DVD discs must be labeled ALL
regions or Region 1 in order to
play on this player. You cannot
play discs labeled for other
regions.
- Da not use any non-standard shaped discs
(heart-shaped, etc.).
- Do not use discs with tape, seals, or paste
on their surface. Doing so may damage this
player.
- Da nat use discs affixed with labels printed
by o commercially available label printer.
- Photo CD, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD-
RAM, CDV and nonstandard CD discs
cannot be played on this unit.

fallowing discs: Super Audio CD (SA-CD),
DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, Video CD,
Super Video CD, Audio CD, CD-R, CD-R_/V
DVD+R_&/ DVD+R, DVD-R and DVD-RW.
This player can play:
- MP3 and picture (Kodak, JPEC) files
recorded on CD-R(W),
- ]PEG/ISO 9660 format
- Maximum 30 character display
- DivX_ disc an CD-R(_AO/DVD+R(W)/
DVD-R(W) (3.11, 4.x and 5,x)
- CD-R and CD-RW cannot be played unless
finalized.
- Some discs cannot be played depending on
the recording conditions, such as the PC
environment and application so,ware. The
characteristics and condition of same discs;
materials, scratches, curvature, etc., may
result in playback failure.
- Besure to use only CD-Rand CD-RW discs
made by reliable manufacturers.
When a disc becomes dirty, dean it
with a cleaning cloth. Wipe the disc
from the center out. Do not wipe in a
circular motion.

or antistatic spray intended for analog

could connect this pbyer. Possible
connections are described below.
Please refer to the manuals of your

Do not connect this player via your
VCR. The video quality could be
distorted by the copy protection
system.
Do not connect this pJayer's audio out
iacI<to the phono injackof your audio
system.
Notes:
- tfthe audio format of the digital output
does not match the capabilities of your
receiver, the receiver will produce a strong,
distorted sound or no sound at all. Make
sure to se/ectthe appropriate audio format
from the menu screen on the disc.
Pressing AUDIO once or more may change
not only the audio language but also the
audio format The selected format appears
in the status window for several seconds.

OPTICAL digital out iacks. Connect one
or" both of them to your AV receiver

Getting Started
1 Open the battery compartment.
2 Insert two type R06 or AA batteries,
following the indications (+/-) inside the
compartment.
3 Close the cover.
Using the remote controm
Connect the AC power cord to an AC
outlet.

3 Select the appropriate input source at the
AV receiver that was used to connect to
this player. Refer to the owner's manual
for your component for details.
4 Turn on this player.
5 Set the TV to the correct Video IN

compatible with both NTSC and PAL
formats (a multi-system TV). The output

Notes:
- Before changing the current TV
Standard settin_ ensure that your TV
supports the "selected TV type"
system.
- If the picture does not display
properly on your TV, wait 15 seconds
for aata recover to activate.

You can adiust the deby times (for center
and surround speakers only) and the
volume level for individual speakers. These
adiustments let you optimize the sound of
your system to best suit your surroundings
and setup.

Speaker settings are only available
for multi-channel audio output.
Press SETUP.
Press _ repeatedly to select [AUDIO
SETUP PAGE].
Press AV to highlight [SPEAKER SETUP],

1 Press STOP [] twice, then press SETUP.

surround speakers are closer to tile listener
than the front speakers.
- A test tone wilt be automatically generated
to help you judge the sound level of each
speaker

I Press STANDBY/ON on the front panel.
2 Press OPENICLOSE A on the front
panel to open the disc loading tray,
3 Place the chosen discs in the tray, printed
side up.
4 Press PLAY_.
-O The disc tray doses and playback starts
automatically for all of the loaded discs
in the tray in sequence.
5 To stop playback, press STOP m.
When the disc tray is open, pressing
PLAY _, OPEN/CLOSE A
PLAYXCHANGE, DmSC (1,2, 3, 4,
5) will close the disc tray automatically.
Unless otherwise stated, all operations
described here are carried out using the
remote control for this player,
Pausing playback
1 During playback, press PAUSE II.
Playback will pause and the sound will
be mute&
:2 Press PAUSE H again to select the next
picture frame.
3 To resume normal playback, press
PLAY _.
Selecting a tracldchapter
" Press J*_l / _l_J or use the numeric
keypad (0-9) to key in atrack/chapter
number.
-O During repeat playback of a track/
chapter, pressing 1_41/_l will replay
the same track/chapter.
To playback a specific disc direcdy,
press DISC SKmP repeatedly on the
remote control or press DmSC (1, :2,3,
4, 5) on the front panel
Press PLAYXCHANGE on the front
panel to open the disc tray and reload
or unload discs without interrupting
current disc playback.
- Playback wilI stop after al! discs have
been played.
Searching backward/forward
Press and hold _4 / I_l, then press
PLAY [l_ to resume normal playback.
-O While searching, pressing I*_ / _l
again will increase the search speed.
Note:
- For MP3, WMA and DivXt_, the search
function allows you to search the track
currently being played.

Shuffle
(except DVDIVCDISVCD)
With the Shuffle function, you can play
tracks in random order.
During playback, press SHUFFLE
repeatedly to select between SHUFFLE
DISC, SHUFFLE ALL DBC and SHUFFLE
OFF,
_4 The selected mode appears in the
display for several seconds,
[n SHUFFLE DISC mode, aJ[tracks on
the disc currendy playing are played in
random order. For Hybrid SA-CDs,
tracks on the SA-CD layer are pIayed by
default (see page 22).
In SHUFFLE ALL DISC, tracks from all
discs are played in random order:
- ffthe disc currendy playing is a CD, only
tracks from CDs and the CD layer of
SA-CDs will be played.
- If the disc currently playing is in SA-CD
(SA-CD layer), HP3, WHA or DivX_b,
tracks on the disc currendy playing are
played in random order. When all the
tracks on that disc have been pJayed,
shuffle playback continues with the next
disc.
Depending on the disc, a menu may appear
on the TV screen once you load the disc.
To select a pJayback feature or item
Use @_'AT or the numeric keypad
(0-9) on the remote control, then press
ENTER/OK to start playback.
To access or dear the menu
Press MENU on the remote control
This function allows you to enlarge the
picture on the TV screen and pan through
the enlarged picture.
1 During playback, press ZOObl repeatedly
to display the picture at different scales.
Use @I_A_F to pan through the
enlarged picture.

2 Press ZOObl repeatedly to return to the
original size.
Resuming playback from the last
stopped point
You can resume playback of the last 10
discs, even if the disc was eiec_ed or this
player's power switched off.
Load one of the last 10 discs.
"LOADING" appears,
Press PLAY _ and the disc will be
played back from the last stopping point.
To cancel resume mode
" [n stop mode, press STOP [] again.
