OPERATION
MOWER HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
Thecuttingheightrangeisapproximately1-1/2to4-1/2
inches.Theheightsaremeasuredfromthegroundto
thebladetipwiththeengineshutoff.Theaveragelawn
shouldbecuttoapproximately2-1/2inchesduringthe
coolseasonandtoover3inchesduringhotmonths.The
particularheightmayvarydependingonsoilconditions,
typeofgrassandheightofgrassbeingmowed.For
healthierandbetterlookinglawns,mowoftenandafter
moderategrowth.Forbestcuttingperformance,grass
over6inchesinheightshouldbemowedtwice.Makethe
rstcutrelativelyhigh,thesecondtothedesiredheight.
TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT
• Removehaircotterpinfromlocatingpin.(SeeFig.6)
• Applyliftpressuretoheightadjustmentliftlever.
• Remove the locating pin from the height adjustment
strap.
• MoveheightadjustmentLiftLeverupordowntoalign
itwiththedesiredholeintheheightadjustmentstrap.
• Reassemblelocatingpinintotheheightadjustmentstrap
and secure with hair cotter pin.
• Makesurethatbothsideheightadjustmentstrapsare
adjustedtothesameheight.
FRONT TO BACK RAKE ADJUSTMENT
Toobtainthebestcuttingresultsandtoreduceengine
load,themowerhousingshouldbeadjustedsothatthe
frontisapproximately1/2"to1"lowerthantherear.To
checkfronttobackadjustment,measurefromthebottom
edgeofthedecktothegroundatbothfrontandrearof
the deck.
TO ADJUST MOWER FROM FRONT TO BACK
• Removetwohaircotterpinsfromtwoclevispinsinthe
towbaradjustment.(SeeFig.6)
• Removetwoclevispinsfromtowbaradjustment.
• Raiseorlowerthetowbartoobtaintheproperfrontto
backadjustment.
• Reassembletwoclevispinstotowbaradjustmentand
secure with two hair cotter pins.
FRONT GAUGE WHEEL ADJUSTMENT
Theheightofthefrontgaugewheelsisadjustableto
helppreventthefrontcornersofthemowerfromgouging
intothesoilwhenmowingonuneventerrain.Thefactory
settingofthewheels(highestofthreepositions)is
adequateformostlawnconditions.Ifthewheelsare
lowered,theymustclearthegroundwhenthemoweris
setatthedesiredcuttingheightwithfronttobackrake.
TO ADJUST FRONT GAUGE WHEELS
• Removelocknutandwasherfrombolt.
• Movegaugewheelwithbolttodesiredheightsetting.
• Reassemblelocknutandwasherontobolt.
• Adjustjamnutifwheelistootightorhasendplay.

ANDREMOVESPARKPLUGWIREFROM
SPARKPLUGBEFOREMAKINGANY
ADJUSTMENTSTOTHEMOWER.
