Introduction
The AIS750 Series Alarm Annunciator system is an unparallel, modular and dual operation mode
Annunciator, designed to give indication of an alarm condition, or equipment status, where a
high degree of reliability and exibility is required.
The Annunciator is made of universal cells being 75 x 50mm and comprising one large window,
two medium (Vertically or horizontally) or four small windows. These cells can be assembled in
an array to provide the number of rows and columns required to suit individual panel designs.
These alarm windows are driven from Four-channel Logic (Alarm) Cards and each window is
illuminated by “plug-in” LED Modules providing a maintenance free solution. The nished window
array is housed within an attractive aluminum frame which gives a modern ush mounting
appearance and allows the annunciator to be mounted in a single cut-out.
The AIS750 supports two operation modes:
- Stand-alone (standard) mode: In Standard Mode, the Serial communication feature is
disabled and system works as a stand-alone unit. No unique address needed for cards in this
mode and generally, Stand-alone mode is recommended if no serial communication needed
with other devices. All settings will be done by DIP switches and jumpers in this mode.
- Serial mode: In Serial mode, each card in the system has its own unique address. All
settings should be done through ALCON software in this mode. Selection of features is on
a per channel basis with no special tools or programming knowledge required. System can
communicate with other Annunciators, Cotroller and devices such as a computer in this mode.
The AIS750 Series Alarm Annunciator is fully programmable for a whole range of different
sequences and functions as listed in the ISA Publication “Annunciator Sequences and
Speci cations ISA-S18.1/1979 (R1985)”.
All Logic Cards are generally interchangeable within the annunciator, so stocking requirements
are minimized. As the system is fully eld-programmable, the operating speci cation of both
alarm sequence and functions can be changed during commissioning or at a later date after the
equipment is installed.

SERIAL COMMUNICATION
Protocol:
AIS750 supports Modbus RTU-Slave,
DNP3 Serial, DNP3 Ethernet and many
other protocols including; Modbus TCP,
BACnet MS/TP, BACnet IP, AB EtherNet IP,
Allen Bradley EtherNet, AB DF1, SNMP,
GE-EGD, GE-SRTP, GE-SNP, OPC,
Omron Fins, Metasys N2 Open,...
Multi-drop RS485 communication is
available. Up to 7 Annunciators can be
connected together and also to another
device.

The annunciator is made up of windows, window being 75 x 50mm (3``x 2``).
The type of cards installed dependent on system speci cation and the required options.
The following pages detail the system modules, individual cell types, available options
and system setting.

The AIS750 is modular and window based designed. It is manufactured from 75x50mm windows which can be
assembled in an array to provide the number of rows and columns required to suit individual panel designs.
Each cell within the annunciator is able to contain either;
- One single large window (H11 type): 75x50mm (WxH)
- Two medium windows (H21 type): 75x25mm (WxH)
(H12 type): 37.5x50mm (WxH)
(V21 type): 50x37.5mm (WxH)
- Four small windows (H44 type): 37.5x25mm (WxH)
Each window is illuminated by maintenance free “plug-in” LED Modules.

Logic Card
Relay Module (optional)
Depend on window type (H11, H21, H44, H12, V21),
each Logic card supports 1, 2 or 4 inputs. Each logic
card can be assigned to two different groups (Critical or
Non-critical).
Each Input can be con gured individually to accept Dry
(potential free) or Wet (powered) contacts. On standard
system, user can select either Dry Contact or 24VDC
signals. Another option is “Other Voltage”. Voltage of this
option should be determined at the time of order.
There are two operation modes, “Stand-alone (Standard)
and Serial”. The DIP switch on Logic Card has
different settings in each mode.
Each 4 channel Logic Card can be supplied with an
optional 4 channel Relay Module (RM) which plugs
into Logic Card and provides the user with a dry
contact (potential free contact) per alarm channel for
use with 3rd party devices.
These Repeat relays can be con gured to operate in
accordance with one of the following.
- Input Follower: The relay changes state each time
there is a change to the associated signal
input contact.
- Output (display) Follower: The relay changes state
on alarm and faithfully follows the display window.

The non alarm state of each individual channel can be congured to allow the
channel to operate from either a NO or NC contact.
AIS750 supports all ISA-S18.1/1979 (R1985) sequences. These sequences are Field
Selectable for each Alarm Controller (Logic Card). For example for H11 type, each individual
channel and for H21 type, each two channels will be con gured at the same time.
Flowcharts of all sequences are available at the end of this document.

AIS supports two groups of alarms. We call these two
groups; Critical and Non Critical. There are two output
relays on the Interface Module. Each relay can be
assigned to any of these two groups.
Each 4 channel Logic Card can be supplied with an
optional 4 channel Relay Module (RM) which plugs into
Logic Card and provides the user with a dry contact (volt free contact) per alarm channel to
be used by 3rd party devices. In Stand-alone mode, these repeat relays can be con gured by
Logic Card jumper setting (as above) to operate in accordance with one of the following.

In Serial operation mode, each Logic Card in the
system has its own unique address. This unique
address is set using the switches 2-8 located on
DIP switch as shown below.
It is important that user notes the card address
when removing multiple cards or replacing a
card.

Individual channel Repeat Relays
Each 4 channel Logic Card can be supplied with an optional 4 channel Relay Module (RM) which plugs
into Logic Card and provides the user with a dry contact (potential free contact) per alarm channel for use
with 3rd party devices. Each relay is equipped with a change-over contact and the user can select the
contact state to NO or NC using a 3 way header and 2 way jumper as shown bellow.
These Repeat relays can be con gured by Logic Card jumper setting (in Stand-alone mode) or in
software (in Serial mode) to operate in accordance with one of the following.
- Input Follower: The relay changes state each time there is a change to the associated signal
input contact.
- Output (display) Follower: The relay changes state on alarm and faithfully follows the display
window.

Interface & Communication Module
Interface module communicates with Logic Cards and
supports internal and external pushbuttons and provides
common outputs such as internal buzzer, common alarm
outputs such as First-up output, common Alarm Horn,
etc. It also manages common functions such as system
con guration (through serial port) and communication
protocols.
There are two relays on Interface module. Function of
these relays can be set by jumpers allowing the relays to
operate as:
Audible (Alarm Horn):
Activates on alarm and remain active (within a group)
until the Mute or Acknowledge pushbutton has been
pressed (Horn 1 / Horn2).
First-up:
Activates when the rst alarm occurs within a group
Common Alarm (Group Alarms):
Once channels have been assigned to groups (Critical,
Non-critical), the user is able to link a group to a
common relay.
The AIS750 supports two operation modes; Standalone
(standard) mode and Serial mode.
DIP switches on Interface Module has different
settings in each mode.
To operate in Serial mode a Communication Card
(Com. Module) plugs into Interface Module to support
RS485 and RS232 ports. These ports are selectable
by jumpers.

The AIS750 supports two operation modes; Stand-alone (standard) and Serial mode. Stand-alone mode
is recommended if no serial communication needed with other devices. The operation mode of Interface
Module should be set as bellow table.
Interface module provides two common relays. Each relay can be set as Alarm Horn1 (Non-critical
group), Alarm Horn2 (Critical group), First-up Horn and Common Alarm Horn. It also manages the
internal and external pushbuttons. For Serial Communication, a Com. Module will be connected to this
module. On standard systems, interface module is located in the bottom left hand corner of unit when
viewed from the rear.

Com. Module provides two individual ports, Com 1
and Com. 2 via a 4 pin pluggable connector (Com 2 is
disabled in this system).
Each port can be set as RS485 or RS232 as shown
below.
There is a Termination Jumper for RS485. This jumper
should be short ONLY for END NODE (last unit in
network).

Each Input should be con gured individually to accept Dry (potential free) or powered contacts.
Make sure all inputs have been con gured properly before wiring the system, otherwise
system will be damaged.
Please ensure there is no external links between Input terminals and power supply terminals and
wires.
All “2” terminals are internally connected. Using this terminal for common wire for inputs is permitted
ONLY when using the same power source which is supplying the system.

Individual channel Repeat Relays
Each 4 channel Logic Card can be supplied with an optional 4 channel Relay Module (RM) to provide
dry contact (potential free) contacts per alarm channel to be used with 3rd party devices. Each relay is
equipped with a change-over contact and the user can select the contact state to NO or NC.
These relays can be con gured to follow either input (Input Follower) or output (Output Follower).
