HUMIDIFIER QUICK SET UP

Use these basic instructions to quickly set up your unit. Use the “Detailed Set Up

Instructions” on page 6 for additional set up and operational information.

UNPACK HUMIDIFIER

1. OPEN THE CARTON AND REMOVE PACKING AND LITERATURE ON TOP.

2. LIFT THE CHASSIS (TOP SECTION) OFF THE BASE BY FOLDING THE PIVOT LID UP,

AND LIFTING IT OUT, THEN PULL THE CABINET OUT OF THE CARTON.

READ AND SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS:

1. To reduce the risk of ﬁre or shock hazard, this humidiﬁer has a polarized plug

(one blade is wider than the other). Plug humidiﬁer directly into a 120V, A.C.

electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords. If the plug does not fully ﬁt into the

outlet, reverse plug. If it still does not ﬁt, contact a qualiﬁed electrician to install

the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

2. Keep the electric cord out of trac areas. To reduce the risk of ﬁre hazard,

never put the electric cord under rugs, near heat registers, radiators, stoves or

heaters.

3. Always unplug the unit before moving, cleaning or removing the fan assembly

section from the humidiﬁer, or whenever it is not in service.

4. Keep the humidiﬁer clean. To reduce the risk of injury, ﬁre or damage to humid-

iﬁer, use only cleaners speciﬁcally recommended for humidiﬁers. Never use

ﬂammable, combustible or poisonous materials to clean your humidiﬁer

5. Do not put foreign objects inside the humidiﬁer.

6. Do not allow unit to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used

by or near children.

7. To reduce the risk of electrical hazard or damage to humidiﬁer, do not tilt, jolt or

tip humidiﬁer while unit is running.

8. To reduce the risk of accidental electrical shock, do not touch the cord or con-

trols with wet hands.

9. To reduce the risk of ﬁre, do not use near an open ﬂame such as a candle or

other ﬂame source.

WARNINGS: For your own safety, do not use humidiﬁer if any parts are damaged or

missing.

To reduce risk of ﬁre, electric shock, or injury always unplug before servicing or

cleaning.

To reduce the risk of ﬁre or shock hazard, do not pour or spill water into

control or motor area. If controls get wet, let them dry completely and have unit

checked by authorized service personnel before plugging in.

GENERAL INFORMATION

How Evaporative Humidiers Work

our new humidiﬁer adds invisible moisture to your

home by drawing dry air into the humidiﬁer though

the back and moisturizing it as it passes through

the saturated wicks. The air becomes humidiﬁed,

while any dust and hard water minerals remain in

the wick. Because the water is evaporated, there is

just clean, moist air.

Get the Most from Your Humidiﬁer

When ﬁrst setting up your humidiﬁer, place it in a

central area where the air can ﬂow evenly throughout

the home. Initially, it may take approximately 48 hours

of operation for humidity levels to rise, depending on

outdoor air temperatures, and the tightness of your

home’s construction. To raise the humidity quickly, run

the humidiﬁer on high (lower the fan speed at night, if

needed for sleeping). More helpful notes on location

follow the “Detailed Set-Up” on pages 6 and 7.

Wick Performance

As the evaporative wick traps accumulated minerals

from the water, its ability to absorb and evaporate

water decreases. We recommend changing the wick

at the beginning of every season and after every 30

to 60 days of operation to maintain optimum perfor-

mance. In hard water areas, more frequent replace-

ment may be necessary to maintain your humidiﬁer’s

eciency.

CAUTIONS Regarding Additives to Water

• To maintain the wick’s integrity and warranty, nev-

er add anything to the water except Essick Air

brand bacteriostat for evaporative humidiﬁers.

• For best results do not use softened water. If

you only have softened water, you can use it,

but mineral buildup will occur more quickly. Use

distilled or puriﬁed water to extend the life of the

wick.

• Never add essential oils in the water. It will dam-

age the plastic and cause leaks.

• Never add water treatment intended for ultra-

sonic or rotobelt humidiﬁers.

Replace wick every 30 to 60

days for best performance.

DETAILED SET UP

Unpack and assemble the unit

1. Open the carton and lift o the packing material

on top.

2. Using both hands, lift up the chassis (top section)

and carefully set it aside.

3. Remove the contents from inside the cabinet and

verify all parts are included:

• HDC411 Wick installed 2 pieces

in each wick assembly.

• Float and ﬂoat retainer clip

• Parts kit bag contains:

• 4 casters

4. Turn the cabinet upside down and insert the casters

into each of four holes. Casters should be inserted

fully, so the stem shoulder is snuggly ﬁtted reaching

the cabinet base

5. Set the cabinet right side up and install the ﬂoat:

a. Place the retainer ring around the ﬂoat be

tween the ﬁrst and second bumbs.

b. Position the base of the ﬂoat into the ﬂoor

socket.

. Pinch the retainer ring to insert the tab end of

the retainer ring into the lower portion of the cen-

ter slot of the back grid for normal operation.

6. Install wick assemblies

a. Locate the two mounting studs on the ﬂoor of

the cabinet. Snap the front wick plates onto

the studs.

b. Install wick sections, on the left and right side of

the wick plate. See illustrations.

c. Once the wick plates and wicks are installed,

place the top wick housings on each plate

and fasten by inserting the tabs on the plates

into the slots on the top wick housings.

Install the chassis

1. Place the chassis on the unit. Ensure the cord is

not trapped, when you replace the chassis.

NOTE: For easier placement, swivel the pivot lid up

and grasp the chassis in the center and place it on top

of the cabinet.

Fill the unit with water

1. Lift the pivot lid and use a pitcher

or bucket to pour water into the

reservoir. A "FULL" sticker on each

side of the cabinet indicates the

highest level of water acceptable.

2. Total capacity is 4.7 gallons.

Do not overﬁll.

Locate Place for Your Humidifier

1. Once the unit is assembled and ﬁlled, position it at

least 2 inches from the wall to ensure the humidistat

has adequate air to sample. See “Tips for Position-

ing” in the margin.

OPERATION

Turn On and Set Controls

1. Rotate

the left knob clockwise to turn the unit on.

The power light will illuminate. Continue turning the

knob to set the fan speed to low, medium or high.

2. Set the humidity level by rotating the right hand

knob. The level of humidity increases as you turn

the knob further to the right. Note the chart in the

margin as a guide.

3. The automatic humidistat feature will turn the fan

on or o to maintain the selected humidity level.

4. When the unit is almost empty, the Reﬁll light will

illuminate. Reﬁll the unit with cool, clean water.

Tips for Positioning

Tips for Humidity Setting

• To start, set the humidity level between 45-50%. Adjust to desired level after get-

ting a baseline reading.

• It may take up to 48 hours of operation to see overall humidity levels change.

• CDC tests show that humidity levels of 43% greatly reduce the ability of ﬂu virus

to spread.

• We recommend using high speeds during the day to spread humidiﬁed air rapidly,

and using low speed for nighttime use.

NOTE:

If desired, you can dry the unit out by placing the

ﬂoat retainer clip into the top portion of the center slot in

the back to cause the motor to run continuously. Remem-

ber to replace the ﬂoat back to the lower position when

returning the unit to normal service.

Wick Replacement (Use HDC411 Super Wick)

1. When it’s time to replace the wick, allow the humidiﬁ

to run dry, so water level will be low.

2. Lift o the chassis to gain access to the wick assemblies.

3. Release the tabs holding the top wick housings to

the front wick plates to access and remove the wick

sections.

4. Install t

wo pieces of a new HDC411 Super Wick into

each wick assembly.

5. Reassemble the wick assemblies and replace the

chassis.

General Cleaning:

commended Cleaning ﬂuids:

• Household bleach for general disinfecting (used for

cleaning only).

• White vinegar to remove scale.

NOTE: Regular use of an EPA approved Bacteriostat, such as

Essick Air Part No. 1970 added to the water reservoir helps

keep the interior of the unit from growing mildew or mold.

NOTE: Before cleaning, we recommend moving the humidiﬁ-

er to an area where water will not cause damage, such as the

kitchen or bathroom.

1. Separate the upper wick housings from wick plates and

set the wicks in a sink or basin to drain. Dispose of and

replace wicks, as necessary.

2. Remove the ﬂoat and ﬂoat retainer ring from the cabinet.

3. Half ﬁll the reservoir in the bottom of the cabinet with

clean, cool water and add 8 ounces (1 cup) of white vin-

egar. Place the components (ﬂoat, ﬂoat retainer loop,

wick plates and top housings) in the reservoir and allow

the solution sit for 20 minutes.

4. Take a soft cloth dampened with white vinegar and

wipe down the interior of cabinet, and the components.

Drain the cleaning solution from the reservoir. Thor-

oughly rinse out the reservoir.

5. Rinse and wipe down each component before rein-

stalling

6. Prepare unit for use by following the assembly

instructions on pages 6 and 7, or proceed to the

Disinfecting Unit instructions below, if desired

Performance Tips

Disinfecting Unit

Perform steps 1-5 in General Cleaning, above.

1. Half ﬁll the reservoir with cool, clean water, and add

one teaspoon of household bleach. Dampen a soft,

clean cloth with a little of the solution and wipe cabinet

interior and components.

2. Leave solution in the reservoir for 20 minutes, then

rinse thoroughly

until the smell of bleach is gone.

3. Reassemble, install a new wick and ﬁll the unit as

detailed on pages 6 and 7

Storing Unit

1. Clean and disinfect unit before storing the unit.

2. Dispose of the used wick, and soak up any water still

in the reservoir.

3. Thoroughly dry the inside and outside of the humidiﬁer

before storing.

4. Store humidiﬁer in original box if available.

5. Do not store in attic or other high temperature area, as

damage will occur.

6. Install new wick ﬁlter at beginning of new season.

TWO YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY POLICY

SALES RECEIPT REQUIRED AS PROOF OF PURCHASE FOR ALL WARRANTY CLAIMS.

This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser of this humidiﬁer when the unit is

installed and used under normal conditions against defects in workmanship and materials

as follows:

• Two (2) years from date of sale on the unit, and

• Thirty (30) days on wicks and ﬁlters, which are considered disposable components and

should be replaced periodically.

The manufacturer will replace the defective part/product, at its discretion, with return

freight paid by the manufacturer. It is agreed that such replacement is the exclusive rem-

edy available from the manufacturer and that TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY

LAW, THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND, INCLUD-

ING INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE OR LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES.

Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above

limitations may not apply to you.

Exclusions from this warranty

We are not responsible for replacement of wicks and ﬁlters.

We are not responsible for any incidental or consequential damage from any malfunc-

tion, accident, misuse, alterations, unauthorized repairs, abuse, including failure to per-

form reasonable maintenance, normal wear and tear, nor where the connected voltage

is more than 5% above the nameplate voltage.

We are not responsible for any damage from the use of water softeners or treatments,

chemicals or descaling materials.

We are not responsible for the cost of service calls to diagnose the cause of trouble, or

labor charge to repair and/or replace parts.

No employee, agent, dealer or other person is authorized to give any warranties or

conditions on behalf of the manufacturer. The customer shall be responsible for all labor

costs incurred.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential dam-

ages, so the above limitations or exclusions may not apply to you.

Within the limitations of this warranty, purchaser with inoperative units should contact

customer service at 800-547-3888 for instructions on how to obtain service within

warranty as listed above.

LIRE ET CONSERVER LES INSTRUCTIONS

1. Pour réduire le risque d’incendie ou de choc électrique, cet humidiﬁcateur

possède une ﬁche polarisée (une broche est plus large que l’autre). Branchez

l’humidiﬁcateur directement dans une prise électrique de 120 V, AC. N’utilisez

pas de rallonges. Si la ﬁche n’entre pas complètement dans la prise, inversez la

ﬁche. Si elle ne rentre toujours pas, contactez un électricien qualiﬁé pour installer

une prise adéquate. Ne modiﬁez la ﬁche en aucun cas.

2. Ne laissez pas traîner le cordon électrique dans des passages très fréquentés.

Pour réduire le risque d’incendie, ne placez jamais le cordon électrique sous un

tapis, ou à proximité d’une bouche de chaleur, d’un radiateur, d’un four ou d’un

appareil de chauage.

3. Débranchez toujours l’appareil avant de le déplacer, le nettoyer ou de retirer l’en-

semble de ventilation, ou chaque fois qu’il n’est pas en service.

4. Veillez à ce que l’humidiﬁcateur reste propre. Pour réduire le risque de blessure,

d’incendie ou de dommages à l’humidiﬁcateur, utilisez uniquement des produits

de nettoyage spécialement recommandés pour les humidiﬁcateurs. N’utilisez

jamais de matériaux inﬂammables, combustibles ou toxiques pour nettoyer votre

humidiﬁcateur.

5. Ne placez pas de corps étrangers à l’intérieur de l’humidiﬁcateur.

Ne laissez pas des enfants se servir de cet appareil comme d’un jouet. Il faut faire

très attention quand cet appareil est utilisé par des enfants ou à proximité d’enfants

INFORMATIONS GÉNÉRALES

Mode de fonctionnement des humidiﬁcateurs à

évaporation

Votre nouvel humidiﬁcateur ajoute une humidité invisible

à votre maison en faisant passer l’air sec à travers une

mèche saturée. L’air sec est aspiré dans l’humidiﬁcateur par

le dos et hydraté lorsqu’il passe à travers la mèche saturée.

L’air s’humidiﬁe, tandis que la poussière et les minéraux

de l’eau calcaire restent sur la mèche. Comme l’eau

s’évapore, il ne reste plus que de l’air humide, et propre.

Tirez le meilleur parti de votre humidiﬁcateur d’air

Lorsque vous installez votre humidiﬁcateur pour la

première fois, placez-le dans un endroit central où l’air

peut circuler dans toute la maison. Dans un premier

temps, il peut s’écouler jusqu’à 48 heures avant que le

taux d’humidité n’augmente, selon la température de l’air

extérieur, et l’étanchéité de votre maison. Pour augmenter

rapidement l’humidité, faites fonctionner l’humidiﬁcateur à

vitesse élevée durant la journée, puis réduisez la vitesse la

nuit pour dormir. Vous trouverez d’autres notes plus utiles

sur l’emplacement dans la section Instructions d’installa-

tion détaillées de ce manuel.

Performance de la mèche

mesure que la mèche évaporative retient les minéraux

accumulés dans l’eau, sa capacité d’absorption et d’évapo-

ration de l’eau diminue. Nous recommandons de changer

la mèche au début de chaque saison et tous les 30 à 60

jours de fonctionnement pour maintenir des performances

optimales. Dans les zones où l’eau est calcaire, un rem-

placement plus fréquent peut être nécessaire pour maintenir

l’ecacité de votre humidiﬁcateurment.

Mises En Garde concernant les additifs dans l’eau

Utilisez uniquement de l’eau fraîche et propre pour rem-

plir votre humidiﬁcateu

• Pour maintenir l’intégrité et la performance de la

mèche, n’ajoutez rien à l’eau à l’exception d’agents

bactériostatiques de marque Essick Air pour les humid-

iﬁcateurs à évaporation.

• Pour obtenir de meilleurs résultats n’utilisez pas

d’eau adoucie. Si vous n’avez que de l’eau adoucie

disponible à votre domicile, vous pouvez l’utiliser,

mais l’accumulation de minéraux sera plus rapide.

Vous pouvez utiliser de l’eau distillée ou puriﬁée pour

prolonger la durée de vie de la mèche

• N’ajoutez jamais d’huiles essentielles dans l’eau.

Cela endommagera le plastique,et pourrait provo-

quera des fuites.

• N’ajoutez jamais de traitement d’eau destiné aux humid-

iﬁcateurs à ultrasons ou de type Rotobelt.

Remplacez la mèche

tous les 30 à 60 jours

pour de meilleures.

CONFIGURATION DÉTAILLÉES

Déballage et assemblage

1. Ouvrez la boîte puis retirez le matériel d’emballage

2. Soulevez le châssis (partie supérieure) de la boîte et

mettez-le de côté dans un endroit sûr.

3. Retirer le contenu de l’intérieur de l’armoire et

vériﬁer que toutes les pièces sont incluses

• La mèche HDC411 installé 2 pièces dans chaque

assemblage de mèche.

• Flotteur & retenue de ﬂotteur

• Kit de pièces, y compris

• Manuel

• Roulettes (4)

4. Retournez le meuble et insérez les roulettes dans

chacun des quatre trous. Les roulettes doivent être in-

sérées complètement, en veillant à ce que les rebords

soient au même niveau que la surface de la base.

5. Mettez l'armoire sur le coté droit et installez le

flotteur

a. Placez l'anneau de retenue autour du flotteur

entre la première et la deuxième bosse.

b. Positionnez la base du flotteur dans la prise de sol

c. Pincez l'anneau de retenue pour insérer l'ex-

trémité de la languette de l'anneau de retenue

dans la partie inférieure de la fente centrale de

la grille arrière.

6. Installer des assemblages de mèches:

a. Repérez les deux goujons de montage sur le

plancher du cabinet. Encliquetez les plaques

de mèche avant sur les montants.

b. Installez des sections de mèches, sur les côtés

gauche et droit de la plaque de mèches. Cf.

illustrations.

c. Une fois les plaques et les mèches installées,

placez les fourreaux supérieurs des mèches

sur chaque plaque et fixez-les en insérant les

languettes des plaques dans les fentes des

fourreaux supérieurs.

Installez le châssis

1. Placez le châssis sur le dispositif. Assurez-vous

que le cordon n'est pas coincé, lorsque vous

remplacez le châssis.

REMARQUE : Pour faciliter la mise en place, faites

pivoter le couvercle pivotant vers le haut et saisissez

le châssis au centre et placez-le sur le dessus de

l'armoire.

Remplir l’appareil d’eau

1. Soulevez le couvercle pivotant et utilisez une cru-

che ou un seau pour verser l'eau dans le réservoir.

Un autocollant "FULL" (plein) de chaque côté du

meuble indique le niveau d'eau le plus élevé ac-

ceptable.

2. La capacité du réservoir est de 17.8 litres. NE REM-

PLISSEZ PAS TROP.

REMARQUE : suivez les mises en garde de la page 17

concernant les additifs à l’eau.

Trouvez un emplacement pour l’humidificateur

1. Une fois que l’unité est assemblée et remplie,

placez-la dans un emplacement permettant à l’air

humidiﬁé de circuler. Consultez la section

« Conseils de positionnement » dans la marge.

2. Si nécessaire, utilisez un niveau à bulle pour vous

assurer que l’humidificateur est de niveau en lar-

geur et en profondeur.

urnez le bouton gauche dans le sens des aiguilles

d'une montre pour allumer l'appareil. Le voyant d'al-

imentation s'allumera [Power]. Continuez à tourner

le bouton pour régler la vitesse du ventilateur sur

faible, moyenne ou élevée.

2. Réglez le niveau d'humidité en tournant le bouton de

droite. Le niveau d'humidité augmente à mesure que

vous tournez le bouton plus vers la droite. Notez le

graphique dans la marge comme guide.

3. La fonction d'humidostat automatique active ou

désactive le ventilateur pour maintenir le niveau

d'humidité sélectionné.

4. Lorsque l'unité est presque vide, le voyant de rem-

plissage s'allume [Reﬁll}. Remplissez l'appareil avec

de l'eau fraîche et propre.

• Sur une surface plane près

du mur intérieur.

• Placez-le dans un endroit

central où l’air peut circuler

dans toute la maison.

• À au moins 5 cm du mur.

• Pas à côté d’un thermostat

ou d’une bouche d’aération.

• Pas à proximité d’une

fenêtre (pour éviter la con-

densation).

Conseils de réglage de l’humidiﬁcateur

• Pour commencer, réglez le taux d’humidité entre 45 et 50 %. Ajustez au niveau désiré

après avoir établi un niveau de référence.

• Il peut s’écouler jusqu’à 48 heures avant que le taux d’humidité n’augmente.

• Les tests du CDC montrent qu’un taux d’humidité de 43 % réduit considérablement la

capacité de propagation du virus de la grippe.

• Nous recommandons d’utiliser les vitesses plus élevées pendant la journée pour

disperser l’humidité sur de grandes surfaces. Réduisez à la vitesse basse silencieuse

durant la nuit pour mieux dormir.

ENTRETIEN

DE MISE EN GARDE : Éteignez l’appareil puis débranchez-le avant

de procéder à toute opération d’entretien.

REMARQUE : Si vous le souhaitez, vous pouvez sécher l'unité

en plaçant le clip de retenue du ﬂotteur dans la partie supérieure

de la fente centrale à l'arrière pour faire fonctionner le moteur en

continu. N'oubliez pas de remettre le ﬂotteur en position inférieure

lorsque vous remettez l'unité en service normal.

Remplacement de mèche (utilise la super mèche HDC411)

1. Lorsque le moment est venu de remplacer la mèche, laissez

l’humidiﬁcateur fonctionner à sec pour que le niveau d’eau

soit bas.

2. Retirez le châssis pour avoir accès aux assemblages de

mèches.

3. Relâchez les languettes qui maintiennent les fourreaux

supérieurs de la mèche sur les plaques avant de la mèche

pour accéder aux sections de la mèche et les retire

4. Installez deux pièces d'une nouvelle mèche HDC411 Super

Mèche dans chaque assemblage de mèches.

5. Remontez les ensembles de mèches et remplacez le

châssis

Nettoyage général :

Liquides de nettoyage recommandés :

• Vinaigre blanc pour détartrer

• Eau de Javel pour une désinfection globale

(utilisée uniquement pour le nettoyage).

REMARQUE : l’utilisation régulière d’agents bactériostatiques

approuvés par l’EPA, comme l’article 1970 d’Essick Air ajouté

au réservoir d’eau, permet d’éviter la formation de moisissure à

l’intérieur de l’appareil.

REMARQUE : lors du nettoyage, nous vous recommandons de

déplacer l’humidiﬁcateur dans un endroit où l’eau ne causera

pas de dommages, comme la cuisine ou la salle de bain.

1. Séparez les fourreaux supérieurs des plaques à mèches

et placez les mèches dans un évier ou une cuvette pour

qu'elles s'égouttent. Éliminez et remplacez la mèche, si

nécessaire.

2. Retirez le ﬂotteur et l'anneau de retenue du ﬂotteur de

l'armoire.

3. Remplir la base à peu près à moitié avec de l’eau pro-

pre et ajouter 8 onces (1 tasse) de vinaigre blanc. Placez

les composants (ﬂotteur, boucle de retenue du ﬂotteur,

plaques de mèche et boîtiers supérieurs) dans le réservoir

et laissez la solution reposer pendant 20 minutes.

4. Prenez un chion doux imbibé de vinaigre blanc et es-

suyez l'intérieur de l'armoire et les composants. Vidangez

la solution de nettoyage du réservoir. Rincez abondam-

ment le réservoir.
