Mounting and connecting the remote control gear
Mount
the fixture first in its final location. A number of mounting brackets are available from your dealer. We
recommend the use of a secondary suspension cable which is also available from your dealer in both black and
galvanised finish.
The Source Four CDM
is supplied with a 2m high voltage flex that must be connected to the remote encapsulated
control gear. If for any reason another control gear package is used, it must be of a type approved by Philips for use
with the CDM-T mastercolour lamp and must mee
t all local electrical codes. If in doubt, please contact Enliten for
advice.
Do not extend the luminaire flex
- it is a special high voltage cable type and the maximum permitted distance
between the fixture and remote encapsulated gear is 2m/6ft*
If
you must place the control gear more than 2m from the fixture, you should contact your dealer and upgrade the
control gear package to a 20m long range IP65 control gear package.
You should now securely mount the remote control gear in a suitable location
such that the luminaire flex will easily
reach the output terminals. The location must be ventilated to ensure that the ambient temperature does not rise
above 50°C.
You may now connect the luminaire to the control gear package
The installation and co
nnection of a Source Four CDM system to a mains supply should be carried out by a competent
electrician and all work should be carried out to local regulatory standards.
The connections are as follows;
Fixture to ballast
HT/Live Brown with white inner insulation
Neutral Blue with white inner insulation
Earth/Ground Green/Yellow
The Source Four CDM is a Class II (earthed) fixture and must be earthed/grounded even when connected to a Class I
(double insulated) control gear package.

Installing the lamp
Ensure that the power is isolated. Using the hex key provided, release the lampholder assembly and remove.
Without touching the glass envelope, push the lamp fully into the lampsocket ensuring that the reta
place.
Replace the lampholder assembly and tighten with the hex key.
Focussing the luminaire
Pull all of the shutter blades outwards to produce a circular beam. The beam may be focussed by releasing the focus
screw on the underside of the lens barrel and sliding the barrel backwards or forwards.
The beam may be shaped or masked by adjusting the shutter blades.
either the gobo slot or the iris slot.
Note: The correct gobo holder must be used. If one has not been supplied, contact your dealer for details.
If using the iris slot for either an Iris diaphragm or a gobo,
the slot cover must be opened. Release the two screws and
slide back the cover. Insert the accessory, close the cover as
far as it will travel and tighten the screws again with the
cover in the closed position. This retains the accessory within
the slot.
For fine adjustment of the gobo rotation, the entire front
barrel of the fixture may be rotated by releasing the
barrel rotation knob, and rotating the lens barrel.
Tighten the knob after use.
Using Colour Filters
There are three colour filter options available;
1. Use standard theatrical colour filter in the holder supplied
2. Use Devon Glass filter in the front colour runner
3. Use an 86mm or 100mm dichroic filter in a glass
gobo holder in the gobo or iris slot (not the same slot
as any other accessory)
Note that for 1 & 2, the filter holder must be secured by ensuring that the retaining clip is in the locked position.

Approved lamp types;
Philips Mastercolour CDM-T lamp 150W 830 (3000K) or 942 (4000K) or 70W 830 (3000K) or 70W 942 (4000K)
The Philips 70W or 150W CDM-T 830 (
3000K) or 942 (4000K) lamp has a manufacturer’s rated life of 9000hrs. This is
a manufacturer’s rated life and is not a guaranteed life in real service. In practice it has been found that under
reasonable service conditions that this life expectancy is c
ommon. It has been noted that there may be a degradation
in light output over the life of the lamp, which can become noticeable after 6000hr. We do not currently recommend
the use of any other manufacturer’s lamp.
It is important to replace any lamp t
hat fails to ignite or begins to cycle (switching on and off continually). Although
the ballast (if using the recommended type) will have a thermal cut-
off and timed ignitor to protect against damage,
the life of the ignitor may be reduced.
We recommend a planned annual maintenance and lamp change. This should avoid the need for occasional lamp
changes. In addition, you should assess the risk of accidental and deliberate damage, and the conditions under which
these fixtures are used, and plan additional maintenance as this risk assessment requires. It is often a statutory
requirement to keep a written record of your risk assessment and the measures employed.
The Philips CDM ceramic metal halide lamp has excellent colour rendering for a metal halide lam
p. The lamp will
reach its optimum output and stability after 100 hrs use. Before this time there may be a variation in colour
temperature and output. These phenomena may also occur when the position of the fixture is changed.
These effects are more noticeable with the 3000K 830 lamp types.
For installation of the lamp, please see the section Installing the Lamp above
Routine Maintenance Routine Maintenance
Routine maintenance should include cleaning the lenses with a dry lint free cloth, examination for any physical
damage, checking the tightness of the mountings, checking electrical connections.
The lamp should be replaced within its rated life of 9000hrs or when the light output begins to fall, or when the lamp
regularly fails to ignite within 30s of power-on.
W
ARNING: The Source Four CDM is rated to IP20 and therefore should only be used in an internal dry environment.
Routine maintenance procedures and intervals should be assessed on an individual basis based on the location, usage
and potential risks. This procedure should be documented as part of your site risk assessment.
