Telex Road King 56 dynamic microphone is designed for voice communications applications requiring ruggedness and portability. Its noise-canceling design makes it effective in noisy locations and its excellent voice response makes it a good choice in quiet areas as well. The Road King 56 uses a dynamic, differential type cartridge which discriminates against sounds greater than 1/2-inch (12 mm) away. A non-marking lip guard assures correct microphone-to-mouth positioning and the push-to-talk switch is located on the top of the microphone housing. It includes a six-conductor, black coiled cord which is relieved at the microphone housing by a telephone type strain relief grommet. The coiled cord is 12 inches retracted, 6 feet extended and may be wired for either relay or electronic switching.
