SECTION 1 - PC REQUIREMENTS
1-1. Classic Version
Operating System: Windows 7/8/10
Insight Centerpoint is a 32-bit application. The PC must have all Windows updates installed, including latest .NET framework files.
Data Rate (Welding machine to Centerpoint):
~5 KB/second (per weld per welding machine connected to Centerpoint)
The Insight Centerpoint program can operate in a VM environment; however, the application’s performance is dependent on configuration of the VM. At
minimum, the VM must be configured to use TCP/IP, USB, and to create an ODBC connection. VM configuration and performance is the responsibility
of the user.
System Hardware:
S Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon X2 or better
S 4 GB RAM (32-bit OS) 1 machine connection
S 8 GB RAM (64-bit OS) 2 to 15 machine connections
S 16 GB RAM (64-bit OS) 16 to 30 machine connections
S 250 GB of available hard drive space
Specified hard drive space is a minimum requirement to run Centerpoint and provide storage of data for a limited amount of time. If the PC is going to be
the permanent data storage machine, or if multiple machines will be connected to the PC, a larger hard drive is recommended. A calculator exists to
calculate the amount of hard drive space needed for specific customer production rates.
Computer Monitor/TV:
A computer monitor/TV allows the operator to view Centerpoint from anywhere in the work station. Minimum display screen resolution is 1024 x 768.
Optional - Dual NICs (Network Interface Cards):
This option allows the PC to have a point to point Ethernet connection to the Axcess E or Continuum for data collection while also being connected to the
plant network. It essentially isolates the Axcess E or Continuum from the plant network. Remote Desktop tools can then be used to communicate with
the Axcess E or Continuum over the network.
1-2. Contemporary Version
Operating System: Windows 7/10
The PC must have all Windows updates installed, including latest .NET framework files.
Data Rate (Welding machine to Centerpoint):
~5 KB/second (per weld per welding machine connected to Centerpoint)
System Hardware:
S Intel Core 2 Duo, AMD Athlon X2 or better
S 8 GB RAM
S 250 GB of available hard drive space
. Specified hard drive space is a minimum requirement to run Centerpoint and provide storage of data for a limited amount of time.
Computer Monitor/TV:
A computer monitor/TV allows the operator to view Centerpoint from anywhere in the work station. Minimum display screen resolution is 1024 x 768.
Optional - Dual NICs (Network Interface Cards):
This option allows the PC running Centerpoint to have a point to point Ethernet connection to the device for data collection while also being connected to
the plant network. It essentially isolates the device from the plant network. Remote desktop tools can then be used to communicate with the device over
the network.
Internet Browser Installed:
S Mozilla Firefox 3.5 or higher
S Google Chrome 15 or higher
S Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or higher
. If your company has configured Internet Explorer with any limitations or set it up to use a proxy server, it is recommended that Firefox or Chrome
be installed rather than reconfiguring Internet Explorer.

SECTION 2 - DOWNLOADING SOFTWARE
Thank you for purchasing Insight Centerpoint from Miller Electric Manufacturing LLC. The release of version 10 offers users the option of a complete
update of the application user interface. This update is referred to as the Contemporary interface. The Contemporary version does not include all fea-
tures from previous versions of Insight Centerpoint at this time, but the option to download and install the application with the original (Classic) user
interface is available. Use the information below to determine which version is appropriate for your application.
Download CPv10 Contemporary interface if:
S Software will be used in a manual or automation welding environment where WPS verification/process control and missing weld detection
is sufficient.
S Jobs/parts from earlier versions of Centerpoint DO NOT need to be used.
S Modern software user interface with built in production reporting is desired.
Download CPv10 Classic interface if:
S Software will be used in an automation environment (robotic or fixed) where defect detection via Signature Analysis is desired.
S Jobs/parts from earlier versions of Centerpoint need to be used.

SECTION 3 - INSTALLATION
3-1. Installing Classic Version
Insight Centerpoint is installed as any normal Windows application. The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\Miller\Centerpoint\. The
Insight Centerpoint application files are stored in the default installation directory. Insight Centerpoint requires a working folder which is used to store
and organize configuration files, welding data, reports, logs, and part or job related files into a central location or working folder. A separate Working
Folder Installation will automatically follow the Insight Centerpoint program installation if a working folder has not already been successfully installed
(see Section 3-2).
The Insight Centerpoint program and supporting files are installed via a standard Microsoft installer package (or .MSI). The Insight Centerpoint applica-
tion is registered within the Windows system and will be added to the Add/Remove Programs listing in the Control Panel. When using the .MSI package,
Insight Centerpoint can be installed only once per machine. When run, the .MSI will check if a version of Insight Centerpoint is already installed. The
.MSI will then install or upgrade the Insight Centerpoint program files if a newer version (or upgrade) is available.
. Administrative privileges are required to install Insight Centerpoint. If administrative privileges are lacking, running setup.exe will prompt a Run
as dialog box for entering administrative credentials, even while running under a limited user login.

OM-248030 Page 7
3-2. Installing Working Folder (For Classic Version Only)
A working folder is required to successfully work with the Classic version of Insight Centerpoint. The working folder is where all configuration files,
welding data, reports, and logs are stored. More than one working directory can be created if desired. Multiple working folders are generally only neces-
sary when advanced PC configurations are utilized, or a consultant may want to separate configuration and data for different customers.
. Administrative privileges are required to install Insight Centerpoint. If administrative privileges are lacking, running setup.exe will prompt a Run
as dialog box so administrative credentials can be entered, even while running under a limited user login.
A. How To Launch The Insight Centerpoint Working Folder Setup Wizard
The Setup Insight Centerpoint Working Folder installation files are installed during the Insight Centerpoint program installation. They reside in the In-
sight Centerpoint installation directory specified during the Insight Centerpoint program installation. There are a few different ways to launch the Insight
Centerpoint
Working Folder Setup Wizard.
S Automatically: After the Insight Centerpoint program installation completes, it will automatically launch the Insight Centerpoint Working Fold-
er Setup Wizard if no existing Working Folders exist.
S Shortcut: The Insight Centerpoint Working Folder Setup Wizard can be launched manually from the Start Menu. Go to Start > All Programs
> Miller > Insight Centerpoint > Tools and select Setup New Working Folder.
S Insight Centerpoint Installation Directory: The Insight Centerpoint Working Folder Setup Wizard can be launched directly from the Insight
Centerpoint
installation directory. Use My Computer or Windows Explorer to navigate to your program installation directory (default: c:\Pro-
gram Files\Miller\Centerpoint\). Running the file Setup WorkingFolder.exe or setup.exe will launch the InstallWorkingFolder.msi.
B. Setup.exe
The setup.exe is the preferred method for executing an .MSI, if provided.
The setup.exe program performs automatic checks that verify required software components and administrative privileges exist prior to executing the
InstallWorkingFolder.msi package.
Double-click SetupWorkingFolder.exe or setup.exe to begin the installation process.
InstallWorkingFolder.msi file is the installation package that contains the Insight Centerpoint Working Directory files.

OM-248030 Page 8
Figure 3-9. Enter Name
The Setup wizard will prompt you to provide a name for the Insight Centerpoint working folder (seeFigure 3-9). The installer will automatically create a
folder (with this specified name) and set the proper folder permissions so any user can access the configuration files and data. See example names
below and possible uses of a named working folder.
S Station 1:
It may be necessary to share one PC with multiple welding stations. If the unique welding stations are NOT working on the same part simultane-
ously, it is recommended to install a unique working folder for each welding station or operator. Certain functionality within Insight Centerpoint
warrants installing and running multiple working folders simultaneously. A Switch Applications button is available and can be programmed
to allow the separate users switch to their program when necessary. If two or more welders are contributing to the same part, it is not necessary
to have unique working folders.
S Area 2:
If multiple Insight devices are networked to a central (or area) PC, you can run multiple working directories (one for each area) on a single
PC. Note that each working folder has a network associated with it.
A network can consist of one or many Insight devices.
S Joe Smith:
If a common laptop is shared across multiple users, each user can setup their own working folder if desired. Each user can have a unique
working directory (with or without password protection) which will keep their own personal settings and data organized as they desire.
S Customer A:
A consultant or service technician may want to create a separate working folder for each customer. This will automatically keep all configura-
tion settings and data separate depending on which customer they are supporting.
. This is not requesting the full path to a working folder. The working folder location is selected on the next screen.
