from outside the building.
From outside the building, call your gas supplier and licensed
contractor.
Danger if you smell flue gas
Switch off the boiler ( page 32).
Open windows and doors.
Notify an approved contractor.
Danger of poisoning. Insufficient ventilation can lead to dangerous
flue gas leaks.
Never block ventilation and extract air apertures or reduce their size.
The boiler must not be operated, unless you immediately remedy the
fault.
Inform the system user in writing of the problem and associated
danger.
Danger of escaping gases
Ensure that the flue pipes and gaskets are not damaged.

3.3 Duty to obtain a permit and provide notification
The local gas supplier must be notified of and approve the gas boiler
installation.
Please note that regional approvals may be required for the flue
system and the connection of the condensate outlet to the public
sewerage system.
Prior to commencing installation, inform the local flue gas inspector
(where appropriate) and water authority.
3.4 Installation location
3.5 Quality of the heating water
As pure water cannot be used for heat transfer, water quality is
important. Poor water quality can damage heating systems due to scale
formation and corrosion.
3.6 Pipework quality
When using plastic pipes in the heating system, for example in
underfloor heating systems, ensure these are impermeable to oxygen. If
the plastic pipes do not comply with these standards, they must be
separated from the rest of the system using a heat exchanger.
3.7 Frost protection
During installation and operation of the heating system,
observe all country-specific standards and guidelines.
Also observe the details on the boiler data plate.
NOTICE: Risk of damage to the system from frost!
Site the heating system in a room safe from the risk of
frost.
DANGER: Risk of fire from flammable materials or
liquids!
Never store flammable materials or liquids in the
immediate vicinity of the boiler.
NOTICE: Boiler damage through contaminated
combustion air or contaminated air in the vicinity of the
boiler!
Never operate the boiler under dusty conditions or
where the atmosphere is contaminated with
corrosive substances. These might be, for example,
paint shops, hairdressing salons and agricultural
operations (manure).
Never operate boilers where trichloroethene,
halogenated hydrocarbons or other corrosive
chemical substances are used or where such
material is stored. These substances are contained,
for example, in certain adhesives, solvents, cleaning
agents and paints. In such cases, always select
balanced flue operation in a separate, hermetically
sealed installation room that has a fresh air supply.
Water quality is an essential factor for increased
efficiency, functional reliability, long service life and for
maintaining the constant operational condition of a
heating system.
Observe the water quality requirements contained in
the "Water Quality Operator's Log".
Warranty claims for the boilers will only be
considered provided the water quality requirements
have been met and the operator’s log has been
maintained.
NOTICE: Boiler damage through corrosion!
Never operate this boiler as a gravity-fed or as open
vented heating system.
NOTICE: System damage through frost!
If there is the risk that pipework may freeze up when
operating in room temperature-dependent mode
(e.g. radiator in a garage), set the pump overrun time
to 24 hours.

times.
The dimensions of the supply air duct must be calculated in accord-
ance with the current regulations.
The boiler is to be operated at a flue system.
Observe country-specific and local regulations.
Observe attached documentation "Information on flue gas routing".
3.9 Combustion air quality
Keep the supply of combustion air free of corrosive substances (e.g.
halogenated hydrocarbons that contain chlorine or fluorine
compounds).
This will help to prevent corrosion.
3.10 Validity of regulations
Modified regulations or supplements are also valid at the time of
installation and must be observed.
4 Transporting the boiler
The boiler may be transported to the place of installation by crane/hoist,
forklift truck or pallet truck. Where possible, transport the boiler to the

system.
In cascade arrangements, ensure that the boiler is equipped with
a separate ventilation air line.
Isolate the air supply pipe from power supply and construct it to
adaptor using a standard air pipe system according to the national
requirements.
Insulate the ventilation air line to prevent condensate forming (inside
and outside).

[4] Rear boiler cover
An adaptor is available as an accessory for balanced flue
operation.
We would recommend the installation of a silencer in the
ventilation air line, subject to the air inlet aperture
arrangement on the outside of the building.
Insulate the ventilation air line to prevent condensate
being created in/on that line (inside and outside).
NOTICE: Damage to gaskets due to burred edges on the
insertion ends of the pipe parts!
Ensure that the insertion ends are free of burrs.
If chamfering on site is required, only in accordance
with the manufacturer's documentation.
The wind protectors for the combustion air supply and
the flue gas routing must not be installed on opposite
walls of the building.

NOTICE: System damage through incorrect installation!
Install the safety valve and automatic air vent valve or
safety assembly in the flow.
The safety assembly (accessory) comprises an
automatic air vent valve and a pressure gauge. As an
option, it may be converted for use with a safety valve
(additional accessory) and a fitting manifold for the
maximum pressure limiter.
If these accessories are not used, a safety valve,
pressure gauge and an automatic air vent valve must
generally be installed in the flow, upstream of the first
shut-off valve.
Subject to operating pressure, different safety valves are
required.

Connection the diaphragm expansion vessel (DEV)
To safeguard individual boilers, a DEV can be connected to the ¾ inch
connection on the return, in accordance with EN 12828.
Install the DEV on site to maintain the system pressure in the return,
upstream of the pump.
Observe the accessories installation instructions.
Connecting the drain & fill valve on site
To enable a topping up of the heating water, instruct the user about
the location of the drain & fill valve.
Install a drain & fill valve in the return outside the boiler itself.
Observe the accessories installation instructions.
6.5.4 Installing a DHW cylinder
Make the connection of a DHW cylinder to the flow and return on site.
The MC10 + BC10 control unit can switch the required external cylinder
primary pump ( MC10/BC10 instructions).
We recommend the on-site installation a dirt filter
(accessory) in the return to prevent contamination of the
boiler by the water.
