The batteries (battery pack of batteries installed) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as

sunshine, re or the like.

Installation of Battery

1. Remove the insulating mylar strip from the

battery. It is located at the bottom back

side of the remote control.

2. Pull out the battery compartment with your

ngernails.

3. Replace a new battery (size 2025) correctly

and fully insert the battery compartment back

to the original position.

Handling the Remote Control

• Remove the batteries if the remote control is not going to be used for an extended period of

time.

• To avoid possible failure, read the following instructions and handle the remote control properly.

• Do not drop or cause impact to the remote control.

• Do not spill water or any liquid on the remote control.

• Do not place the remote control on a wet object.

• Do not place the remote control under the direct sunlight or near sources of excessive heat.

• Do not use caustic cleaners ( porcelain, stainless steel, toilet, or oven cleaner etc. ) on the

remote, as it may suffer damage.

Note:

Remove the battery from remote control handset when it is not to be used for a long period.

Otherwise it can be damaged due to leakage of battery.

Remote Control Operation Range

Point the remote control to the unit no more than 6 meters from the remote control sensor and

within 60° horizontally and 20° vertically of the front of the unit. The operating distance may vary

according to the brightness of the room.

Note:

• Make sure that there is no obstacle between the infrared remote sensor of the unit and remote

control. If you install the unit on rack, etc.., the remote controllable range may decrease

depending on the thickness or colour of glass door of rack.

• Do not expose the infrared remote sensor to direct sunlight or other strong light, such as inverter

uorescent light.

Connections

Caution: Make all connections before plugging the system into an AC power outlet.

Connecting the Antenna

Connect the supplied FM antenna to

the FM Antenna socket on the rear of

the unit.

Caution:

To avoid noise, keep antenna away

from the system, the connecting cord

and the AC power cord.

Connecting the iPod portable player

You can press the iPod dock on the front panel gently, then insect your iPod portable player in the

iPod docking. Make sure the dock adaptor is compatible to your iPod.

Connecting Auxiliary Equipment (AUX INPUT)

Connect the AUX INPUT sockets on this unit to the line output sockets on the auxiliary equipment

as illustrated below.

Connecting the AC Power Plug

Connect the mains cable to the AC Power Socket (AC~) on the unit and the mains socket on wall,

then your unit is ready to use.

Caution:

Be sure to unplug the mains plug from the mains socket when going out or when the unit is not in use

for an extended period of time.

Where the mains plug is used as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily

operable.

ECO-Power/Standby Features

1. The system will automatically switch to "Standby" mode if you do not press any buttons within 15

minutes and the LED indicator is on.

2. The unit will enter "ECO-Power" mode if no button is pressed within 90 seconds.

3. When iPod is in docked, it should not go to Eco-standby mode automatically.

When iPod is NOT in docked, it should go to Eco-standby mode automatically.

Caution: When turning the system on, the system comes on ready to continue in the mode it was in

when last turned off.

When the system is connected to the power, the dock iPod begins to charge.

Setting the Clock

 Setting the Clock Manually

1. The unit automatically goes to "Standby" mode for clock setting in the rst time, the unit will

display with clock blink " - - : - - ".

2. Press the Clock button (CLOCK) twice, the hour indicator will blink.

3. Set the hour with the Volume Down button (VOL-) or Volume Up button (VOL+).

4. Press the Clock button (CLOCK), the minute indicator will blink.

5. Set the minute with the Volume Down button (VOL-) or Volume Up button (VOL+).

6. Press the Clock button (CLOCK), then the built-in clock starts operating.

Note:

•

When the clock setting time for each step is longer, the clock setting mode will be cancelled.

• If a power failure occurs or the unit is disconnected from the mains, the clock setting will be lost.

 Setting the Clock Automatically

Tune into a RDS station and wait for a few minutes. To conrm, press the Clock button (CLOCK).

 Display the Clock

In standby mode, press the Clock button (CLOCK).

At ECO-Power mode, press (CLOCK) or (DISPLAY) button on the remote control to display the

clock.

Sound Quality

Adjusting the Volume

To increase or decrease the volume, press the Volume Control button (VOL - / VOL +) on the top of

unit or press the Volume Up/Down buttons (VOL +/-) on the remote control.

Adjusting the super bass

You can reinforce the bass sound to maintain rich, full bass at low volume.

Press the Super Bass button (S-BASS) on the remote control to get the effect. Press the Super

Bass button (S-BASS) again to cancel the effect.

Controlling the Loudness

This unit has loudness function, which can automatically increase the bass sound effect at low

volume. It can also increase the bass sound effect at high volume, but it will be relatively less when

it is at high volume. Press the Loudness button (LOUDNESS) on the remote control to obtain the

loudness function.

Presetting Equalizer

You can adjust the sound reproduced simply by choosing from 5 preset equalizers. Press the Preset

Equalizer button (P-EQ) repeatedly to scroll through the following options:

Changing the Front Panel Darkness

This unit has three brightness levels for you to adjust the clock display. Press the Dimmer Control

button (DIM) on the remote control repeatedly to choose the desired brightness.

Listening to Radio Broadcasts

FM Radio

You can listen to FM stations. Stations can be tuned in manually, automatically or from preset mem-

ory storage.

Caution:

Before listening to the radio, please check that the FM Antenna is correctly connected and adjusted

for length and direction.

Tuning in to a Station

Press Source button on the unit or on the remote control.

2. Select a station using one of the following methods.

 Auto Tuning

Press and hold the Tuning Backward/Forward button (󱛦/󱛧) on the remote control for one

second or more, the frequency changes down or up automatically until a station is found.

 Manual Tuning

Repeatedly press the Tuning Backward/Forward button (󱛦/󱛧) on the remote control to change

the frequency until you nd the station you want.

 Preset Tuning (Available only after the stations are preset)

Repeatedly press the Preset Up/Down Switch button (󱛨/󱛩) on the remote control to select the

desired preset number. Its band and frequency are displayed on the front panel.

Presetting Stations

You can manually preset up to 20 FM stations.

To tune in to the desired station:

1. Press the Program button (PROG) on the remote control, the preset number will be displayed.

2. Press the Preset Up/ Down switch button (󱛨/󱛩) on the remote control to select the preset

number.

Note: If you select more than 20, the preset number will be changed to “1” automatically.

3. Press the Program button (PROG) again to store the station. The display will return to the

broadcast frequency display.

4. Repeat above steps 1 to 3 for each station you want to store in memory with a preset number.

Note: If the unit is unplugged or if a power failure occurs, the preset stations will not be erased af-

ter being stored.

To change the FM Reception Mode

Press the Mode button (MODE) to select the Auto or Mono channel to receive the best FM reception

mode.

RDS (Radio Data System) Reception

Many FM stations are broadcasting added data compatible with Radio Data System (RDS). This

radio set offers convenient functions using such data.

Press the Display button (DISPLAY) on the remote control repeatedly to select the information that

displayed as follows.

 Programme Service Name

When an RDS station is received, the RDS indicator lights and automatically displays the name

of that station instead of the frequency. When the Display button (DISPLAY) on the remote con-

trol is pressed during Programme Service display, the Clock Time is displayed for a few sec-

onds, then Programme Service display returns.

 Programme Type

Programme type identication signal. (Example: News, Rock, Classical music.)

 Radio Text

This displays the news of stations.

 Clock Time System

The Clock Time system may not properly operate in areas where RDS Clock Time service is not

available. Once Clock Time service is received, the Clock Time system keeps operating. “RDS

CLOCK” is displayed in areas where no Clock Time services are available.

 Changing Display

During Programme Service display, press the Display button (DISPLAY) on the remote control

repeatedly to select the Clock Time, Programme Type or Frequency. They will be displayed for a

few seconds, then the Programme Service display returns.

CD Operation

CD Playing

1. Repeatedly press the SOURCE button (SOURCE)

on the top of the unit or on the remote control.

2. Insert a disc (with the printed side face to you) on

the Disc Slot gently, the unit will read the disc and

playback it automatically.

Note: If in stop mode, please press the Play/Pause

button (BF) to start playing the disc.

3. Press the Play/Pause button (BF) to pause the

playing, press the button again to continue play.

4. Press the Stop button (L) to stop the disc playing.

To Skip Search and Play

 Press the Previous button () once or more to skip previous one or more tracks of the disc.

 Press the Next button (󱛧) once or more to skip forward one or more tracks of the disc.

Text Display During Playback

Press the Display button (DISPLAY) to show the current track number and remaining playback time.

Program Play

1. Insert a disc and press the Stop button (L) on the remote control when it starts playing.

2. Press the Program button (PROG), “01-P-00” appears.

3. Press the 󱛦/󱛧 buttons on the remote control to select the desired track number.

4. Press the Program button (PROG) to conrm the track number to be stored.

5. Repeat steps 3-4 to select and store all desired tracks.

6. Press the Play/Pause button (BF) to start programme play.

7. Press the Stop button (L) once to stop the programme play. Press the Stop button (L) twice to

clear program.

Random Play (CD and MP3 discs)

The CD can be played randomly.

Press the Random button (RANDOM) once and then press the Previous/Next buttons (󱛦/󱛧) to begin

the random play.

Playing the Beginning (Intro) of each Track

Press the Intro button (INTRO) on the remote control to play the beginning of each track consecutively.

The playing time of each track is 10 seconds. When you hear the desired track, press Play/Pause

(BF) button twice.

Playing Repeatedly

ONE and ALL Repeat Play can be set by pressing the Mode button (MODE).

First press : To repeat playing same track , the word “REP” will blink.

Second press : To repeat playing all tracks on a disc, the word “REP” will appear.

Third press : To cancel the repeat playing, the word “REP” will disappear.

MP3/WMA Disc Playing

Note: MP3/WMA music playback from CD maybe be affected due to the type and format of disc or

condition of the recording. If you are having trouble playing a certain disc, it is recommended to use

USB input instead for best MP3/WMA playback.

When selecting tracks the player will automatically display the album and track number. For ex-

ample: track number 21 may be from album 3, track 7.

1. Press the SOURCE button (SOURCE) on the unit or on the remote control.

2. Insert a MP3/WMA disc on the disc slot.

3. Press the Display button (DISPLAY) on the remote control, ID3 information (song title and artist)

will be displayed or “NO ID3” if there is no ID3 information. Press this button again, and the

album, track and playing time will be displayed.

4. When playing MP3/WMA discs, the current album and track will be displayed.

5. Press the Previous/Next buttons (/󱛧) to select the previous/next track.

6. Press the Album Up button (󱛨) or Album Down button (󱛩) on the remote control to select the

next/previous album, and play the rst track of this album.

If the playing has ended, press the Album Up button (󱛨) or Album Down button (󱛩) on the

remote control to select the next/previous album.

Then choose the track with the Next button (󱛧) or Previous button (󱛦).

7. Press the Play/Pause button (BF) to start playing the disc.

8. Press the Stop button (L) to stop playback.

Note: Play will continue to the nal track when the selected tracks have been played.

The rst 2 digits of the display is the album number, the next 3 digits is the track number and

the remaining digits display the minutes and seconds.

Playing Repeatedly (MP3/WMA disc)

ONE, ALB and ALL repeat play can be set by pressing the Mode button (MODE).

First press : To repeat the same track, the words “TRK” and “REP” will blink.

Second press : To repeat ALB (Album), the words “ALB” and “REP” will blink.

Third press : To repeat ALL (All albums and tracks), the words “ALB”, “TRK” and “REP” will stay

lit.

Fourth press : To cancel the repeat playing, the word will disappear.

Use the USB

By connecting an USB mass storage device to this unit, you can enjoy the device’s stored music

through the powerful speakers of Hi-Fi system.

1. Insert the USB device’s USB plug into the socket on the rear of unit.

2. Press source button (SOURCE) to select USB function. The device’s stored music will be played

automatically.

3. When you store more one folders in the USB ash, use the Album Up button (󱛨) or Album Down

button (󱛩) on the remote control to select the next/previous folder. Then choose the track with the

Next button (󱛧) or Previous button (󱛦) to play the folder.

For the devices with USB cables:

1. Insert one plug of the USB cable (not supplied) to the socket on the set.

2. Insert the other plug of the USB cable to the USB output terminal of the USB device.

USB Storage Device Data Protection

 Always insert the USB device in the correct direction. Failure to do so may result in damage

to the USB device and this product.

 Do not remove the USB device while it is being accessed.

 Electrical interference and electrostatic discharges may cause the USB device to malfunction and

suffer damage, resulting in data loss.

It is strongly recommended that any important data is backed up on a PC to protect against corrup-

tion, data loss or device malfunction. Please note that our company shall not accept any liability for

damage or loss of stored data.

Note: USB connection is not compatible with all hard drive models.

Use the iPod portable player

Correctly dock your iPod portable player in the docking. Make sure the dock adaptor is compatible.

Press the Source button (SOURCE) on the remote control or on the top of the unit to select iPod

source.

Playback starts automatically. You can select available features (e.g. MENU, OK, BF, 󱛧, 󱛦

 󱛨󱛩 etc.) during playback.

When iPod is properly docked, the battery power is recharged automatically.

Note:

iPod is a trademark of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. iPod is not included.

Setting the Sleep Timer

Use the sleep timer to turn the system off after a certain number of minutes when it is playing. By

setting the sleep timer, you can fall asleep to music and know that your system will turn off by itself

rather than play all night.

1. Play a CD or tune in to the desired station.

2. To set the sleep timer press the Sleep button (SLEEP/TIMER) on the remote control repeatedly, it

changes the number of minutes shown on the display in this sequence:

After setting the number of minutes for the sleep timer, the display will return to the display as

before setting the sleep timer.

The system is now set to turn off after the number of minutes you set.

To conrm the sleep time

When the Sleep button (SLEEP/TIMER) on the remote control is pressed once, the remaining sleep

time is displayed. Wait for a second until the display returns to the original display.

To cancel the sleep timer setting

Repeatedly press the Sleep button (SLEEP/TIMER) on the remote control until the “00” is displayed.

Turning off the system can also cancels the sleep timer.

Setting the Daily on Timer

You can use the setting timer to make the unit automatically turn on at a certain time everyday from

standby. When the setting timer is on, But the clock must be correctly set for the timer to operate

correctly.

1. In standby mode, press the Timer button (SLEEP/TIMER) on the remote control, the hour indicator

will blink.

2. Set the hour with the Volume Down button (VOL-) or Volume Up button (VOL+).

3. Press the Timer button (SLEEP/TIMER) on the remote control, the minute indicator will blink.

4. Set the minute with the Volume Down button (VOL-) or Volume Up button (VOL+).

5. Press the Timer button (TIMER) on the remote control, the selected time is set. Press the same

button again, the “OFF” indicator will blink. Then set the daily timer to “ON” (daily timer set is in

effect) or “OFF” (daily timer set is to cancel) by pressing the Volume Down button (VOL-) or

Volume Up button (VOL+).

Caution:

* You can set the daily timer only in standby mode.

* The operating time of every step shouldn’t be longer than 3 seconds or it will return to time

display.

* The sound source on the automatic on mode is the same as the sound source the last time, the

unit was turned off by the standby switch.

To conrm the daily time

When you press the Timer button (SLEEP/TIMER) on the remote control in standby mode, the daily

time is displayed. Wait for a few seconds until the display returns to the time display.

To cancel the daily timer setting

Repeat the previous steps for setting the daily timer until “OFF” is displayed.

Turning off the system also cancels the daily timer.

Disc Handling

Handling Precautions

• Hold the disc by the edges so the surface will not be soiled with ngerprints. (A)

Fingerprints, dirt and scratches can cause skipping and distortion.

• Do not write on the label side with a ball-point pen or other writing implements.

• Do not use record cleaning sprays, benzine, thinner, static electricity prevention liquids or any

other solvent.

• Be careful not to drop or bend the disc.

• Do not install more than 1 disc on the disc tray.

• Do not try to close the disc tray when the disc is not installed properly.

• Be sure to store the disc in its exclusive case when not in use.

If the surface is soiled (B)

• Wipe gently with a soft, damp (water only) cloth.

• When wiping discs, always move the cloth from the center hole toward the outer edge.

(If you wipe the discs using a circular motion, circular scratches are likely to occur, which will

cause noise.)

• If the disc is brought from a cold to a warm environment, moisture may form on the disc. Wipe

the moisture off with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth before using the disc.

Improper disc storage

You can damage discs if you store them in the following places:

• Areas exposed to direct sunlight.

• Humid or dusty areas.

• Areas directly exposed to a heat outlet or heating appliance.
