Use of the DD-VPX vacuum pump
The vacuum pump is designed exclusively for fastening
applications.
Surface smoothness
The vacuum achieved is influenced by the surface of the
base material, i.e. rough, smooth etc.
Base material
The base material must be smooth and solid. Bricks and
plasterwork, for example, are not suitable or may be sui-
table only under certain conditions.
Check
Check the float glass regularly. Empty the water sepa-
rator when the red ball appears.
Caution
The vacuum pump (the motor, pump and silencer in par-
ticular) becomes hot after a long period of use. Conse-
quently, do not open or touch the ventilation slots imme-
diately after operation.
Operation
● Connect the supply cord. Connect the pump vacuum
hose to the baseplate vacuum pad (quick-release cou-
pling).
● Unscrew the baseplate levelling screws slightly and
check the condition of the baseplate seal.
● Switch on the vacuum pump.
● Position the baseplate.
Observe the manometer: underpressure must be
less than -0.65 bar.
– green area = satisfactory
– red area = critical, insufficient vacuum
(Check system for leakage or choose other basepla-
te fastening method.).
Please note
● Check the condition of the surface of the base mate-
rial.
● The vacuum pump operates correctly only when stan-
ding horizontally on its base (max. 10° tilt permitted).
● Place the vacuum pump on a dry surface.
● Tighten the levelling screws until the baseplate is
fastened rigidly and securely.
● As the vacuum pump is not equipped with an acou-
stic warning device, always monitor the pressure gau-
ge. Stop work immediately and use anchors to secu-
re the baseplate if the indicator moves into the red
range (critical range).
● In case of a power failure, a non-return valve ensu-
res that the vacuum is generally maintained for approx.
1.5 minutes. This time, however, depends on the sta-
te of the surface of the base material (i.e. rough,
smooth etc.) and on the condition of the seal.
● Never switch off the pump while the diamond drilling
system is in operation. Correct procedure: Stop the
drilling system, detach it from the wall and place the
drilling rig with baseplate on the floor before swit-
ching off the vacuum pump.
Changing the filter +
● Unplug the supply cord from the mains socket.
● Use two screwdrivers to release the filter cover.
● Remove the filter cartridge.
● Blow out the filter with oil-free compressed air. Chan-
ge the filter cartridge if necessary.
● Re-insert the filter cartridge.
● Close the filter cover. Check that the cover seal is in
place and in good condition.
Emptying the water separator
Check the float glass. If the red ball appears, stop dril-
ling and empty the water separator.
Proceed as follows:
● Unplug the supply cord from the mains socket.
● Remove the rubber plug and empty the water con-
tainer.
● Tilt the pump until no further water flows out.
● Clean the rubber plug and contact surface and re-ins-
ert the plug. Make sure the plug is correctly seated.
Malfunctions
Possible cause Remedy
The pump runs but the vacuum is not sufficient
Water separator full Empty water separator and
check filter.
Filter dirty Clean or replace filter.
Base material surface not Use alternative fastening
suitable for vacuum system.
technique
Hose connection, filter Clean contact surfaces and
cover not properly securedconnect properly.
The pump switches itself off
Overheating protection The pump will restart
causes cut-out when it has cooled
sufficiently.
