SAVE THIS MANUAL
You will need this manual for the safety warnings and precautions, assembly,
operating, inspection, maintenance, and cleaning procedures, parts list and as-
sembly diagram. Keep your invoice with this manual. Write the invoice number
on the inside of the front cover. Keep this manual and invoice in a safe and dry
place for future reference.
GENERAL SAFETY WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN AND DRY. Cluttered, damp or wet work areas
invite injuries.
2. MAINTAIN A SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT. Keep work area well lit. Make
sure there is adequate surrounding work space.
3. KEEP CHILDREN AWAY FROM WORK AREA. Do not allow children to handle
this product.
4. STORE IDLE EQUIPMENT. When not in use, tools and equipment should be
stored in a dry location to inhibit rust. Always lock up tools and equipment and
keep out of reach of children.
5. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IF UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR
DRUGS. Read warning labels on prescriptions to determine if your judgment or
reflexes are impaired while taking drugs. If there is any doubt, do not attempt to
use this product.
6. INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS MUST FOLLOW OSHA REQUIREMENTS.
7. DO NOT OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times to prevent
tripping, falling, back injury, etcetera.

8. STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing at all times. Use common sense. Do
not use this product when you are tired or distracted from the job at hand.
9. CHECK FOR DAMAGED PARTS. Before using this product, carefully check that
it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for damaged
parts and any other conditions that may affect the operation of this product.
Replace or repair damaged or worn parts immediately.
10. REPLACEMENT PARTS AND ACCESSORIES. When servicing, use only
identical replacement parts. Only use accessories intended for use with this
product.
11. MAINTAIN THIS PRODUCT WITH CARE. Keep this equipment clean and dry
for better and safer performance.
12. MAINTENANCE: For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed
regularly by a qualified technician.
13. USE THE RIGHT PRODUCT FOR THE RIGHT JOB. There are certain applica-
tions for which this product was designed. Do not use small equipment, tools or
attachments to do the work of larger industrial equipment, tools or attachments.
Do not use this product for a purpose for which it was not intended.
SPECIFIC PRODUCT WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS
1. USE EYE PROTECTION. Wear ANSI approved safety impact goggles
with
the
Welding Helmet when using this product. ANSI approved safety impact goggles
are available from Harbor Freight Tools. Make sure the #10 Shade Lens (part #3)
is properly attached to the Welding Helmet and in proper working order prior to
using this product.
2. THIS WELDING HELMET INCLUDES A #10 SHADE LENS (part #3). Before
welding or cutting, make sure the #10 Shade Lens offers adequate eye protection
for the type of welding or cutting job you intend to perform.
3. DRESS SAFELY. In addition to wearing ANSI approved safety impact goggles
and the #10 Shade Lens (part #3) with the Welding Helmet, leather leggings, fire
resistant shoes or boots should be worn when working with this product. Do not
wear pants with cuffs, shirts with open pockets, or any clothing that can catch
and hold molten metal or sparks. Keep clothing free of grease, oil, solvents, or
any flammable substances. Wear dry, insulating gloves and clothing. Wear an
approved head covering to protect the head and neck. Use aprons, cape-sleeves,
shoulder covers, and bibs designed and approved for welding and cutting proce-
dures. When welding or cutting overhead or in confined spaces, wear flame
resistant ear plugs or ear muffs to keep sparks out of ears.

4. AVOID OVEREXPOSURE TO FUMES AND GASES. Many welding cutting
processes produce fumes and gases which may cause personal injury. Do not
breathe the fumes and gases. Use enough ventilation or exhaust at the arc to
keep fumes and gases from your breathing zone and general working area.
5. AVOID BURNS. Make sure to wear the proper footwear, clothing, and safety
gear mentioned in Steps #1 and 2 above. Remember, always remove any com-
bustibles, such as matches and butane lighters from your pockets before per-
forming any welding or cutting operations. Do not touch hot equipment, such as
electrode holders, gun tips, and nozzle which can cause burns.
6. AVOID FIRES. Keep a fully charged fire extinguisher nearby. Remove any
combustible materials away from work area.
7. PREVENT ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Properly install and ground all equipment
according to the equipment instruction manual, and national, state, and local
codes. Do not touch live electrical parts. The input power circuit and machine
internal circuits are also electrically energized when the power is on. When wire
welding, the wire, wire reel, drive rolls, and all other metal parts touching the wire
are electrically energized. Insulate yourself from the workpiece, and ground
yourself by wearing rubber sole shoes/boots or standing on a dry insulated plat-
form or mat.
8. KNOW YOUR EQUIPMENT. Read and understand all the information and safety
warnings contained in the instruction manual of the welding equipment being
used.
9. THE PROTECTION COVER IN THE LENS HOLDER (part #2) AND #10
SHADE LENS (part #3) ARE BREAKABLE. The protection cover in the Lens
Holder and the #10 Shade Lens will not protect against some impact hazards,
such as fragmenting grinding wheel, abrasive disc fragments, or corrosive liquids.
Additional guards or other devices must be used where these hazards exist.
10. WARNING: This product, when used for welding and similar applications, con-
tains or produces a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer
and birth defects (or other reproductive harm).

UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure all parts shown on the Parts List and Assembly
Diagram (page 6) are included. If any parts are missing or broken, please call Harbor
Freight Tools at the number shown on the cover of this manual as soon as possible.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: For additional references to the parts listed below, refer to the Parts List
and Assembly Diagram on page 6 of this manual.
Remove the protective film from both sides of the new cover lens.
1.
To assemble the Headband
(part #4) into the Helmet Shell (part #1), insert the
two Swivel Mounts (part #8) through the holes in the side of the Headband. (See
Assy. Diagram.)
2. Slide the two Side Swivels (part #10) onto the two Swivel Mounts (part #8).
3. Place the Headband (part #4) inside the Helmet Shell (part #1). Next, insert the
two Side Screws (part #9) through the two Side Swivels (part #10), the two
Swivel Mounts (part #8), and the two holes located in the sides of the Helmet
Shell.
4. Screw the two Side Knobs (part #6) onto the two Side Screws (part #9).
5. Then, insert the two Retainer Plugs (part #7) through the two holes located in the
sides of the Helmet Shell (part #1) and through the two holes located in the sides
of the Headband (part #4).

To assemble the #10 Shade Lens
(part #3) into the Lens Holder (part #2), raise
the protective cover of the Lens Holder (part #2).
7. Next, place the Lens Clip (part #5) in the Lens Holder (part #2). Then, insert the
#10 Shade Lens (part #3) in the Lens Holder.
8. WARNING: DURING THE WELDING OR CUTTING OPERATION THE LENS
HOLDER (part #2), WITH ATTACHED #10 SHADE LENS (part #3), MUST
ALWAYS BE IN THE DOWN POSITION.
INSPECTION, MAINTENANCE, AND CLEANING
1. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Welding Helmet. Check for
loose parts, misalignment, binding of moving parts, broken parts, and any other
condition that may affect its safe operation. If a malfunction of any parts occur,
discontinue using the Welding Helmet immediately and have the problem cor-
rected before further use. Do not use damaged equipment.

2. Do not use solvents to wipe off the Welding Helmet, as damage may result. If
necessary, wipe with a damp cloth. You may use a mild detergent.
3. When storing, keep the Welding Helmet in a box or covered with a cloth cover.
