brakestoslowitdown.Equally,ifthegliderdropsbehindyou,releasethebrakestoallowittospeedup.

Nopilotandnogliderareimmunetocollapseshoweveractiveyingwillvirtuallyeliminateanytendency

thewingenablingyoutoyactivelywithoutusing the brakes.Usingbrakeswhilstacceleratedcauses
dragwhichisnotonlyinefcientbutitalsoreducestheinherentstabilityoftheprole-usingthebrakes
whilstacceleratedcanactuallyleadtoacollapse.UsingtheDrisersincreasestheangleofattackevenly
acrossthechordanddoesnotweakentheprole,thedirectfeelallowsyoutostopcollapsesbeforethey
happenwhilstmaintainingahigherspeedandhigherlevelofefciencythroughturbulence.
ToywiththeDrisers,keepholdofyourbrakehandles(removeanywraps)andtakeholdoftheDrisers.
Ifyouseeorfeeltheleadingedgelosepressure,youcaninputtotheDriserstohelpkeepthenoseopen.
BecarefultouseonlysmallinputswiththeDrisers,youriskstallingpartorallofthewingifyouareover
enthusiastic.Theamountofpressureandsizeoftheinputisdependentontheamountofturbulence/loss
ofpressure,butalwaysbegentleatrst.
Bepreparedforplentyofpracticeasthisnewmethodmaytakesometimeforittobecometotallyintuitive,
efcient and comfortable. This control method is suitable for gliding in good ‘normal’ air, it does not
replaceproperactiveyingonthebrakesinstrongturbulentconditions.Ifyouareunsureabouttheair
releasetheDrisers,returntheglidertothewhitelinetrimmerpositionandyactivelywiththebrakes.
