Installationinstructionsshouldbefollowedinaccordancewiththeapplication‐specificbrakepad
installationinstructionsprovidedbythevehiclemanufacturer.
BrakePadInstallationProcedure
Installbrakepadsproperly.Besurepadsaresecurelypositionedinthecaliper.
CheckBrakeFluid.Flushandreplace,asneeded.
Checkallhydraulicpartsforexcesswearandtear.
Checkrotorfordeepgroovesorscoring.Resurfaceorreplacerotor,asneeded.
Ifrotorsdonotneedresurfacing,thencontaminationfromthepreviousbrakepadsmustbe
removed.Sandrotorswith130‐gritsandpaperusingmoderatepressure.Usesoapandwaterto
cleanrotorsurfaceaftersanding.Rotorsshouldbefreeandclearofoil,greaseandbrakefluid.
Inspectcalipersforfreedomofmovement.Lubricatewherenecessary.

1. Afterreachingmediumspeedengagebrakepedaltoslowcarwithoutcomingtoacomplete
stop.Releasepedalquicklyanddonotdragbrakes.Repeatfourorfivetimes.
2. Athigherspeedsengagebrakepedaltoslowcarwithoutcomingtoacompletestop.Release
pedalquicklyanddonotdragbrakes.Repeatfivetimes.
3. Atornearracespeedengagebrakepedaltoslowcarwithoutcomingtoacompletestop.
Releasepedalquicklyanddonotdragbrakes.Repeatthreetimes.Allowafewsecondsbetween
brakeengagementswhilecarisinmotion.
4. Donotholdbrakepedal.Parkcarforapproximately20minutesoruntilbrakerotorsare
completelycooltothetouch.
5. Ifduringtheabovestepsthebrakepedalbecomessoftorbrakefadeisnoticed,parkthecar
immediatelyforapproximately20minutes.Donotholdbrakepedal.
IMPORTANTREMINDERSWHENBURNISHING/BEDDINGBRAKEPADS
• Donotattempttousebadlywornordamagedrotorswithnewbrakepads.
• Donotdragbrakeswhilecarismovingduringbreak‐inprocedure.
• Donotengagepedalwhilecarisstoppedatanytimefollowingthebreak‐inprocedure.
• Uponcompletingtheprocedure,allowthebrakesystemtocompletelycoolbeforeracing.
• Applyingthepedalafewtimesbeforethestartoftheracewillallowthebrakepadstoheatup
beforeattemptingtoreachracespeeds.
• Cleanausedrotorsurfacewithfinesandpaperorsteelwool,rinsewithwater,dryandinstall
beforebeddingnewpads.
• Someformsofracingdon’tallowtimefortheproperbreak‐inproceduretobeperformed.
However,itisstillveryimportanttoattempttoperformatleastthecoreoftheprocedure:Build
upheatslowlyandallowthesystemtocompletelycooldownbeforeracingifpossible
