Flashing
- How to flash your DCT4 phones?
If your phones software is installed by Phoenix data package to phoenix directory please tick Phoenix checkbox first.
1.) Select corresponding model, desired version, from listboxes.
2.) From Product code listbox you can select the language pack you wish to flash to your phone.
MCU, PPM, UCP files will be automatically selected.
Press Flash button and your phone will be flashed.
Options for flashing:
Enable FTD: this setting enables Nokia net monitor on phones.
Skip Bluetooth flash: Skips Bluetooth flashing.
Skip flash erase: Tick this option only if you erased flash just before, or you are uploading the same software version to your phone.
Erase Flash: Erases flash area from erase file. Take care! PM values will be deleted also! (Only for experts)
Erase full: Erases the whole flash IC. Take care! PM values will be deleted also!
Easy flash cable: If you use easy flash cable, please tick this checkbox before any operation.
After flash processing settings:
Set Default: Full factory is enabled automatically! Pay attention to this setting!
- If you want to delete your phone settings and saved data (contacts, pictures) leave this checkbox selected. Otherwise unselect it!
Unlock: Click on this checkbox if you want to unlock your handset after flashing.

Upload pm: Select this, if your phone has network problems. Permanent memory has values regarding this, and also other data also, so

PM maintenance
Permanent memory can be read and written by this option. Use this if your phone has network or charging problems for example.

Calculate lock codes
For normal DCT4 models, you can calculate unlock codes. Just enter IMEI, Asic type, mask, box ID and provider also.
If the phone is on the cable, you can use Read Info And Calculate button also.
Manage SIM
Write to phone: If you want lock phones to specific provider, use this option.
Read from phone: You can read the actual SIM-lock fields from phone.
Other options
Read lock info: Read your phones lock info.
Unlock: Unlock your phone (Check your local laws, in some countries this operation is illegal!)
Auto Poll checkbox at the right side helps you, if you have big quantity of phones to unlock and you wont click the unlock button every

For Dct4+ and Asic11 phones unlock:
Our method unlocks these phones in a unique way, so your phone will not locked after you flash the phone!
If you get error after the „Write lock succeeded” message, you don’t need unlock the phone again, just flash it with highest available
version.
Imei Manage
Warning! IMEI change in most countries is illegal! Check your local laws!

IMEI change by patch -> This is for normal DCT4 phones.
Enter desired IMEI (or ESN), tick patch software, and click Do job.
If you want repair your phones with original IMEI tick Use original also!
Patch SW validity check is just for 6610i, 7250 phones with Contact Service problems.
Set warranty too: If you want to set warranty IMEI to the new patched one.
Asic11 IMEI change by patch
This field is for Asic11 phones. Use the same way as stated above.
After IMEI change you can’t change the IMEI again and again, because you will have problems with the phone.

1. Erase your phone with Erase full button
2. Flash your phone with latest version.
3. Upload the corresponding PM file.
4. Do Full factory reset
5. Check your phone. It should work without any problem, but with old IMEI / Lock-info.
Patch phone again. All should be ok!
IMEI repair
This is for empty phones. Write desired IMEI, and press Write UEM.
(Caution! You can do this only once, because UEM is OTP- one time programmable!)
Write flash checksum: If your phone reboots in every 30 sec, try to repair it by this.
Read UEM: You can read out the original OTP IMEI from UEM

You can generate RPL for your empty phones with desired IMEI. Afterwards you can write it by RPL maintenance.
If you have many phones, use auto increment options for an automated process.
- How to use RPL functions with UniversalBox:
In some cases, you must recalculate UEM/Flash checksum in Nokia phones, like: UEM changing, Flash changing, Flash checksum
corrupted by some reason. UB can help you to solve these problems.
It is working with all ASIC types (ASIC-1 to ASIC-7).
Connect the phone to the box.
If you select „Write UEM”, it will recalculate both UEM/Flash checksum, but you must enter an IMEI or ESN number. In this case,
UEM must be empty.
If you need only recalculate the flash checksum, just press the „Write flash checksum” button.
The software always makes backup RPL file to Uni/Files/Nokia/DCT-4/RPL/ directory.
If you need to make RPL files for later reuse, you can generate them also here.
Enter the IMEI/ESN number to the correct field.
Select the phone ASIC type.
If you want to make multiple RPL’s, you can do it with select „Auto increment”.
Enter a number to the field. This number means, when an RPL generated, the software increments the number by the entered value.
Enter to the count field, how much RPL need to be generated.
Press the „Generate” button.
The software places the RPL files to Uni/Files/Nokia/DCT-4/RPL/ directory.

- How to flash your BB5 phones?

Options for flashing:

Dead USB: If your phone doesn’t power-on, and you want flash it anyway over USB you should check it. (Not all models support this!)
Enable High Speed Flash: This option will enable 7,5M speed. It is checked by default, but if you get problems, uncheck it.
Enable downgrade: Nokia BB5 models are not supporting firmware downgrade. If you want downgrade it anyway, check it.
Skip flash erase: Tick this option only, if you erased the flash before, or you are uploading the same software version to the phone.
Save certificates before flash: Tick this checkbox if you want save certificates like NPC, sim-lock data before flashing. It is necessary,
because these certificates are unique at each BB5 phones.
After flash processing settings:

When do you need to calculate BB5 RPL?
• BB5 handset has bad IMEI 123456-10-654321 because of wrong flashing.
• Not accept any original sim-card.
• You need to unlock it, but phone has 3/3 and 10/10 counters (not accept any NCK)
If you face one of these problems follow these steps:
1. Click Send ASK (this will read some data from your phone, and sends to us)
2. Wait about 24 hours.
3. Click Get RPL (If your RPL is ready or not, you will notice here)
4. Once you got RPL click Write RPL.
5. Do PM AUTH
6. Write phone specific PM (without field 120, 308).
Your phone should be OK.
Enter NCK
If you have the original NCK from your provider, you can enter it manually from the keypad, or if you have no more tries, then you can
enter from UB also. Plug your phone to the cable, enter the correct NCK to the field and push send button.
No-TP maintenance
You can unlock your phone at this place. You don’t need to know if the phone is SL, SL20 or SL30. Software will know how to unlock
your phone. Just connect the phone to the cable and press the Unlock button.
If your phone has wrong lock info, unlock it again, if possible UB will try to repair them. If you have old SL phone you can use Simlock
repair button. If phone is not old SL software will tell you this.
Other options
Read info: Reads information regarding software version, hardware version, Locks etc.
Reset life timer: Set to 0 the phones total talk time. (*#war0anty#)
PM Auth: This function is needed before PM writing. Without this you will get Contact Service problems.
If you get Step 1 error, try again because answer must be under 3 sec.
If you get Step 2 error, write RPL first and try again, because your Super-dongle data is probably corrupted.
Restore lock: If you have backup file from the original state, you can restore sim-lock state.
Restore certificates: If you have taken backup from your phone before flashing, you can restore it with this function
Self test: You can diagnose your phone.
Set product code: You can modify the phones product code. If wrong product code is set after NSU update, the phone will have other
languages!

Flashing
- How to flash without patching the software (this will flash original flash image)
Select correct phone model

2. Select the “GDFS” checkbox and select the GDFS file.

- How to rebuild EPROM on T610, T630, Z600 phones

2. You should either specify an IMEI number or check the “Use OTP IMEI” checkbox in order to rebuild EPROM.

Flashing
- How to flash UMTS phones
1. Select phone model.

If you have “phone start up failed” problem, upload Custom image again. This image contains ringtones, pictures and user profiles.

You can upgrade your CID version. Downgrading not possible. This is necessary if you have “red led blinking” phone.

You can write OTP IMEI to empty phones. (Or after flash IC change)

JAVA maintenance
This should work with all available CID versions (49, 51, 52, and 53) on DB2010, 2012, 2020 and PNX5230 platforms.
Unlock
Click to „Unlock” button
After java application uploaded, please turn on the phone with home network card or Motorola test card.
Go to Entertainment menu then enter Games submenu. Start Unlocker application, and wait till the phone restarts.
When the phone restarted, check if the phone is unlocked or not by pressing keys: >*<<*<*
Enter Service info menu, then select SIM lock submenu. If the phone is still locked start the Unlocker java application again.
IMEI change procedure
Just write any IMEI to “Java Unlocker” group box and click to Write IMEI.
Procedure is the same as before just you will have new IMEI also.
Make rest file: If you have new software version witch is not supported yet, you can make rest files for this procedure. Procedure is
very simple, just follow software messages.

Debug info dump: This operation is like Self test at Nokia. You can check for errors.
Enter file explorer: You can manage pictures, sounds and other user data also.
Restore: Restores your phones lock zone if it was backed up before
Unlock: Unlocks your DB2020 CID49 handset by patch. If you face any problem during unlock upload any tested GDFS and try again.
Repair red blinking: If you have red led blinking phones, (not HW problem) you can repair them by using this button.
Repair EROM: This function will write standalone EROM to your phone. This is needed only if phone is dead.
Clear user code: This function will set the user code to default 0000

Important values
You can edit Lang Pack, CDA, revision code, reset total call timer and user code.
GDFS file
You can also read GDFS zone from phone, and also write GDFS file to phone.

The same as before, just in this case UB will flash the full GDFS image to the phone. Necessary on absolutely dead phones.

2. Select package, from the drop down list, what you wish to flash to the phone.
The progress window will notify you, if all files are available on your computer. If not, please download the files witch are marked red.
3. Press: Flash.
4. Connect phone to USB cable while pressing “C” key. In same cases there is no “C” key. In this case press “@” key.
