Exercise care in handling battery in order to prevent shorting
with conducting materials, such as rings, coins, bracelets,
and keys. The battery or the conductor can overheat and
cause burns.
Do not dispose of the battery in a fire.
Do not open or mutilate a battery or cell. Electrolyte from the
cell is corrosive and can cause damage to the eyes or skin.
The cell contents can also be hazardous if ingested.
Only cells or batteries identified as "rechargeable" should be
charged.
During normal use, batteries should not reach temperature
extremes that could cause burns. To mitigate potential burns,
batteries should not be handled immediately after use of the
device or charging.
Charging a primary battery, by any means, may result in
leakage, fire, or explosion.
Never short-circuit batteries, as this may lead to high
temperatures, leakage, fire, or explosion.
Batteries should not be disassembled, crushed, punctured, or
otherwise mutilated. Such abuses may result in leakage, fire,
or explosion.
Batteries should not be heated or exposed to temperatures
exceeding the manufacturer´s recommended maximum
temperature. Such thermal exposure may lead to leakage,
fire, or explosion.
Chemical Burn Hazard. Keep batteries away from children.
SilverCrest SPWES 180 A1

Immediately seek medical attention if a cell or battery has
been swallowed. Also, contact your local poison control
center.
This product contains a lithium button/coin cell battery. If a
new or used lithium button/coin cell battery is swallowed or
enters the body, it can cause severe internal burns and can
lead to death in as little as 2 hours. Always completely
secure the battery compartment. If the battery compartment
does not close securely, stop using the product, remove the
battery, and keep it away from children. If you think batteries
might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the

6. Before using
6.1 Inserting / replacing the batteries
To insert the batteries, remove the battery compartment
cover from the battery compartment (4) on the
underside of the bathroom scale. To do this, press a
finger on the grooved area and slide the battery
compartment cover to the side.
Insert the supplied batteries or replace the batteries if
they are discharged. When inserting the batteries, pay
attention to the correct polarity (look for + and -). The
polarity is pictured on the batteries and in the battery
compartment (4). Then slide the battery compartment
cover back over the battery compartment (4) until you
hear it latch.
7. Getting started
7.1 Switching on the bathroom scale / measuring weight
The bathroom scale must be calibrated before first use or after having been
moved to ensure that it can determine one's weight precisely. To do so, step
briefly on to the scale surface (2), step off it again and wait until the bathroom
scale switches off automatically. The bathroom scale is now calibrated.
Due to the Step-On-Power function, the bathroom scale is switched on automatically when you step
on the scale surface (2) and starts to measure your weight immediately.
In its original state, the bathroom scale is set to the “lb” unit of weight. To change the unit of weight,
press the “Button for Setting the Weight Unit” (3). The selected unit of weight is then indicated on
the LC display (1).
Stand on the scale surface (2) of the bathroom scale so that your weight is evenly distributed.
Remain as still as possible during the weighing process as the measurement result may be distorted
SilverCrest SPWES 180 A1
US-EN - 11
otherwise. The measurement result is indicated on the LC display (1) during the weighing process.
The measurement is complete when the display flashes three times.
A solid surface is required to measure weight correctly. Thus always place the
bathroom scale on a solid, horizontal floor covering and never on carpet. This
can distort the measurement result.
To obtain comparable measurement results, you should always weigh yourself
if possible at the same time of day (preferably in the morning). Always weigh
yourself if possible under the same conditions: on an empty stomach, after
having gone to the toilet and naked.
Please note that values for the stone unit of weight are not represented as
decimal values. The display is divided into two segments by a colon. Whole
numbers are displayed only in the “st” unit of weight to the left of the colon.
The remaining weight is displayed in the “lb” unit of weight to the right of the
colon.
Example: “6: 8 st” is shown on the display. This corresponds to 6 st and 8 lb.
7.2 Auto power off
The bathroom scale has an automatic switch-off function (Auto Power Off function).
The bathroom scale switches off automatically approx. 10 seconds after stepping off the scale
surface (2).
The bathroom scale also switches off automatically approx. 10 seconds after the weight
measurement if you do not step off the scale surface (2).
8. Troubleshooting
8.1 Nothing is indicated on the LC display
The batteries are discharged. Replace the batteries with new ones of the same type. Follow
the notes on this in section "6.1. Inserting / replacing the batteries."
The batteries are inserted incorrectly. Follow the notes on this in section "6.1. Inserting /
replacing the batteries."
8.2 “Lo” is indicated on the LC display, and the scale switches off
The batteries are almost discharged. Replace the batteries with new ones of the same type.
Follow the notes on this in section "6.1. Inserting / replacing the batteries."
SilverCrest SPWES 180 A1
12 – US-EN
8.3 “Err” is indicated on the LC display
The weight exceeds the maximum weight of 180 kg / 396 lb. You should step off the scale
surface (2) immediately to avoid any damage to the bathroom scale.
9. Maintenance / cleaning
Maintenance work is necessary if the bathroom scale was damaged, for example, if the device
housing is damaged, liquids or objects have gotten inside the bathroom scale or if it was subjected
to rain or moisture. Maintenance work is also necessary if it is not operating correctly or has been
dropped. If you see smoke, hear unusual noises or smell odors, remove the batteries from the
bathroom scale immediately. In these cases, do not use the bathroom scale again before it has
been checked by an expert. Only let qualified technicians perform maintenance work. Never open
the housing of the bathroom scale. Clean it only with a clean, dry cloth; never use aggressive
liquids.
10. Environmental information and disposal specifications
10.1 Disposing of the packaging
Sort the packaging, before you dispose of it. Dispose of paperboard and
cardboard with the recycled paper service and wrappings with appropriate
collection service.
10.2 Disposing of used devices
Do not dispose of used devices in household trash! If you are not going to use the bathroom scale
anymore, dispose of it in accordance with the applicable regulations in your state or country. This
ensures that used devices are recycled professionally and that there are no negative consequences
for the environment.
Make sure that disposal conforms to the local regulations and the EPA recommendations
(www.epa.gov).
10.3 Disposing of batteries
Remove the batteries from the device before it is scrapped. Even used cells may cause injury. Keep
environmental protection in mind. Used batteries do not belong in household trash. You must drop
them off at a collection point for used batteries. Keep in mind that batteries may only be deposited
SilverCrest SPWES 180 A1
US-EN - 13
in the collection bin for used device batteries when discharged or if, in the case of batteries that are
only partially discharged, you have taken measures to prevent short circuits.
