#42) to spin down and stop on its own. Do not press against the Cutter Blade to
stop it.
11. DO NOT FORCE THE CUTTER BLADE INTO THE MATERIAL BEING CUT.
Apply moderate pressure, allowing the Cutter Blade to cut without being forced.
12. NEVER ATTEMPT TO REMOVE MATERIAL STUCK IN THE MOVING PARTS

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: For further reference to the parts listed below, refer to the Assembly Dia-
gram on page 13 of this manual.
To Safely Turn The Planer “ON” And “OFF”:
1. Make sure to hold the Planer with both hands while starting it, as torque from the
Motor will cause the tool to twist.
2. To turn the Planer “ON”, depress the Lock Button (part #57) and squeeze the
Start Switch (part #57). (See Figure B and Assy. Diagram.)
3. To turn the Planer “OFF”, release pressure on the Start Switch (part #57) and the
Planer will automatically shut down.
To Adjust The Cutting Depth:
1. NOTE: ALWAYS disconnect the Planer from its electrical supply source prior to
performing any servicing, maintenance, cleaning, or adjustments to the tool.
2. To adjust the cutting depth, rotate the Knob (part #41) clockwise or counterclock-
wise until the indicator aligns at the desired setting on the Scale (part #36). (See
Figure B and Assy. Diagram.)

3. Each graduation of the Scale (part #36) is equal to .010” (.25mm). The Planer
may be set to cut any depth between 0 - 0.7” (0 - 2mm).
4. The Scale (part #36) also features a “P” or “Park” setting, which indicates the two
Blades (part #64) are fully retracted and that the Planer may be safely set on its
base after the Blades have come to a complete stop.
To Attach The Rabbeting Width Guide:
1. Place the Rabbeting Bracket (part #65) on top of the front portion of the Rabbet-
ing Width Guide (part #66) and secure, using one Screw (part #13), Washer (part
#11), and Nut (part #27). Make sure the Washer is installed between the bottom
of the Rabbeting Bracket and the top of the Rabbeting Width Guide.
(See Figure B and Assy. Diagram.)
2. Slide the Rabbeting Width Guide (part #66) under the Planer. Secure the
Rabbeting Width Guide to the side of the Planer, using one Wing Knob (part 51).
To Adjust The Rabbeting Depth And Width:
1. The rabbeting
depth
may be set from 0 - 0.7” (0 - 2mm).
2. To set the rabbeting depth, loosen the Wing Knob (part #51) and use the Rabbet-
ing Depth Guide (part #52) to locate the desired depth. Then, retighten the Wing
Knob. (See Figure C and Assy. Diagram.)

3. To set the rabbeting
width
, loosen the Screw (part #13) and slide the Rabbeting
Bracket (part #65) to the left or right along the Rabbeting Width Guide (part #66)
to locate the desired width. Then, retighten the Screw.
NOTE: Make sure the
Washer (part #11) is installed between the bottom of the Rabbeting Bracket and
the top of the Rabbeting Width Guide to keep the Rabbeting Bracket from slip-
ping. (See Figure B and Assy. Diagram.)
To Make A Cut:
1. Always use clamps, a vise, or other safe, practical ways to hold and support the
workpiece.
2. While standing next to the workpiece, hold the Planer firmly with both hands.
3. Place the Front Support (part #31) of the Planer on the workpiece, and squeeze
the Start Switch (part #57) to start the tool. (See Figure D.)
4. While placing pressure on the Front Support (part #31) to control the depth of the
cut, and while placing pressure on the Rabbeting Width Guide (part #66) against
the workpiece to control the width of the cut, feed the Planer
forward slowly
until
the Rear Support (part #30) contacts the workpiece. Then, transfer pressure to
the Rear Support, and continue planing
slowly
to the end of the cut.
Do not pull
the Planer back over the surface already cut.
5. If necessary, repeat Step #4 above, using progressively deeper cuts until you
near the desired depth. Then, readjust the Rabbeting Depth Guide (part #52) to
make a light cut for the final pass. (See Figure C.)

6. NOTE: The Planer’s Motor may stall if the tool is improperly used. If the Motor
begins to stall, reduce the speed at which you are making the cut and/or reduce
the depth of the cut.
To Reverse Or Replace The Cutter Blades:
1. The Planer is equipped with
two
reversible
Cutter Blades (part #64). Do not
attempt to sharpen old Blades. And always reverse or replace the Blades as a
set in order to avoid an imbalance of the Cutter (part #42). (See Figures E, F,
and Assy. Diagram.)
2. To reverse or replace the Cutter Blades (part #64), use an Allen Wrench to
loosen the three Bolts (part #62) that secure Blades and the Wedge (part #61) to
the Cutter (part #42).
3. Slide the Cutter Blades (part #64) lengthwise out of the Wedge (part #61).
NOTE: Use a piece of wood to slide the Blades out in order to avoid cuts to your
fingers.
4. Once the Cutter Blades (part #64) have been removed, clean the Blades, the
Wedge (part #61), and the Cutter (part #42) thoroughly before installing the new
Blades; thus, allowing for a more accurate Blade setting.

5. When installing the two reversed or new Cutter Blades (part #64), it is important
that they be properly adjusted so that they align evenly with the Front Support
(part #31) and Rear Support (part #30). (See Figure F and Assy. Diagram.)
6. Slide the reversed or new Cutter Blades (part #64) lengthwise into the Wedge
(part #61). NOTE: Use a piece of wood to slide in the Blades in order to avoid
cuts to your fingers.
7. Place a straight edge or piece of wood along the outside surface of the Front
Support (part #31) and Rear Support (part #30).

To Level The Cutter Blades:
1. Depending on product usage, the two Cutter Blades (part #64) may require
leveling. These adjustments are critical and are best performed by a qualified
technician.
To Install A New Drive Belt:
1. The Drive Belt (part #26) should be periodically inspected. If the Belt shows
signs of cracks, tears, will not track properly, or comes off the Driving Pulley (part
#18) and/or the Driven Pulley (part #25) it should be replaced. (See Figure G.)
2, To replace the Drive Belt (part #26), remove the Self-Tapping Screw (part #21).
Then, remove the Housing (part #28). (See Assy. Diagram.)
3. Remove the old Drive Belt (part #26), and thoroughly clean the Driving Pulley
(part #18) and Driven Pulley (part #25).
4. Place the new Drive Belt (part #26) onto the Driving Pulley (part #18). Then,
rotate the Pulley clockwise while pushing the Belt onto the Driven Pulley (part
#25)

CLEANING, INSPECTION, AND MAINTENANCE
1.
Caution:
Always disconnect the Planer from its electrical power supply source
before performing any cleaning, inspection, or maintenance.
2. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the Planer. Inspect switch,
power plug and cord assembly, and extension cord (if used) for damage. Check
for loose screws, misalignment, binding of moving parts, improper mounting,
broken parts, loose or damage Cutter Blades and any other condition that may
affect its safe operation. If abnormal noise or vibration occurs, turn off the Planer
immediately and have the problem corrected before further use. Do not use
damaged equipment.
3. Do not introduce water into the electric motor through the motor vents.
4. Do not use solvents to wipe off the Planer, as damage may result.
5. With a brush or soft cloth, remove all the sawdust from the Planer.
6. If necessary, wipe with a damp cloth. You may use a mild detergent.
7. Once clean, lubricate all moving parts with a light oil.
8. When storing, keep the Planer in a box, or cover with a cloth cover.
