2. I/O Connectors
MEMRECAM GX-1 has three I/O connectors at the back of the camera. Followings show locations and
major usages of each I/O. Please refer to Appendix B for details.

3. LED Status Indicator
MEMRECAM GX-1 indicates its status using five LED’s at the back of the camera. This section will explain
features and functions of the LED status indicators.
Location and layout
Status
1) UB: USB
LED Status
Green An USB device is connected.
Off No connection or power off.
2) ET: Ethernet
LED On/Blinking Status
On Network is connected via 100Base-TX/1000Base-T.
Green
Blinking Network is activating via 100Base-TX/1000Base-T.
Off No connection or power off.
Note: There is no difference between 100base-TX and 1000base-T on the LED indicator.

3) CM: Camera Mode
LED Status
Blue STOP/READY Mode:
Status just after boot up or completion of recording, or stop/still in playback.
White
VIEW Mode:
The imager is outputting image signal while the last recording image data is kept in
the memory.
Magenta
ARM Mode:
The imager is outputting image signal that is being recorded (overwritten) to the
memory.
Red
REC Mode:
The imager is outputting image signal that is being recorded to the memory after
detecting the trigger signal.
Off Power off or booting up.
4) PW: Power
LED Status
Green Power is on and the camera is in normal state.
Red
Power is on but the camera is in abnormal state.
(in case of malfunctioned, power failure (over/low voltage), over
temperature on the sensor)
Off Power is off.
5) MB: Memory Backup
It indicates amount of the battery and backup status by combination of color and on/blinking/off.

Orange Intermediate
Green Full
Note: Please supply the power to the camera if the LED turns to Red from Orange during the
memory backup otherwise the image data in the memory will be lost.
Backup Status
LED Backup Status
On Backup by an external power supply.
Blinking Backup by the built-in battery.
Off Backup is not activated.
Note: Memory backup is not activated if there is no data in the memory.

5.3 J-Pad 3 Operations
1) General
J-Pad 3 is an optional remote controller useable for the Memrecam GX series. It allows you to operate
most of the functions of the camera without a control PC (GX Link).
Important: Settings in GX Link (control software) are prior to settings in the camera. Therefore, even if
you set the parameters of the camera using the J-Pad, all settings will be followed to the GX
Link settings once you connect the control PC to the camera.
2) Functions and Features
You can operate the Memrecam GX without a PC.
Easy operations by control keys and jog dial.
There are shortcut keys for basic settings and functions as follows in addition to detail settings
from the menu key.
Settings: Frame Rate, Shutter Speed, Trigger Mode
Functions: Low Light Mode, Download Mode, External Signal Setting Mode.
It has a LCD to display the setting parameters (but not to display image from the camera).

REV Reduces playback speed in loop or foreword replay. And increases
playback speed in backward replay.
FWD Increases playback speed in loop or foreword replay. And reduces
playback speed in backward replay.
VIEWARM Turns to View mode from Ready mode.
Turns to Arm mode from View mode.
TRIG Gives trigger in Arm mode to end the recording.
Jumps to a triggered frame or event-marked frame in STOP mode.

c) Direct Setting Keys
Following keys allow you to set essential parameters and functions directly as regards recording,
playback and data download.
FRM RATE Set Key: sets frame rate.
SHUTTER Set Key: sets shutter speed.
TRIG Set Key: sets trigger position.
S.SET Set Key: sets a start frame in playback/download.
E.SET Set Key: sets an end frame in playback/download.
LOW LIGHT Key: On/off low light mode.
WAVE Not Available
DOWNLOAD Key: makes a download via USB2 I/F to a memory stick, a CF w/ card
reader or a HDD.
