Before initial use
The waf e iron should be preheated for ten
minutes with the lids closed. (If your waf e
iron has an adjustable thermostat control,
turn it to its highest setting). This will remove
the smell typically encountered when rst
switching on the waf e iron.
For that reason, adequate ventilation should
be ensured by opening windows or balcony
doors.
Clean the appliance afterwards as described
in General care and cleaning.
For reasons of hygiene, discard the rst two
waf es produced when the appliance is used
for the
rst time.
10
Operation
Close the lids.
Plug in the appliance. The red indicator
light comes on.
Turn the thermostat control to its
maximum setting.
Preheat the waf e iron for about eight
minutes. It is then ready for use.
Once the pre-set temperature is reached,
the green ready-light comes on.
Open the two lids.
Before use, the non-stick plates should
be lightly greased with a small amount of
oil or fat that is speci cally intended for
frying and may be safely heated to high
temperatures.
Put the required amount of dough on the
middle of each of the lower plates.
Close the upper lid and press down gently
to help spread the dough evenly.
The baking time is in general 2 - 3
minutes, depending on the nature
of the dough as well as the selected
temperature.
Shortly after the dough is put in the waf e
iron, the green ready-light goes out. It will
come on again once the baking process
is nished, when the waf es can be
removed.
When taking the waf es off the plates, do
not use any sharp or pointed objects likely
to damage the non-stick coating.
Check the level of browning. Should the
waf e be too light or too dark, adjust the
temperature control or baking time.
Place fresh dough into the waf e iron
immediately after removing the waf e.
After use, remove the plug from the wall
socket and allow the appliance to cool
down with its cooking plates open.
Practical hints
In order to maintain the crispness of the
waf es, place them next to each other
on a rack to cool. (Placed on top of each
other, the waf es will lose their crispness).
If milk is used instead of water, the waf es
will be softer and darker.
In order to achieve even browning,
all ingredients should be of the same
temperature.
General care and cleaning
Before cleaning, remove the plug from the
wall socket and wait until the appliance
has cooled down with the cooking plates
open.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the appliance with water and do not
immerse it in water.
Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning
solutions.
Clean the outside of the appliance with a
soft, slightly damp cloth only.
The non-stick plates can be cleaned
with a soft damp cloth, a soft brush or a
sponge.
