INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
CONDENSER TUMBLE DRYER
MODEL – B96M8W – 8kg
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE
INSTRUCTIONS THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING
THIS APPLIANCE. KEEP THEM IN A SAFE PLACE FOR
FUTURE REFERENCE.
IMPORTANT USER INFORMATION
This appliance is intended for NORMAL DOMESTIC
USE ONLY.
Please note it is not recommended that the dryer is placed
directly next to ovens, cookers or other heating appliances
as the performance of the dryer may be affected.
Any electrical work required to install the appliance
should be carried out by a qualified person.
The tumble dryer is not to be used if industrial chemicals
have been used for cleaning.
It is important to clean the lint filter after each drying
cycle and the heat exchanger every month or the
restrictions to airflow will extend drying times and could
cause the safety cut-out to trip.
DO NOT allow lint to accumulate around the tumble
dryer - risk of fire
Adequate ventilation has to be provided to avoid the back
flow of gases into the room from appliances burning other
fuels, including open fires.
DO NOT dry unwashed items in the tumble dryer.
Items that have been soiled with substances such as
cooking oil, acetone, alcohol, petrol, kerosene, spot
removers, turpentine, waxes and wax removers should be
washed in hot water with an extra amount of detergent
before being dried in the tumble dryer.
Items such as foam rubber (latex foam), shower caps,
waterproof textiles, rubber-backed articles and clothes or
pillows fitted with foam rubber pads should not be dried in
the tumble dryer.
Fabric softeners, or similar products, should be used as
specified by the fabric softener instructions.
The final part of a tumble dryer cycle occurs without heat
(cool down cycle) to ensure that the items are left at a
temperature that ensures that the items will not be
damaged.
Remove all objects from pockets such as lighters and
matches.
WARNING: Never stop a tumble dryer before the end of
a drying cycle unless all items are quickly removed and
spread out so that heat is dissipated.
A carpet must not obstruct the ventilation openings in the
base of the dryer.
Exhaust air must not be discharged into a flue which is
used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas or
other fuels.
Do not stack the tumble dryer on top of other appliances.
electricity supply during long periods of inactivity (i.e.
weekends, holidays etc.)
The special mains cable and plug assembly must only be
replaced with a genuine part from the manufacturer or our
appointed service agent.
It is important to clean fluff from the window of the dryer
and around the door seal after each drying cycle. Failure to
do so could result in water leaking.
DO NOT use a two-way adaptor, or extension lead. The
dryer must be connected to its own socket.
DO NOT block the air inlets at the front, base or rear of
your dryer.
DO NOT exceed the recommended maximum load.
DO NOT place articles in the dryer if anything other than
a water solution has been used in the cleaning process.
DO NOT attempt to dry dripping wet articles.
DO NOT use the tumble dryer if you suspect that it is
damaged in any way. Under no circumstances should you
attempt to repair the appliance yourself. Repairs carried
out by inexperienced persons may cause serious injury.
Consult your local appointed service engineer and insist
on genuine spare parts.
DO NOT tumble dry woollen or wool mixture articles
unless the article is labelled as being suitable .This should
avoid shrinkage.
Place delicate articles e.g. tights, scarves, inside a
pillowcase.
To avoid the need to iron easycare polyester/cotton items
it is better to only dry small loads (i.e. half fill drum). It is
better to dry small and large articles together.
DO NOT overload the dryer or dry large bulky items such
as duvets or sleeping bags as it is important that the
airflow through the dryer is not obstructed.
To avoid uneven drying, it is recommended to remove
large items (e.g. duvet covers) part way through the drying
cycle and redistribute the load.
Your appliance is fitted with a sensing system that will
periodically adjust the time remaining displayed
dependant on the moisture remaining in the load. Please
note that the drying time quoted by the appliance at the
start of the drying cycle will default to the time taken to
dry the maximum load weight for that particular
programme.
Should the final dryness of the load for a particular
programme not be to your satisfaction, please select either
a damper or drier setting.
THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED
This label, positioned on the rear of your dryer, indicates the surface is hot
when in operation – avoid touching
CAUTION
HOT SURFACE
This appliance is marked according to the European Directive 2012/19/EU on Waste Electrical and
Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
At end of life this product should be recycled and not disposed in household waste. Contact your
retailer, council or local authority for further information.
DRAINAGE OPTIONS
Your new appliance as delivered is setup such that the condensed water generated during drying is pumped into the
water bottle. The bottle will then require emptying at the end of every drying cycle.
Alternatively, the appliance can be converted to allow the condensed water to be pumped to your household waste
pipe. Connecting your dryer to a household waste pipe will mean you will not need to empty the water bottle:
1 - Remove the integral drain hose from the connector. 2 - Attach the condensing drain hose.
3 - Put the hose holder onto a wash basin, sink or waste pipe. Please note that 200cm is the maximum length
without the hose holder. If the hose holder is used, the overall length of extension is reduced to 160cm.
4 - To return the dryer to pump the condensed water into the water bottle, simply remove the condensing drain
hose and re-attach the integral drain hose as per points 1 and 2 above.
DRYER INSTALLATION
Position the tumble dryer so that the plug remains accessible after installation. Do not block the vents at the front,
rear or base of the dryer, as this will impair the working of the machine. This appliance must not be installed
behind a lockable door, a sliding door or a door with hinges on the opposite side to that of the tumble dryer.
The tumble dryer requires a minimum width of 600mm in order to be installed. If a waste pipe and trap are behind
the appliance, they must not obstruct the air inlet at the back of the dryer.
If the waste pipe is used by the dryer and a washing machine then its diameter must be large enough to contain
both hoses - 1.5" bore (38mm) minimum.
If the floor is uneven the machine will need to be leveled by adjusting the feet of the machine. These can be twisted
to raise and lower the appliance.
CAUTION: Check that the heat exchanger is installed and the exchanger cover is locked in place.
FILTER INSTALLATION
LOAD PREPARATION
Check care labels inside the garments to ensure that they are suitable for the appliance:
NEVER SWITCH THE DRYER OFF AND LEAVE A HOT LOAD IN THE DRUM DUE TO THE RISK
OF FIRE.
Push the filter into its operating position as shown in the diagram. Ensure
that the arrow on the top of the filter is pointing towards you. Remove any
dust by wiping the drum and door with a damp cloth. Any initial smell of
burning will be caused by dust on the heater and will quickly disappear.
Suitable for tumble drying
Tumble dry using full heat
Tumble dry using half heat
Do not tumble dry
CLEANING THE FILTER
ALWAYS CLEAN THE FILTER AFTER EACH USE. Failure to do so could cause the safety cut-out to
operate.
Spares can be ordered from www.whiteknightrange.co.uk/whiteknight/accessories-WK.html or by calling 01422
203963.
EMPTYING THE WATER BOTTLE
Pull the filter upwards and away from the
appliance.
Open the filter by pulling apart in the centre
and then gently pressing down to release the
catches at the edges. Remove any threads or
fluff by hand or with a soft brush.
Shut the filter and place back inside the
appliance ensuring the arrow is pointing
towards you.
Wash the filter occasionally in detergent
solution using a soft brush to remove small
particles. Ensure that the filter is fully dry
before next use.
If your filter becomes damaged, replace it to
ensure no damage is caused to the dryer.
Pull the bottle out from the dryer and empty at the end of the
drying cycle.
WARNING: Ensure that the bottle is kept level and the rear
supported as it is removed from the dryer in order to prevent
water leaking from the water in-feed hole at the rear of the bottle.
Replace the bottle ensuring that it is pushed all the way in.
If the dryer is connected to a drain there is no need to empty the
bottle but it must be correctly fitted to the machine.
WARNING: Empty the water container after each use. The
drying cycle will pause and the icon will flash if the bottle is
full during the drying process. After the bottle has been emptied,
the dryer can be restarted by pressing the Start/Pause button.
WARNING: Do not drink the condensed water
After emptying, re-insert the bottle into the dryer
CLEANING THE HEAT EXCHANGER
IMPORTANT:
- Ensure all lint and fluff is removed from around the seals before closing or water may leak.
- The dryer may leak if the Heat Exchanger is not correctly re-installed and locked in place.
The Heat Exchanger and ducting should be cleaned monthly or more
frequently if the dryer is in constant use.
CAUTION: For maximum efficiency, the plates are made from very thin
aluminum and are easily damaged. At all times, handle the Heat Exchanger
carefully and avoid crushing the plates. Do not try to poke anything between
the plates or use a hard object or tool for cleaning.
REMOVING THE HEAT EXCHANGER
- Open the maintenance cover by pressing down on the two catches
- Twist both locking levers towards each other
- Remove the Heat Exchanger cover
- Pull out the Heat Exchanger
- Clean and drain the Heat Exchanger thoroughly by using a shower
nozzle or similar to remove any lint from inside the plates. Leave to
drain in a vertical orientation.
- Clean the seals
- Carefully push the Heat Exchanger back into the dryer, ensuring the
handle is at the bottom
- Lock the exchanger cover back in place by twisting the locking levers
- Close the maintenance cover until it locks into position
Whilst the Heat Exchanger is removed, clean as much fluff as possible from
inside the ducting by reaching into the dryer. In particular, keep the passage
from the fan clear (on the right hand side of the Heat Exchanger duct).
NOTE: The Heat Exchanger will discolour through use.
APPLIANCE FEATURES AND PROGRAMME OPTIONS
Programme selectiononce the On/Off button has been pressed, rotate the programme knob to select the

programmes) and Low Heat (not available on Refresh, Quick, Cool or Warm tumble programmes) can also be
selected. Once you have set the drying cycle, press the Start/Pause button to begin the drying cycle.
End of drying cycle – the buzzer will sound at the end of the drying cycle indicating that the cycle is complete.
Unload the laundry from the appliance and press the On/Off button to turn off the power. Unplug the power cable.
Moisture Sensor - this function automatically senses the moisture of clothes, and will automatically adjust the
drying time according to the weight of clothes put in the dryer. This function will automatically activate during the
drying procedure except the “Warm” “Cool” and “Refresh” programmes.
Variable Time programme – this can be set from 20 minutes to 60 minutes drying time by pressing the “Time”
button. Please note that this is available on the Warm Tumble programme only.
Delay Start - all programmes can be used in conjunction with the Delay Start feature. This function is used to
delay the start of the drying cycle up to a maximum of 24 hours. Pressing the “Delay” button once increases the
delay time by one hour. Pressing and holding the “Delay” button will scroll the display.
Once you have selected the delay time that you require, press the Start/Pause button and the “DELAY” arrow
symbol will flash. The delay time selected will appear on the main display. After 1 minute, the delay display will
turn off and the main display will show “-“. During the delay period, the delay button can be pressed which will
then show the programme selected and then the delay time remaining. Pressing the time button during the delay
period will show you the delay time remaining only. When the delay period is complete, the drying cycle selected
will automatically start. To cancel delay, turn the appliance off and on.
Child safety lock - this machine incorporates a child safety lock, which can prevent children from activating the
appliance’s functions. Whilst the dryer is operating, press and hold the Anticrease and Low Heat buttons at the
same time for 3 seconds to activate the child lock function. When the child lock function is activated, the display
will light the “Child Lock” icon and pressing a button will not affect the dryer except the On/Off button. To release
the child lock function, press and hold the Anticrease and Low Heat buttons at the same time for 3 seconds.
Anticrease – when selected, the indicator above the Anticrease button will light and the drum will intermittently
rotate at the end of the drying cycle in order to prevent creasing. Opening the door, pressing off or disconnecting
from the mains will stop this function. The appliance has an automatic 30 minute Anticrease period at the end of
the drying cycle. If Anticrease is selected, this period will increase to 120 minutes.
Low Heat – when Low Heat is selected (not available on Refresh, Cool or Warm Tumble programmes), the
indicator above the Low Heat button will light, 10 minutes will be added to the initial drying time and the dryer
will reduce the heat to protect more sensitive materials.
