•Use special care when emptying heavily loaded
tanks.
•To avoid spontaneous combustion, empty dust
box after each use.
•Do not leave dust extractor unattended when
battery pack is installed. Removebatterypack
whennotinuseandbeforeservicing.

withanyopeningblocked;keepfreeofdust,lint,
hair,andanythingelsethatmayreduceairow.
•Maintain dust extractor. Check for misalign-
ment or binding of moving parts, breakage of
parts and any other condition that may affect
the dust extractor's operation. If damaged, have
the dust extractor repaired before use. Many
accidentsarecausedbypoorlymaintainedtools.
•Maintain labels and nameplates. Thesecarry
importantinformation. If unreadable or missing,
contacta MILWAUKEEservicefacilityfora
replacement.
•Use dust extractor only with specically des-
ignated battery packs. Useofanyotherbattery

commonsense.Donotusedustextractorwhenyou
aretired,distractedorundertheinuenceofdrugs,
alcoholormedicationcausingdiminishedcontrol.
•The operation of a dust extractor can result in
foreign objects being blown into eyes, whichcan
resultineyedamage.Alwayswearsafetygoggles
orglasseswithsideshieldswhenoperatingdust
extractor.
•Wear a face or dust maskwhenworkingindust
situations.Dustparticlescanharmyourlungs.
•Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is
in the off-position before inserting battery pack.
Insertingbatterypackindustextractorthathasthe
switchoninvitesaccidents.
•Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and
balance at all times.Thisenablesbettercontrol
ofthedustextractorinunexpectedsituations.
•Keep hair, loose clothing, ngers, and all parts
of body away from openings and moving parts.
•Use only as described in this manual. Useonly
manufacturer’srecommendedattachments.
•Do not use without dust box and/or lter in
place.
•Do not use to pick up ammable or combustible
liquids suchaspetroloruseinareaswherethey
maybepresent.

READ AND SAVE ALL INSTRUCTIONS
FOR FUTURE USE
•Turn off all controls before removing battery pack.
•To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not use
on wet surfaces. Do not expose to rain. Store
indoors.
•Before using the battery pack or charger read
the operators manuals, and any labels on the
battery pack, charger and dust extractor.
•Recharge only with the charger specied by
the manufacturer. Achargerthatissuitablefor
onetypeofbatterypackmaycreateariskofre
whenusedwithanotherbatterypack.
•When battery pack is not in use, keep it away
from other metal objects like paper clips, coins,
keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects
that can make a connection from one terminal
to another. Shortingthebatteryterminalstogether
maycauseburnsorare.
•Do not use damaged battery pack or dust
extractor.Ifbatterypackordustextractorarenot
workingastheyshould,havebeendropped,dam-
aged,leftoutdoors,ordroppedintowater,return
themtoaservicecenter.

•Before using the dust extractor, read this op-
erators manual, your tool, battery pack and
charger operators manuals, and all labels
on the dust extractor, battery pack, charger
and tool.
Always use side handle assembly with the
correct neck diameter for the rotary hammer/
hammer drill. An ill-tting side handle will not
tightensecurely,causinglossofcontrol.
Never use dust extractor without dust box and
HEPA lter in place. Never use water to clean
dust box or HEPA lter.
Wear ear protection.Exposure to noise can
causehearingloss.
Always use side handle provided with dust
extractor when using with a rotary hammer/
hammer drill. When dust extractor is removed
from the tool, always use side handle(s) sup-
plied with the tool. Loss of control can cause
personalinjury.
Hold power tool by insulated gripping sur-
faces, when performing an operation where the
fastener may contact hidden wiring. Fasteners
contactinga“live”wiremaymakeexposedmetal
partsofthepowertool“live”andcouldgivethe
operatoranelectricshock.

Inserting/Removing the Battery
Toremove thebattery,pushinthereleasebuttons
andpullthebatterypackawayfromthetool.
To insertthebattery,slidethepackintothebody
ofthetool.Makesureitlatchessecurelyintoplace.

sories. Only use accessories specifically
recommended for this tool. Others may be
hazardous.

cauTion Keep lter clean. Efciency of
the HAMMERVAC™ is largely dependent on
the lter. A dirty lter will reduce the air ow
and overall efciency of the system. Do not
clean with water or compressed air. Remove
from dust box and tap clean.

Installing/Removing the
Dust Box and HEPA Filter
To removethedustbox:
1.TurnOFFthetool.
2.Removethebatterypack.
3.
Pressthedustboxlatchdown.
4.Pullthedustboxawayfrom
theHAMMERVAC™.
5.Emptydustfromthedustbox.
6.Ifnecessary, pull the HEPA
lterawayfromthedustbox
andtapclean.Donotclean
with water or compressed
air.
To install thedustbox:
1.Slide the dustbox into the body ofthe HAM-
MERVAC™.
2.Thedustboxlatchshouldsnapintoplace.
NOTE: DonotoperatetheHAMMERVAC™with-
outthedustboxandHEPAlterinplace.Dustbox
cannotbeinstalledwithoutHEPAlter.

2.Turn the nozzle assembly
leftorrighttolockintoplace.

3.To remove, reverse the
procedure.
Installing/Removing Nozzle
Replacethenozzle:
•Afterdrillingabout1500holes,
•Whenthebitbrushshowssigns
ofwear,
•Whensuctionisreduced,
•Whendustescapesthroughthe
bitbrushduringuse
Toreplace the nozzle,
press
in
the
release
button
and
pull
out
from
the
lower
nozzleassembly. Slide the new
nozzleinto thelowernozzleas-
semblyuntilitsnapsintoplace.

After noticing a
considerable loss of suction,
discard and replace HEPA
filter (Cat. No. 49-90-2306).
Contact your Milwaukee dealer or service
facility to order a replacement bit brush.

Attaching the HAMMERVAC™ to a Rotary
Hammer/Hammer Drill
TheHAMMERVAC™isprovidedwiththreeclamp-
ing collar assemblies and one side handle grip.
Choosethecorrectclampingcollarassemblyfor
thetoolbeingused(seeSpecications).Theside
handlegrip should be unscrewed from one as-
semblytobeusedonanother.
1.TurnOFF,remove thebattery pack from the
HAMMERVAC™, and disconnect power from
thetool.
2.Removethetoolsidehandle.
3.Partiallyscrewsidehandlegripontoclamping
collarassembly
4.Slide theHAMMER-
VAC™ side handle
clampingcollar as-
sembly over the
chuck and onto the
neckofthetool.The
clamplevermustbe
facingup(3).
5.Attachthesidehan-
dle clamping collar
assembly onto the
HAMMERVAC™,rst
theupper jaw, then
lowerjaw.
6.Pressdowntheclamplever (3)tosecurethe
clampingcollar assemblyto theHAMMER-
VAC™.
7.Rotate the HAMMERVAC™ and side handle
griptothedesiredposition,andtightensecurely.
Adjusting the Side Handle Position
1.Loosenthesidehandleclampingcollarassembly
byunscrewingthesidehandlegripuntiltheside
handleclampingcollarassemblyrotatesfreely.
2.Rotatethesidehandlegriptothedesiredposi-
tion.
3.Tightenthesidehandlegripsecurely.
Installing/Removing the Bit
Fitting the HAMMERVAC™ to the Tool and Bit
Forpropersuctionanddepthcontrol,positionthe
nozzle assembly so the bit is ush with the for-
wardfaceofthenozzle:
1.Pressandholdthetooland
bitadjustmentbutton.
2.Push in the nozzle assem-
blyuntilthebitisushwith
thefrontfaceofthenozzle.
3.Releasethetoolandbitad-
justmentbutton.
NOTE: FullyextendtheHAM-
MERVAC™ before storing to
preservespringlife.
Setting the Drilling Depth
1.FittheHAMMERVAC™totheToolandBit.
2. Press and hold the depth gauge button and
slidethedepthgaugetothedesireddepth.The
drilling depth is the last visible measurement
shown when viewed from the top of the tool.

withafullychargedbatterypack,cleanthecontacts
onthebatterypack.Ifthetoolstilldoesnotwork
properly,returnthetool,chargerandbatterypack,
toaMILWAUKEEservicefacilityforrepairs.

Using the Power Switch
AUTO TosettheHAMMERVAC™tostartauto-
maticallyasaholeisbeingdrilled,move
the power switch to theAUTO position.
Whenthenozzleassemblyispushed in,
theHAMMERVAC™willrun.NOTE:The
HAMMERVAC™ will continue to run 3-5
secondsafterthetoolhasfullyextended
toensurealldustiscapturedindustbox.
ON ToturnthetoolON,movethepowerswitch
totheONposition.TheHAMMERVAC™
willruncontinuously.
OFF ToturnthetoolOFF,movethepowerswitch
totheOFFposition.
Proper Operation
1.Emptythedustbox.
2.Installandpositionthenozzleassemblytothe
desiredside.
3.Attach sidehandle clamping collar assembly
andgriptotool.
4.FittheHAMMERVAC™totheToolandBit.
5.Setthedrilldepth.
6.Installthebatterypack.
7.TurnHAMMERVAC™toONorAUTO.
8.Begin useaccording to tool manufacturer in-
structions.
9.Alwaysholdthetoolsecurelyusingbothhandles
tomaintaincontrol.
10.Stopandemptydustbox:
•Whensuctiondecreases
•When dust begins to come through the bit
brush.
NOTE: When using the optional Crevice Tool
accessory (Cat. No. 49-90-2325), set the drill
depth to 0.

Cleaning
Clean dust and debris from charger and tool
vents. Keep tool handles clean, dry and free of oil
or grease. Use only mild soap and a damp cloth
to clean the tool, battery pack and charger since
certain cleaning agents and solvents are harmful to
plastics and other insulated parts. Some of these
include petrol, turpentine, lacquer thinner, paint
thinner, chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia
and household detergents containing ammonia.
Never use flammable or combustible solvents
around tools.
