
3.4 Environmental temperature
The Ski watch can sustainably be used at an environmental
temperature from -10 °C to +60 °C and stored at an
environmental temperature from -20 °C to +70 °C. Avoid high
temperatures (in a parked vehicle or through direct sunlight)
and permanently humid environments.
Information:
Disturbances to the display in the temperature area from
-10 °C to 0 °C are not to be attributed to the watch, but rather
the impairment of the battery in the cold.
The electrochemical processes in batteries and accumulators
are strongly influenced by the environmental temperature. The
more the temperature falls, the more severely the processes are
impaired during discharging. Therefore, please note that at
temperatures below -10 °C, the battery and/or accumulator can
"freeze", which results in the life span of the battery and/or
accumulator being impaired.
3.5 Disposal
Batteries are special waste. Appropriate containers are
provided in shops that sell batteries and communal collection
points, for proper battery disposal.
Old electrical appliances may not be disposed of in the
household waste.
17 Maintenance
17
When you want to dispose of your Ski watch and its
accessories please dispose of it responsibly. Information on
waste collection is available from your local council.
Please dispose of the packaging responsibly.
3.6 Cleaning and care
If there are problems with charging the Ski watch or data
download, please check the contact pins on the reverse
side of the watch. If these are contaminated with sweat
deposits, skin cells or dust, please use the cleaning brush
provided.
Squeeze a few drops of clean water onto the contact pins
of the watch and then clean it with the cleaning brush. See
figs. below:
Only clean the Ski watch and chest strap with a soft,
damp, lint free cloth.
Do not use any solvents, corrosive or gaseous cleaning
agents.
Ensure that no water droplets remain on the display of the
Ski watch. Water can cause permanent discolorations.
18 Maintenance
18
Do not expose the display to bright sunlight or ultraviolet
light.
