Getting Started
Main Menu
Press the A Button on the title screen to display the main menu. You can choose from the following
menu options:
BEGIN Go to the file-selection screen and start or continue the game.
2P BATTLE P1 (red) and P2 (blue) do battle.
OPTIONS Adjust the sound-effects volume and other settings.
HIGH SCORES Check out the top scores from the game.
BONUSES View the movies you have seen up till now.
Note: Challenge Mode (p. 19) will be added to the main menu once you have collected a certain treasure.
Try to get as high a score as possible within the time limit as you collect treasures and battle enemies with a limited number
of Pikmin.
File-Selection Screen
When you start the game for the first time, select any of the Ship’s Logs
with New displayed. The next time you play, you can choose to continue
a saved game by selecting a Ship’s Log with the day number displayed.
Note:
• Press the 1 Button to copy the highlighted Ship’s Log to another location.
• To erase the highlighted Ship’s Log, press the 2 Button.
Please note that once you delete save data, it cannot be recovered.
Saving Data
You can save your progress at the end of each day and after exiting a cave (p. 17) by selecting
Save. Game progress will also be saved automatically when you enter a cave or descend to a
subterranean level.
To save your progress, you will need at least 2 blocks of free memory in Wii system memory. Please
note that once you overwrite save data, it cannot be recovered.
For information about erasing files from Wii system memory, please refer to the Wii Operations
Manual (Channels and Settings).

Playing video games can make your muscles, joints, skin or eyes hurt. Follow these instructions to
avoid problems such as tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, skin irritation or eyestrain:
•Avoidexcessiveplay.Parentsshouldmonitortheirchildrenforappropriateplay.
•Takea10to15minutebreakeveryhour,evenifyoudon’tthinkyouneedit.
•Ifyourhands,wrists,armsoreyesbecometiredorsorewhileplaying,orifyoufeelsymptomssuch
as tingling, numbness, burning or stiffness, stop and rest for several hours before playing again.
•Ifyoucontinuetohaveanyoftheabovesymptomsorotherdiscomfortduringorafter
play, stop playing and see a doctor.
Playing video games can cause motion sickness in some players. If you or your child feel dizzy
or nauseous when playing video games, stop playing and rest. Do not drive or engage in other
demanding activity until you feel better.
This Nintendo game is not designed for use with
any unauthorized device. Use of any such device will invalidate your Nintendo product warranty.
Copying of any Nintendo game is illegal and is strictly prohibited by domestic and international intel-
lectual property laws. “Back-up” or “archival” copies are not authorized and are not necessary to protect
your software. Violators will be prosecuted.
