1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Content, Scope, Purpose
This document provides Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) for the Garmin G5000 Integrated
Flight Deck including the GFC700 Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS) as installed in the Beechcraft
Model 400A series under STC ST01821WI which defines each of the installation configurations required
to safely operate the aircraft.
This document satisfies the requirements for continued airworthiness as defined by 14 CFR Part 25.1529.
Information in this document is required to maintain the continued airworthiness of the G5000 and
GFC700 systems.
1.1.1 Applicability
This document applies to all Beechcraft Model 400A series aircraft equipped with the G5000 and GFC700
AFCS systems.
Modification of an aircraft by Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) ST01821WI obligates the aircraft
operator to include the information, provided by this document, in the operator’s Aircraft Maintenance
Manual and the operator’s Aircraft Scheduled Maintenance Program.
Aircraft modified by this STC have been shown to qualify for operation in Reduced Vertical Separation
Minimum (RVSM) airspace as a group aircraft in accordance with Title 14 of the Code of Federal
Regulations (14 CFR) Part 91, Appendix G, “Operations in Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum
(RVSM) Airspace”, and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Document No. 91-RVSM, Change 2 dated
2/10/2004, “Guidance Material On The Approval Of Operators/Aircraft For RVSM Operations”. This
qualification is based on analysis of the configuration and performance of the air data, automatic altitude
control, altitude alerting, and altitude reporting systems. These systems must be maintained in
accordance with the inspections and tests specified in this document and other current maintenance
practices to guarantee continued compliance to RVSM specifications.

2. SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
This section provides an overview of the G5000 GIFD and GFC 700 AFCS that is installed on the
Beechcraft Model 400A in accordance with STC ST01821WI.
The installation incorporates three high-resolution 12-inch flight displays, along with two touch screen
display/controllers that serve as the primary crew interface for the system. The landscape oriented flight
displays have multi-pane capability that allow essential flight data to be displayed with electronic maps &
charts, TAWS, TCAS, flight plan and weather information on multiple flight display windows
simultaneously. A GMC 7250 autopilot controller and GCU 275 Display controller are installed above the
MFD and both PFDs respectively. A 3-in-1 digital standby instrument (Mid Continent Instruments Model
MD302) is installed beneath the MFD, along with the relocated fuel quantity indicators. The forward
pedestal transition panel includes two GTC 570 touch-screen controllers. A new display format and
dimming panel and miscellaneous switch panel is installed in the aft pedestal (not shown, see Section 3.4
for additional detail). There are additional modifications to the electrical power distribution system,
overhead dimming panel and circuit breaker panels.
Refer Figure 2-1 for the instrument panel layout.
Figure 2-1, G5000 Instrument Panel Layout in the Model 400A Beechjet
Engine indications are normally shown on the MFD engine indicating window or on the PFD during
display reversion mode, except as noted in the list below. There are no changes in engine gauge limits or
markings with the implementation of the G5000; engine gauge limits are incorporated based on existing
AFM/AFMS limitation data.
Gauges/indicators removed and incorporated into the G5000 are as follows:
ITT
N1 fan
N2 turbine
Oil pressure
Oil temperature

Page 2-2
Fuel flow
Fuel temperature
Consumed fuel totalizer
Engine vibration (provided on the GTC summary page)
Additionally, the G5000 will perform automated calculation of the target N1 speed (N1 bug) based on
equations that have been derived using approved AFM/AFMS data and charts.
The AOA indicator, hydraulic pressure indicator, pressurization control and indicators, and crew alerting
system are retained by this installation. Some of these items are relocated within the instrument panel to
accommodate the new equipment placement.
2.1 Equipment Descriptions
2.1.1 GFC 700 Operation
The GFC 700 is a digital Automatic Flight Control System (AFCS), fully integrated within the G5000
system avionics architecture. The GFC 700 AFCS functionality is distributed across the following Line
Replaceable Units (LRUs):
GDU 1200W Primary Flight Displays (PFDs) – 2 LRUs
GDU 1200W Multi-Function Display (MFD) – 1 LRU
GIA 63W Integrated Avionics Units – 2 LRUs
GSA 9000 Servos – 3 LRUs
GSM 9100 Gearbox – 3 LRUs
GMC 7250 A/P Mode Controller – 1 LRU
GTA 82 Trim Adapter – 1 LRU
The GFC 700 AFCS is designed as a three-axis fail passive digital flight control. The following functions
are provided by the GFC 700 in this installation:
Flight Director
Autopilot
Yaw Damper
Rudder Boost
Flight Director:
The Flight Directors operate within the GIA 63Ws and use data from the G5000 system, including air,
attitude and flight data, to calculate commands for display to the pilot and for the Autopilot. Flight director
command bars and mode annunciations are sent to the PFDs through a high-speed Ethernet connection
for display to the pilot and copilot. The flight directors operate independently of the autopilot and allow
the pilot to hand-fly the command bars, if desired. The GMC 7250 allows the pilot to switch the active
director between flight director #1 (GIA1) and flight director #2 (GIA2). The Flight Director provides:
Command Bars showing pitch/roll guidance
Vertical/lateral mode selection and processing
Autopilot communication
Autopilot:
The autopilot operates with two Garmin Servo Actuators (GSA) 9000 servos used to provide primary pitch
and roll control. A Garmin Trim Adapter (GTA) 82 interfaces to the existing pitch trim control system for
automatic pitch trim control. The LH/RH GIA interface to the existing roll trim system for automatic roll
trim control. Flight director data is processed within the servos and turned into aircraft primary and
secondary flight control surface commands. The autopilot cannot operate unless the flight director is
engaged. The autopilot provides servo monitoring and Automatic Flight Control in response to Flight
Director steering commands, utilizing AHRS and ADC sensor information.
