Beforelightingthefirecheckwiththeinstallerthatthework
andchecksdescribedintheinstallationinstructionshave
beencarriedoutcorrectlyandthatthechimneyhasbeen
swept,issound,andfreeofanyobstructions.
WARNINGTheremustnotbeanextractorfanfittedinthe
sameroomasthisapplianceasthiscancausetheappliance
toemitsmokeandfumesintotheroom.
Iftheapplianceisfittedinplaceofanopenfirethenthe
chimneyshouldbesweptonemonthaftertheinstallationto
clearanysootfallswhichmayhaveoccurredduetothe
differenceincombustionbetweentheappliance andthe
openfire.
Whenusingthefireinsituationswherechildrenorinfirm
peoplearepresentpleaseuseafireguardtoprevent
accidents.Thefireguardshouldbemanufacturedin
accordancewithBS6539.
Thefollowingsmokelessfuelsaresuitableforuseonthis
appliance:

Theabovefuelsareallsuitableforuseinsmokecontrol
areas.Inotherareasthefollowingfuelsmayalsobeburnt:
HousecoalDoubles,Treblesorcobblesmayallbeburnt.Do
notusesingles,smallnuts,orcoaldust.Itisimportantthat
thelargesizecoalisused(i.e.Largerthan2or50mmin
size).
Thecoalshouldbedry.Whenburningbituminouscoala
littleextracareisneeded.PleaseTakenoteofthesection
“SpecialPointsForBurningCoal”
OnlyDrywellseasonedwoodshouldbeburntonthis
applianceasburningwetunseasonedwoodwillgiveriseto
heavytardeposits.Forthesamereasonhardwoodisbetter
thansoftwood.Burningwetunseasonedwoodwillalso
resultinconsiderablyreducedoutputs.Thewoodshouldbe
cutandsplitandthenlefttoseasoninawellventilateddry
placeforatleastoneyearpreferablytwoyearsBeforeuse.
Ensurethatthepeatiswelldriedbeforeuse.Burningwet
peatwillgiverisetoheavytardepositsandreduceoutputs.
Atfirstyoumayfindithelpfultotryseveralfuelstofindthe
mostsuitable.Ifyouareunabletoobtainthefuelyouwant,

YourCharnwoodisfittedwithamultifuelgratewhich
enablessolidfuel,woodandpeattobeburnedequally
effectively.
Thegratehastwopositions.Oneforsolidfuel,theother
forwoodandpeat.Wheninthesolidfuelpositionashcan
fallthroughthegrateandintotheashpan.Wheninthe
woodpositionashisabletobuilduponthegrateasis
necessaryforeffectivewoodorpeatburning.Movementof
thegratefromonepositiontotheotheriseffectedusing
thetoolsupplied.Thegrateisputintothewoodpositionby
movingthetoolupuntilthetoolisvertical.Thegrateisput
intothesolidfuel positionbymovingthetooldownuntilthe
toolishorizontal.
Ifamixtureofwoodandsolidfuel,orpeatandsolidfuel,is
tobeburntthenkeepthegrateinthesolidfuelposition.
Placesomepaperanddrykindlingwoodorfirelighterson
thegrateandcoverwithasmallamountoffuel.Turnthe
thermostatcontrolknobtomaximumsettingandlightthe
paperorfirelighters.Closethedoorsandallowthefireto
burnuntilthefueliswellignitedthenloadwithmorefuel
andadjustthethermostattotherequiredlevel.
Oninitiallighting,thefiremaysmokeandgiveoffanodour
asthesiliconpaintwithwhichthefireboxispaintedreacts
totheheat.Thisisnormalandwillceaseafterashorttime.
Inthemeantimetheroomshouldbewellventilated.
Beforerelightingthefire,riddle,removeanyclinkerfrom
thefirebedandemptytheashpan.
Therateofburningandhencetheoutputiscontrolledby
thecontrolknobonthelefthandsideoftheapplianceand
theairwashcontrolontheright,showninfig.1.Usethe
controlknobonthelefttocontroltheheatoutputfromthe
fireandkeeptheairwashcontrolslightlyopenmostofthe
timetokeeptheglassclean.Itwillnotbepossibletokeep
theglasscleaniftheashwashcontrolisfullyclosed,
particularlyafterrefuelling.Thenumberatthetopofthe
controlknobisthenumberatwhichitisset,thehigherthe
numberthefastertheburningrate.
Thefiremayberunwiththedoorsopenifdesiredalthough
thiswillresultinareductioninefficiencyandhenceoutput.
Themorereactivefuels,likehomefire,willburnbetter
whenthedoorsareleftopenthanfuelslikephurnaciteand
ancit.
Forsafetyreasons,ifthefireistobeleftunattendedwith
thedoorsleftopenthenuseasparkguardwhichcomplies
toBS3248.
Theashpanshouldbeemptiedregularlybeforeitcomestoo
full.Themostconvenienttimetoremovetheashisjust
beforeriddlingthefiresincetheashwillbeatit’scoolest.
Usetheashpan/riddlingtoolprovidedtoremovethe
ashpan,thefoldupcarryinghandleshouldbeheldwitha
heatproofglove.
Neverallowtheashtoaccumulateintheashpansothatit
comesincontactwiththeundersideofthegrateasthiswill
seriouslydamagethegratebars.Ensurethattheairinlet
damperisnotpreventedfromclosingbyspillagefuelorash.
Careshouldbetakentoensurethattheashiscoolbefore
emptyingitintoplasticlinersorbins.

Riddlingtwiceadayisusuallysufficient.
Thefireshouldberiddledwiththedoorsshut.Placethe
toolontheknobandrotatebetweenthehorizontalandthe
45°positionseveraltimesasshowninFig.2.
Caution:whenriddlingthegrateusingsolidfueldonotgo
beyondthe45°positionasthiscancausethegratetojam.
Ifjammingdoesoccurthenthefireshouldbeallowedto
burnforapproximatelyhalfanhourbeforeriddlingthe
grateagainasdescribedabove.
Toomuchriddlingcanresultinemptyingunburntfuelinto
theashpanandshouldthereforebeavoidedClinkershould
regularlyberemovedfromthefirebed.
Afterriddling,thegrateshouldbeputbackintothesolid
fuelorwoodpositionasrequired(thetoolshouldbe
horizontalforsolidfuelorverticalforwood).
Keepthefireboxwellfilled(thefuelmaybeslopedupfrom
thefrontfirebars),butnottoallowthefueltospilloverthe
topofthefrontfirebars.Takecare,especiallywhen
burningwood,thatthefueldoesnotprojectoverthefront
firebarsordamagetotheglassmaybecausedwhenthe
doorsareclosed.
Emptytheashpan,ifnecessary,andthenriddlethefireif
youareburningsolidfuel.Ifthefireisverylowthenitmay
benecessarytoaddalittlefuelandturnthethermostat
controluptomaximumforabriefperioduntilthefireis
burningbrightlybeforefillingwithfuel.Whenburning
wooduselargelogsovernightastheywillburnmoreslowly
thansmallones.
Someexperimentationmaybenecessarytofindthesetting
mostsuitablefortheparticularfuelusedandthedrawon
thechimney,butgenerallythethermostatshouldbeturned
downtotheminimumsetting.
Forovernightburningthefiredoorsmustbeclosed.
Torevivethefire,emptytheashpanifnecessary,riddle
(whenburningsolidfuel)andturnthethermostatcontrol
tomaximum.Whenthefireisburningwellloadmorefuel
asnecessaryandturnthecontrolknobtothedesired
setting.
Whenburningwooddonotriddlebutsimplysettheair
controlstomaximumuntilthefirepicksupandthenset
themattherequiredsettingandrefuelasnecessary.
Itisimportantthatthethroatplateandalltheappliance
fluewaysarekeptclean.Whenburningsmokelessfuelsthey
shouldbecleanedatleastmonthly.Whenburningother
fuelstheyshouldbecleanedonceaweek,andmore
frequentlyiffoundnecessary.
Thethroatplateandfluewaysmaybecleanedwithalow
firestillburning.Usethescrapertooltoscrapeanysooty
depositsoffthefrontoftheplateuntiltheydropintothe
fire.
Moresootwillbedepositedonthethroatplateandinthe
fluewaysiftheapplianceisrunatlowlevelsforlongperiods.
Ifthisisthecasethenmorefrequentcleaningwillbe
necessary.
Whenburninghousecoalkeeptheairwashcontrolatleast
sightlyopenallthetime(refertoFig.1.)
Whenloadingtheappliancetakecarenottosmotherthe
fire,insteadfillthefireboxintwostageswaitingforthe
flamestoappearabovethefire.
Afteraperiodofslumberingalwaysturntheaircontrolup
tomaximumandwaituntilflamesappearabovethefuel
bedbeforeopeningthedoors.
Burningcoalwillproducemoresootdepositsthanother
fuels,especiallyifthefireisrunatlowlevelsforalong
periods.Itisthereforevitaltocleanthethroatplate
regularly,weeklycleaningis recommended.
Theapplianceisfinishedinvitreousenamel.Tocleanthe
surfacessimplywipeoverwithadrycloth.Abrasivepads
andscouringcleanersmustnotbeusedasthesewill
damagethefinish.Careshouldbetakennottoknockthe
enamelwithhardobjectsasitwillchip.
Theglassinthedoorsisaspecialceramicglasswhichisable
towithstandhightemperatures.Beforecleaningtheglass
openthedoorsandallowthemtocool.Cleantheglass
usingadampclothandthenwipingoverwithadrycloth.
Anystubborndepositsontheglassmayberemovedwitha
proprietarystoveglasscleanerorceramichobcleaner.
Somedepositsontheglassmaybeburntoffsimplyby
runningthefireatafastrateforafewminutes.Donotuse
abrasivecleanersorpadsasthesecanscratchthesurface
whichwillweakentheglassandcauseprematurefailure.
Aerosolspraycleanersshouldnotbeusednearthe
appliancewhilstitisunderfire.

fumeemissiondoespersistthentakethefollowing
immediateactionsshouldbetaken:
a)Openthedoorsandwindowstoventilatetheroom.
b)Letthefireoutandsafelydisposeoffuelfromthe
appliance.
c)Checkforflueorchimneyblockage,andcleanif
required.
d)Donotattempttorelightfireuntilcauseoffumehas
beenidentified,ifnecessaryseekprofessionaladvise.

Ifthefireisgoingtobeoutofuseforalongperiod,(for
instanceinthesummer,)thentopreventcondensation,and
hencecorrosion,thethermostatshouldbeleftatthe
maximumsettingandthemaindoorsleftajar.Itisalso
advisabletosweepthechimneyandcleanoutthefire.
Sprayingtheinsideofthedoorsandfireboxwithalightoil,
suchasWD40,willalsohelptokeepallinternalparts
workingwell.
Forthefiretooperatecorrectlyitisimportantthatthe
doorsealsareingoodcondition.Checkthattheydonot
becomewornorfrayedandreplacethemwhennecessary.
Itisrecommendedthat thefireisservicedonceayearto
keepitinfirstclassworkingorder.Aftercleaningoutthe
fireboxthoroughly,checkthatallinternalpartsareingood
workingorder,replacinganypartsthatarebeginningto
showsignsofwear.Checkthatthedoorsealsareingood
conditionandthatthedoorssealcorrectly.Checkthe
operationofthethermostat,bothwhencoldandhot.A
servicingguide,TIS48.isavailableonrequest.
Thechimneyshouldbesweptatleasttwiceayear.Inmost
installationsitwillbepossibletosweepthechimneythrough
theappliance.
Firstremovethefrontfirebarsand thethroatplate.Then
sweepthechimneyensuringthatsootisremovedfromall
horizontalsurfacesaftersweeping.
Insituationswhereitisnotpossibletosweepthroughthe
appliancetheinstallerwillhaveprovidedalternativemeans,
suchasasootdoor.Aftersweepingthechimneythe
applianceflueoutletandthefluepipeconnectingthe
appliancemustbecleanedwithafluebrush.
Aftercleaninganysootfromwithinthefire,replacethe
throatplateandthefrontfirebars.
Differenttypesofsweep’sbrushesareavailabletosuit
differentflueways.Forstandardbrickchimneysawire
centresweep’sbrushfittedwithaguidewheelis
recommended.Forprefabricatedinsulatedchimneysthe
manufacturersinstructionswithregardtosweepingshould
beconsulted.
Checkthat:
a)theairinletisnotobstructedinanyway,
b)chimneysandfluewaysareclear,
c)asuitablefuelisbeingused,
d)thereisanadequateairsupplyintotheroom,
e)anextractorfanisnotfittedinthesameroomasthefire.
Checkthat:
a)thedoorsaretightlyclosed,
b)thethermostatknobisturneddowntotheminimum
settingandtheairwashisclosed,
c)theairinletdamperisclosed(atthebottomleftof the
appliance,seeFig.1.)andthatitisnotpreventedfrom
closingcompletelybyapieceofash,
d)asuitablefuelisbeingused,
e)thedoorsealsareingoodcondition.
Ifthefireisover-firingitwillcauseprematurefailureofthe
internalfireparts.Overfiringisoccurringwhenanyinternal
partsofthefirebegintoglowred.Topreventover-firing
ensurethat:
a)thedoorsealsarekeptingoodcondition,andthatthe
doorsaresealingcorrectly,
b)thethermostatonthefireisworkingcorrectly,
c)asuitablefuelisbeingused.
Themostcommoncauseoffumeemissionisfluewayor
chimneyblockage.Foryouownsafetythesemustbekept
clean.
Ifaboilerisfitteddonotlightthefireifthereisany
possibilitythatanypartsofthesystemmaybefrozen.
Ifthechimneyisthoroughlyandregularlyswept,chimney
firesshouldnotoccur.However,ifachimneyfiredoes
occurthenturnthecontrolknobtotheminimumsetting
(seeFig.1),andtightlyclosethedoorsoftheappliance.
Thisshouldcausethechimneyfiretogooutinwhichcase
thecontrolshouldbekeptattheminimumsettinguntilthe
fireintheappliancehasgoneout.Thechimneyand
fluewaysshouldthenbecleaned.Ifthechimneyfiredoes
notgooutwhentheaboveactionistakenthenthefire
brigadeshouldbecalledimmediately.
Afterachimneyfirethechimneyshouldbecarefully
examinedforanydamage.Expertadviseshouldbesoughtif
necessary.
Differencesinchimneydraughtsmeanthatthebestsetting
oftheaircontrolswillvaryfordifferentinstallations.A
certainamountofexperimentationmayberequired,
howeverthefollowingpointsshouldbenotedandwitha
littlecareshouldenabletheglasstobekeptcleaninmost
situations:
a)Theairwashreliesonasupplyofheatedairtokeepthe

glassclean,therefore,whenlightingthestoveallowthe
firebedtobecomewellestablishedbeforeturningthe
thermostatdown.Itmaysometimesbebeneficialtoalso
keepthedoorsslightlyajarwhilstthefirebecomes
established.Thiscanalsoapplywhenre-fuelling.
b)Whenre-fuellingkeepthefuelbackalittlefromthefront
firebars,donottrytofittoomuchfuelintothefirebox.
c)Nevercompletelyclsetheairwashcontrol-asaguideit
shouldbeatleastaquarteropen.
d)Wetwoodorlogsoverhangingthefrontfirebarswill
causetheglasstoblacken.
Itisalwaysmoredifficultto keeptheglasscleanwhen
runningthestoveveryslowlyforlongperiods.
Ifblackeningoftheglassstilloccurscheckthatallflue
connectionsarewellsealed.Itisalsoimportantthatthe
chimneydrawissufficientandthatitisnotaffectedby
down-draught.Whenthechimneyiswarmadraught
readingofatleast2.5mm(0.10inches)watergaugeshould
beobtained.

Sometypesoffirecementarecausticandshouldnotbe
allowedtocomeintocontactwiththeskin.Incaseof
contactwashwithplentyofwater.
Ifthereisapossibilityofdisturbinganyasbestosinthe
courseofinstallationthenpleaseuseappropriate
equipment.
Theremustnotbeanextractorfaninthesameroomasthe
applianceasthiscancausetheappliancetoemitfumesinto
theroom.
Theremustbeanadequateairsupplytotheroominwhich
theapplianceisinstalledtotallingatleast100squarecm.(16
squareinches)toprovidecombustionair.Thisisparticularly
necessaryiftheroomisdoubleglazed.
Inadditiontotheseinstructionstherequirementsof
BS:8303andBS:6461Pt1&2;1984mustbefulfilled.Local
AuthorityBye-lawsandBuildingRegulationsregardingthe
installationofSolidFuelburningappliances,fluesand
chimneymustbeobserved.
TheratedoutputfortheSLX20is5.4kW(18500btu/h)to
theroom.
Thisistheoutputobtainedburningsmokelessfuelwiththe
doorsclosedovera4hourlyre-fuelinginterval.
Thereisanoptionaladd-indomestichotwaterboiler
availablewithanoutputof2.0kW(6800btu/h).Ifthisis
fittedthentheoutputtotheroomwillbereducedbya
correspondingamount.
Inorderfortheappliancetoperformsatisfactorilythe
chimneyheightmustnotbelessthan4metresmeasured
fromtheoutletofthefiretothetopofthechimney.The
chimneyshouldpreferablybe175mm(7inches)or200mm
(8inches)internaldiameterorsquarewithsidesof175mm
or200mminternallyand
Ifanexistingchimneyistobeuseditmustbesweptand
checked,itmustbeingoodcondition,freefromcracksand
blockages,andshould nothaveaexcessivecrosssectional
area(e.g.Greaterthan250mmx250mm).Ifyoufindthat
thechimneyisinpoorconditionthenexpertadviceshould
besoughtregardingthenecessityofhavingthechimney
lined.Ifitfoundnecessarytolinethechimneythenalining
suitableforSolidFuelmustbeused.
Ifthereisnoexistingchimneythenaprefabricatedblock
chimneyoratwinwalledinsulatedstainlesssteelflueto
BS:4543canbeusedeitherinternallyorexternally.These
chimneysmustbefittedinaccordancewiththe
manufacturersinstructionsandBuildingRegulations.
Singlewall fluepipeissuitableforconnectingtheappliance
tothechimneybutisnotsuitableforusingforthecomplete
chimney.
Ifitisfoundthereisexcessivedrawinthechimneythena
draughtstabilisershouldbefitted.
Theappliancemustbeinstalledonafireproofhearthand
mustbesituatedatleast300mm(12inches)fromany
combustiblematerial.Thepositioningoftheapplianceand
thesizeoftheheartharegovernedbybuildingregulations
forClass1appliances.Thesebuildingregulationsstatethat
thehearthmustextendinfrontoftheappliancebyatleast
300mm(12inches)andtothesidesbyatleast150mm(6
inches).Ifindoubtastothepositioningoftheappliance
expertadviseshouldbesoughteitherfromthesupplieror
thelocalbuildinginspector.
Thefireplacemustallowgoodcirculationofairaroundthe
appliance,especiallyaboveit,toensurethatmaximumheat
istransferredtotheroomandalsotopreventthefireplace
overheating.Agapof150mm(6inches)eachsideand
300mm(12inches)abovetheapplianceshouldgive
sufficientaircirculation.Ifawoodenmantelpiece,beamor
surroundisusedinthefireplaceitshouldbeaminimumof
460mm(18inches),andpreferably600mm(24inches)
abovetheappliance.Insomesituationsitmaybenecessary
toshieldthebeamormantelpiecetoprotectit.
Beforefittingtheapplianceintoanexistingfireplaceremove
thefirebackandanyloosein-fillmaterial.
Thesurroundandopeningfortheappliancemustconform
withFigs.3.Theflatareaaroundtheopeningmustbea
minimumof750mmwideand660mmhigh.Ensurethatthe
hearthandthebaseintheopeningareflat,level,andat

tobefitteditwillalsobenecessarytomakeaholeinthe
sideofthechimneybreasttogiveaccessforthepipework.
Insomecasesitmaybenecessarytoplacetheconnecting
fluepipeinthechimneybeforefittingthefireintothe
fireplace.

theappliance.Fittheapplianceintotheopeningensuring
thatitiscentralandthatagoodsealismadebetweenthe
sealingflangeandthefaceofthe surround.
Removeanyexcessfirecementfromaroundthesealing
flange.
Theapplianceshouldbescrewedtothehearththroughthe
holesatthebaseofthesealingflange.
Theoptionaladd-inboilerwhichmaybefittedinthe
appliancehasanoutputsufficientfordomestichotwater
heating.Iftheboilerisfittedthentheroomheatingwillbe
reduced.
Thehotwatersystemshouldbeagravitycircuitandmust
becorrectlyventedasshowninFig.4.
Adoublefeedindirecthotwaterstoragecylinderto
BS:1566part1shouldbeusedinmostsituations,unlessthe
applianceistobefittedinasoftwater areainwhichcasea
directhotwatercylindermaybeusedprovidedthatthe
boilerisstainlesssteel.
Allpipeworkintheprimarycircuitmustbe28mmdiameter
andtheflowpipemustrisecontinuouslyfromtheboilerto
theopenvent.
Ifanindirectcylinderisusedthentheprimarycircuitshould
befilledwithasuitableinhibitortopreventthebuildupof
scaleandcorrosion.
Theboilerreplacestherearfirebrickandisreversibleso
thatthe1B.S.P.maletappingsmaycomeoneithertheleft
ortherighthandsideoftheboiler.
Theboilertappingsprotrudefromthesidesoftheappliance
anditwillthereforebenecessarytofittheboilerintothe
applianceafterpositioningtheapplianceinthefireplaceif
thefiresurroundisalreadyfitted.
Beforefittingtheboiler,removethefrontfirebars,theside
andbackfireplatesandthefirebricks.Knockouttheknock-
outsfortheboilertappingsontheappropriatesideofthe
firebox.
Removethebacknutsandfibrewashersfromtheboiler
tappingsandfittheboilerintotheappliance.Placethefibre
washersoverthetappingsontheoutsideoftheappliance
andfitthebacknuts,ensuringthattheboilerisheldtightly
againsttherearinsidefaceoftheapplianceandthatthetop
edgeoftheboilerislevelorrunsuphilltotheflowtapping.
Whenre-fittingthefirebricks,notethattheshortside
firebricksuppliedwiththeboilermustbefittedonthesame
sideastheboilertappings.Oneoftheoriginalsidebricksis
fittedontheotherside,andtherearbrickisdiscarded.The
firebricksareheldinpositionbytheretainingbrackets.

andcheckforleaks.

No.010/AV12.Pleasenotethatthisitemisordered
separatelyfromtheappliance.Thelegsoftheelbowmaybe
cutonsitetosuitthechimney.Alsonotethatthelegsofthe
elbowaredifferentlengthstoenablesomesituationstobe
cateredforbyturningtheelbowaround.
Theendofthefluepipemustlineupwiththecentre-lineof
thechimney,andmustalsoextendtothepointwherethe
chimneynarrowstoitsfinalsize.Anylargevoidsmustbe
filledandflaunchedtothefluepipetoensurethatallsoot
depositscanbeclearedwhentheapplianceisswept,andto
preventproblemswiththeoperationoftheappliance.
Ensurethatthefluepipeisnotobstructedorrestrictedin
anywayandthatalljointsarewellsealed.
Beforeinfillingcoverthefrontoftheappliancetoprotectit.
Ensurethatthefluepipeiscentralandthenfillthespace
betweenthebodyoftheapplianceandthestructural
brickworkwithvermiculite(e.g.Micafilorsimilar)concrete.
Ensurethattherearenoairpockets.Therecommended
mixissixvolumesofvermiculitetoonevolumeofportland
cementthroughlymixedtogether.Enoughwatershouldbe
addedsothatnomorethanoneortwodropsofwaterare
releasedwhenahandfulofmixtureissqueezed.
Afterfillingwithvermiculiteflaunchthetopoftheflue
connectorpipetothechimneywithlimemortar.Ensure
thatthefluepipeiswellsealedtothechimney.
Makegoodhole(s)inthechimneybreastmakingsurethatit
iscompletelyairtight.Atypicalinstallationisshowninfig.5.
Inmostinstallationsitwillbepossibletosweepthechimney
throughtheappliance.Ifthisisnotpossiblethensome
alternativemeans(suchasasootdoor)mustbeprovided.
Thefreeinsetmethodofinstallationmaybeusedinsteadof
infilling.Detailsareavailableonrequest.
Beforelightingthefirecheckthecoldsettingdistanceofthe
thermostat.
Withthecontrolknobattheminimumsettingtheflap
shouldbejustclosedasshowninFig.6.Toadjustthe
distanceslackenthelockingnutandadjustasnecessary.
Whensetcorrectlyre-tightenthelockingnut.Ensurethat
theflapopensandclosesfreelyastheknobisturned.

inpositionandsittingcorrectly.
3.Thethroatplatemustbefittedintheroofofthe
appliance.
Oncompletionoftheinstallationandafterallowingtimefor
thefirecementandmortartodryout,thefireshouldbelit
andcheckedtoensurethatthesmokeandfumesaretaken
fromtheapplianceupthechimneyandemittedsafely.Also
checkalljointsandseals.
